This was a return visit after a few years since our last visit when we were last here on holiday. Everything we ate was delicious and the service was excellent - it was a fine afternoon so we were able to dine outside overlooking the island of Lismore. It was far from a cheap lunch but we knew this in advance so chose the restaurant as to make a special occasion of our last day on holiday. Would we return in the future - yes undoubtedly!

Situated opposite a jetty where you can get a passenger ferry across to Lismore. Beautiful views across to the island and Mull further afield. Seafood platter was great value (shared with my wife), fish pie recommended (daughter) and a plate of langoustines were happily devoured (son). We ordered all 3 deserts and fought over every spoonful !

Today we meet up with some friends at the Pierhouse for our lunch. When we got there we got a table in the window and they came and asked us what we wanted to drink and some menu's. We all had a time choosing because there was so much choice! It took around 15/20 minutes and they were all very neatly presented on the plates. It was lovely!! I had the fish and chips. Recently they have updated the menu, i prefer the fish now but would prefer the chips before the update! Once everyone had finished they brought some dessert menu's, so much choice! I had sticky toffee pudding while the others had the new rice pudding! My mum said it was beautiful especially with the raspberries and honeycomb on the top. We will definitely be back and would definitely recommend to anyone who lives or is staying nearby.

Hello Thomas H We're delighted that you enjoyed your meal with us recently. You are right to say that we have given the fish and chips a bit of a makeover - the fish batter is made with Black Isle beer and the chips are now homemade and hand-cut served with our own seaweed salt; although it sounds like you were more pleased than not with your lunch choice! Thank you for taking the time to leave this feedback for us - hopefully you will come back and see us when you are back in the area. Kind regards Fiona McLean General Manager

Hidden at the end of a small winding road by the Lismore Foot Ferry this was an wonderful location for an afternoon tea and delicious warmed scones sitting outside in the sunshine with stunning views.... and while we did not stay we returned the next day as I had left my jumper (accidently but maybe on purpose). While our other halves and dogs went off on the Ferry to Lismore we decided to have a coffee and catch up and as it was a chillier day we went inside and found the snug with log burner, lovely comfy chairs and views out to the beautiful scenery . Coffee turned into lunch and the Cullen Skink was amazing and the 'fishfinger' sandwich was amazing with delicious homemade tartar sauce. The staff were so friendly and we had a fabulous time - thank you

The sign at the car park entrance reads "Welcome to Seafood Heaven" and it's not far off. One of our party ordered the seafood platter ( the cheaper and smaller one, not the one which included a whole lobster!) and we watched as piece by piece everything was poked out, slurped, dipped, broken open and devoured. At the end there was a plate with a couple of mussels which didn't open and a scattering of shell. His bowl for the langoustine heads and mussel and oyster shells was replaced three times by attentive staff. The monkfish was very good but not exceptional, with its mushy lentil base. I wasn't a fan of what appeared to be deep fried filo pastry sheets that came with it, as they tasted greasy. However the cheese souffle as a starter was HUGE and delicious and came surrounded by a moat of cheesy sauce. And the Ginger Parkin for a dessert was similarly moated with a treacly sauce and I'd eat that every day if I could get them to send it to me! I fear I may have moaned out loud as I spooned it into my mouth. We were here for a couple of nights and breakfast was equally good, the fresh fruit salad being the star of the morning show for me with french toast made from brioche a very good runner up. Service was slightly tardy but the restaurant was full both nights and so maybe I'm being unfair on them. The staff were friendly and helpful at all times.

I wish this restaurant was closer to home! We loved our meal so much that we will definitely be back again one day. Please note that with the current Government guidelines that the restaurant will only accept non-staying hotel guests for their lunch service as dinner service is reserved for hotel guests only. The service was superb and the food matched! We enjoyed the Cullen Skink soup, Mussels, Lobster, Langoustines and Venison Stew. We loved the starters and mains so much that we had to order the Sticky Toffee Pudding too! So stuffed by the end of the meal but we enjoyed every bite and have ZERO regrets!! Make sure you call to book a table!

