We ate here last night with our family which consisted of two young children. From the moment we walked in the door we were made to feel very welcome and everyone was so friendly! The menus have a great selection and the early bird menu in particular is fantastic value for money. Our food arrived quickly and have to say was absolutely delicious. The chicken curry is an absolute must. Lovely cosy atmosphere and very child friendly. My son actually left a bag of toys in the restaurant which we did not realise at the time however Kath from the Hall Inn took the time to hand deliver this back to us today in Monmouth which was so very kind of her! We would 100% recommend this to anyone wanting great home cooked pub food and a welcoming atmosphere! We will certainly be returning.

Although we may have not got the memo about the 'Dad's Army' themed NYE party, we fit right in. It was a set hot buffet meal and the food was delicious, we were made to feel very welcome and although we only stayed for food it was clear to see everyone was in for a good night. We then went back for my birthday as we had heard that the steaks were amazing!! I had the 'Farmers Fillet' and it was probably one of the best steaks I have ever eaten. Food, service and wine was all top level.

Been to the hall on many occasions and never had a bad meal. The food is exceptional, both bar meals and Sunday lunch. Home cooked, tasty food in a cosy atmosphere.
Try the farmers fillet steak it's the size of 2 for the price of one!!

We visited the pub as a last minute booking. My husband and I both ordered food from the specials both meals were extremely small, I had the chicken tagliatelle my husband had beef strips in prepacorn sauce both were £15+ 5 mouthfulls and they were gone expensive for the amount given but they were very delicious expect more food for the price. My children had pizzas and chicken nuggets children meals were fine. Our table was never checked back on once food was served. Desserts were very good! A lot of glasses and cutlery waiting on the tables didn’t leave enough room. Especially with covid still around I didn’t like the fact glasses were waiting on the tables. Staff were very friendly.

So sorry you didn't think you had value for money as that is something we pride are selves on, I can assure you the thought of people leaving here hungry gives me nightmares!
I can only apologise for the drop in standard of service, we were extremely busy that evening and like many other establishments we are short on staff.
Thank you for your concern regarding tables being laid up for you, I can assure you we explored other ways of doing it during our extensive risk assessment and reached the conclusion that this would be the safest answer as it means we can keep close contact between staff and customers to a minimum and not have customers milling around waiting for there table to be made ready. You may have noticed that we are still practising social distancing between tables as well.
I hope you come and visit us again and if you make yourself known to me I will be sure to make amends for this visit.

After my mother told me about The Hall a month ago when she had visited for a Sunday Lunch, we have been there twice for an evening meal. Thank goodness for The Hall!!
The meals are beautifully served, tasty and yes - a little expensive - but you get a good home-made meal with plenty of veg and the staff go out of their way to ensure you get what you want.
We don't mind travelling the 13 miles to The Hall as we know that we will experience good cooking, a relaxing evening and a really good night out.
The Hall is now our "go to place" for an enjoyable meal and are so pleased we found this place.

From the booking via telephone right through to paying the bill the staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. We were visiting and booked via a recommendation and so glad we did! The food was superb and the choice go many was excellent as was the customer service - all staff were great and made our lunch/ visit extra special. We are a party of 7 and between us had 4 different options and everyone agreed the food was amazing and fabulously priced! Thank you for making our Sunday Lunch special ! Without hesitation we will return next time we are in South Wales

Our long awaited visit for Sunday lunch was rewarded with a superb meal. Excellent starters and roasts (one beef, one chicken) were served by the most personable of staff with smiles and willingness to please throughout. Our only request would be that the lovely attention to detail and quantity and quality of ingredients, be extended to desserts. Sadly our final course felt like it was hurriedly thrown together and did not reflect the best this place can offer.

It just seems at the moment that we are constantly short of staff and sometimes the puddings end up getting rushed, hopefully they will be spot on for your next visit.

Lovely homecooked food, very friendly and welcoming. There was a huge choice of food and the lunchtime menu was extremely reasonably priced. I wish this pub was local to me! Thank you so much for a delicious meal.

Visited after calling that morning after they had received a cancellation , well what can I say, by far the best Sunday lunch we have eaten in a long time, tasty meat, great portion sizes and very well presented . So good we decided to stay for deserts and boy we wasn’t disappointed - stunning! The owner was very welcoming and happy to stop for a chat. We can’t wait to return sample their weekday menu - such great choices available . I wish we lived nearer as I imagine we would become quite the regular ! 😊..p.s don’t forget to give the dog a little fuss before entering! 🐶

Amazing! Lovely atmosphere, cute spot, very good service. Excellent options for a vegetarian and a gluten free. Food was so truly delicious and prices were really reasonable. Can’t wait to come back.

We were a group of 10 adults and 2 children and had a mix of food from the lunchtime and main menu. Both menus have a broad spectrum of food to suit all tastes from starters, mains and desserts. For starters we had a range of soup, garlic bread, baked goats cheese and braised black pudding. For mains we had cod and chips, steak with port and stilton sauce, lasagne and salmon. Desserts we had included lemon cheesecake, sticky toffee pudding, creme brulé and apple crumble. Hot food came to the table piping hot, well presented and delicious. The cold food was appropriately cool and was equally tasty.
The atmosphere inside was very welcoming and the staff friendly and helpful, making it a highly enjoyable experience for all.

Cannot fault the food and service here, greeted with a warm welcome some drinks and then shown to our table. Everything that we had was fabulous my wife had the homemade fish cakes and I had vegetable soup to start, followed by two Farmers Fillet steaks (cooked to perfection) with profiteroles for my wife and a raspberry pavlova for myself. When we arrived at 7pm the restaurant was full and we were told there may be a little wait for our food as everyone had arrived just before us! There was no long wait and the food was served swiftly and efficiently. A fab meal in a very friendly place. I would highly recommend you try this place out! Tell Stuart I sent you 😀

We arrived in glorious sunshine to a warm welcome from the host and staff, the service and food was exceptional.
Nothing was too much trouble!

Disappointed! Sunday lunch poor value for money for what you get. Small starter portions. Lamb sunday lunch meat tasted like kebab meat. Different parts of the lamb were cooked differently from rare to burnt. Group of men sat outside swearing and being loud spoiling the atmosphere. Locals clearly get preferential treatment. Wont be returning.

So sorry you didn't enjoy your visit to us on Sunday. We did experience a myriad of problems on the day in question which resulted in some tables experiencing a long wait for there meals, this was mainly down to the fact that we were so busy with many people, like yourself, deciding at the last minute to take advantage of the lovely weather and eat outside as we were already fully booked inside.
I fear that this long wait has spoiled the entire experience for you as we appear to have let you down on the three things we pride ourselves on; value for money, atmosphere and quality food.
If you should change your mind and visit us again I would like to think that you would not be so unlucky!

Have now introduced two more of our friends to The Hall. The meals are fabulous and we enjoy what is cooked every time we visit. Goats cheese in Parma Ham for starters was delicious and my favourite meal (chicken with leeks in a mushroom sauce) was again very well done and a quality meal.
Such a lovely variety of good food, a good pint of Cwrw and excellent service.
We look to our next visit.
