Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I have come from the North West of England with my fiancé and the bar man was the rudest and most intolerant man I've ever encountered 😤 He took offence from me saying yes please fill up my orange lad which is clearly a northern...colloquialism and even after explaining this he still insisted we leave! Never been so insulted in all the places we have visited, which are many, totally unacceptable behaviour in this day and age xxMore

This establishment is superb. Lovely setting, very quaint and cozy The landlord is truly pleasant and hospitable, a real publican who clearly knows how to run a pub well. I think his name is Simon. But the food is really the star here. I had...the steak pie with dauphinoire (creamy) potatoes. I dont know how excited one is supposed to get over a pie but this was out of this world - no microwaves involved here! Chocka bloc with steak, beautiful gravy and a proper crust around the edge and not too much at the expense of the meat. I have never had a better pie in a public setting. I also had welsh ice cream and plenty of it too. Absolutely delicious and all very reasonably priced. The whole experience was amazing.More

We were in Usk for the day and were looking for a pub to have lunch. We came across the Nags Head and were made most welcome. The service was excellent, the people were friendly and the food was everything we could have wished for....Delicious, hot, value for money and we especially like the side dishes of vegetables which came with the meal and were NOT an extra to pay for. The history in the pub is amazing and I don't think one can see it all in a month if one visited every day. The best beer we have had for a long time as well. Hats off to to you all at Nags Head Usk.More

Sunday evening meal - everything on the menu was available and reasonably priced. The steak pie was tasty and amble in size - it came with chips and vegetables. I had gammon and salad which was also very tasty and well presented. The wine selection...was extensive and plenty of other drinks available. Possibly even better than the tasty comprehensive menu and food was the warm welcome is the staff./maps/12DRAcaL5eKfWsXj7More

We had been to an Alpacca farm up the road and decided to stop in Usk for lunch. We hadn’t pre booked and it was Mothers Day. The nice gentleman said it was no problem to find a table for just two. Menu wasn’t extensive...but had what I wanted. Husband had the starter of fishcakes as a main and I had the ham and egg. Really nice apart from the chunky chips which were hard inside. Wish I had ordered the skinny fries now. Husband said fishcakes were delicious and you could tell they were handmade. The waiting staff were all smiles and happy , which was nice and give you enough attention without being intrusive. On leaving I was given two bunches of daffodils and told ‘ happy Mother’s Day ‘. That was a nice gesture. Will be visiting Usk again in May and will be having lunch here for sure.More

What a great find! We wanted a good lunch for three people and this really exceeded our expectations on every level. A very cheerful lady took my phone booking which was a good start and we had a lovely warm welcome from both the staff...in the pub when we arrived. Our table was ready and we were offered drinks straight away. Our meals were sirloin steak, Glamorgan sausages (veggie) and poached salmon. I don't think we've ever had such clean plates. All three meals were absolutely delicious. The pudding menu was terrific - between us we had ice cream, sorbet and the blackberry and apple tart which came with a whole jug of custard - bliss. This was the first time we'd been to the Nag's Head and we will certainly be back. It's a good halfway point for us all to meet, so we will meet up more regularly with such a great pub to lure us back. Thank you to all the staff who gave us such a great lunch!More

Lovely pub restaurant. Great varied menu and cold guineas on tap!! We ate well; sirloin steak with all the trimmings, scampi and chips and veggie sausages with mash. The latter wasn’t great but they were taken off the bill without hesitation by the hostess. Highly...recommended!!More

Popped in on the off chance of a table Sunday lunchtime. A gentleman said that there was a table available and showed us to the said table. Unfortunately they didn’t do a roast, but the poached Salmon and faggots were amazing. (2 separate meals). Fresh...veg and 5 different types of potatoes to choose from. The other members of staff were friendly, smart and efficient. Spot on. The place was filling up nicely when we left.More

The menus are on Tripadvisor in the photos section and on the Nags Head's own website. I don't remember sandwiches/baguettes being an option. As their portions are pretty hearty I suppose you could just have a starter like... More