Hello wxnderlustxo Thank you so much for your lovely review. Such a shame that you don't live closer as now offer a Pierhouse@home service! The availability of tables in the evening is currently completely dependent on government restrictions. It wasn't that we recently reserved dinner tables for residents only, however we were simply not allowed to welcome non-residents into the building after 6pm! But this is a constantly changing situaiton at the moment so we would always recommend calling us to find out what the guidelines are. I will be sure to pass your comments on to the restaurant and kitchen teams. We hope that we are to welcome you back to The Pierhouse soon. Warm regards Fiona McLean General Manager

Anyone coming to this area should have a meal here (and book!!! its popular!) The fish is so fresh you can almost taste the sea. We had dinner here but a) want more of the food and b) want to see the view and so have booked to come back for lunch. Husband had the oysters (fantastic he said) and I had the scallop (not ashamed to say my finger cleaned up all the caramelised shallot sauce) - scallop cooked to absolute perfection and the toasted brioche was superb. Husband has bouillabaisse and I had lobster Thermidor and allowed him a bit, the samphire alongside was the perfect match. We managed to find room for sticky toffee pudding (good but not as good as) the burnt cream which was one of the best we have ever had. The staff were great, not in your face but friendly and open Fiona the manager is a BIG asset and that she bothered to come and talk to us was great! do NOT miss this place! its a real gem.

Staying near Oban we decided to come up for a walk and to see Castle Stalker, so pleased to have seen the signs for the Pierhouse and even more pleased to get a table for lunch. Lucky enough to get a Lobster roll with homemade chips. The cullen skink was also great and my daughter had the kids homemade fish fingers, which i also tried and were fab and great value. The key for me was the freshness, simplicity of great quality food and great presentation, and a menu that both i and my partner wanted so much more of. We for sure have a desire to return! Great service and fresh seafood with amazing views 🙌

We arrived for coffee, stayed for lunch and had one of the nicest meals ever, watching a storm roll in as we ate beautiful salmon and great fish and chips. The staff were delightful and the restaurant thoughtfully set out so that we were socially distanced without it being obtrusive. Highlight of a wonderful ho,iday- thank you.

Just returned from a one night stay here over Valentines weekend. Weather was horrendous but it only added to the atmosphere of this wonderful hotel. Sitting by the log burner drinking gin and reading magazines while the wind howled! Staff could not be more attentive and welcoming. Everything we ate was excellent, from our lunchtime soup and freshly made bread to our seafood dinner of oysters and langoustines. Excellent wine list too. Our room was upgraded to one overlooking the sea which was really atmospheric during the storm. Breakfast next morning of fresh kippers and poached eggs was also excellent. We will definitely come back and very soon!

Had dinner here on Tuesday 25 August, during a 2 night stay near Oban and it was truly one of the best meals we’ve ever had. Hubby and I both had 3 courses but didn’t feel over stuffed by it all just comfortably full. The service was also excellent, didn’t get the young gentleman’s name but he is a credit to the restaurant and was really knowledgeable about the menu and drinks available too. The other servers were equally friendly and helpful. We will definitely come back here again and would recommend to anyone.

Wonderful location overlooking water. We stopped for lunch and were served by a very charming Canadian waiter who gave us great attention and added to the welcoming atmosphere. Two of our party were gluten and dairy intolerant, and the restaurant catered very well for our requirements. Highly enjoyable seafood lunch followed by a walk along the loch edge and back round to our starting point.

We stopped for morning coffee and ended up staying for lunch at this incredible place. We enjoyed the freshest langoustines ever and an absolutely delicious cheese soufflé which was worth the wait. Superb homemade desserts too! Stunning location, wonderful friendly service and a dream of a discovery on our grand tour of the Highlands and Islands of Scotland.

We stopped here for lunch on our way back to Oban from visiting Glencoe. We had made a booking which I would recommend. We had a table by the window with views to the small ferry terminal and Lismore in the distance and the sun shone. For our main courses we had fish pie and the west coast salmon both of which were extremely tasty, full of flavour and delicious. All the staff were very friendly and attentive without being overly intrusive. We will certainly return if back in the area.

I selected the restaurant for its loch-side location and excellent reputation. Neither disappointed, despite the fickle early October weather - indeed, the rainbows were a bonus. The waiting staff were without exception charming, friendly and helpful, and supplied us, after seating us at a window table, with a jug of iced water and a bowl of home-baked bread and pat of butter. The menu was clear and interesting; choice was only hampered by the wonderful selection. We opted for the langoustines and were not disappointed. the wine selection complemented the seafood in every respect. Excellent location, menu, service at a reasonable price. A birthday treat (age not disclosed) to remember!
