A very disappointing venue. Looked at reviews and travelled from Southampton to see friends. Starters were in short supply. The duck was very fatty. The chicken and bacon Caesar salad had no bacon and no anchovies and very little Caesar dressing. The rib eye steak...was mediocre. Although the soup was excellent. We all went home disappointed and wouldn’t recommend this as a Michelin star eating experience.More

Absolutely amazing experience for a date night. The food was fantastic. Warm breads with marinated tomatos, hummus, oil, balsamic and olives. Scallops with black pudding bon bons and chorizo.......Perfectly cooked. Savory, slightly sweet and packed a punch of flavor. The scallops had a perfect caramelised...outside whilst being soft as butter within. Black pudding bon bons gave a fantastic contrast with a crispy outside and soft, unami underneath. Finished with a chorizo sauce that complimented the dish in every best way, sharp, smoky and rich. I could eat this every day and be happy. Steak with oxtail hash..my partner inhaled this dish. The steak was a perfect medium rare. The meat itself was very high quality, so tender you didnt even need the steak knife given, it was soft as butter and twice as flavouful. The oxtail hash was a perfect compliment, different textures and flavors to keep the dish interesting. Creamy, smooth with a nice chew from the oxtail which melts in the mouth. Peppercorn sauce finishing the dish, perfect. Duck with celeriac gratin..this didn't last long on my plate. I'm a huge fan of duck in all its forms but this floored me. Crispy rendered skin, pink meat and a beautiful cherry and port sauce. Tenderstem broccoli cooked nicely al dente, roasted carrots that retained so much sweetness and a gorgeous thick au jus to finish the dish. I'll be eating this in my dreams if I don't go back tomorrow and every single day from now on. Just wow. We had a selection of petit fours for dessert, perfect for when you are full but just need a bit of something sweet. The Lemon tart was my personal favorite but the cheesecake was very indulgent and moreish. They even take the time to ensure the piece of delicious brownie on the plate is warm (it's the small touches that show how much they care). The staff are amazing! Attentive, funny and friendly. We felt completely at home while eating some of the best food I've had in a very long time. We couldn't have asked for anyone better than the young lady serving us, she made us feel so comfortable and relaxed. If anyone is reading this while looking for somewhere to eat around the Lancashire area I would recommend highly.More

After a 5 hour drive to visit family even a KFC would have tasted exceptional but this was still a big let down. Took my mum and sister out as a treat, £120 for 3 adults who all left feeling like our Friday evening was...a bust. Very disappointing, expensive for the standard of food. £29 ribeye on the bone steak was poorly cooked and very chewy - waitress recommended medium rare but the fat wasn't cooked through the steak. Duck was very bland tasting - expensive and small so you expect your paying for the flavour not the quantity but disappointed. Lack of children's options - asked for a adult pasta but smaller portion but couldn't have this for my niece as the pasta is pre cooked with chilli. At £15 I think pre cooked pasta is poor. That's before you add meat or fish for the extra £5. Service was pleasant but painfully slow on a quiet evening. City centre prices for a local pub, but not the same standard food or experience to justify those costs. I will acknowledge they took us in without reservation on a Friday evening but it was quiet.More

Decided to try somewhere different and had a ride out to The White Bull at Oswaldtwistle and we were glad we did. The decor is lovely and the staff are really welcoming. Menu has some pub classics on and also some interesting choices. Good wine...menu. We had Argentinian prawns and a Courgette dish to start. My husband had the steak pie which was the best he had had in a longtime and the chips were great. I had sea trout which was in a lovely sauce with parmentier potatoes and veg. We then shared a desert. We will definitely be returning to this lovely restaurant as the roast beef Sunday lunch looked great. Thank you and Well Done to all the TeamMore

Excellent pub food. Good menu of traditional items, classics and new standards, breaded halloumi, focaccia, that kind of thing, thoughtful, nicely served with above average side salads, garnishes etc. About 7 or 8 starters and mains on the main card. Not too many, so a...big plus for that. Decent vegetarian menu too, which we had to ask for. Service was good however. Plenty of beers on tap but only a couple of real ales. No pale ale. A lit fire would be appreciated on a cold evening. Our table was sticky and the candle unlit (I know we should have asked). The restaurant area is pleasant enough but perhaps lacks a bit of character, fire would have helped. Definitely worth a visit regardless.More

Regular customers and always had a fantastic experience. I contacted the White Bull, regarding a dear friends 50th birthday meal celebrations. Sean replied and was so accommodating in prepping and putting on an absolutely fantastic birthday taster menu dinner to celebrate a 50th birthday. It...was everything my friend wanted and more. I cannot thank them enough and as always we will continue to enjoy eating at the white bull. Thank you for a fantastic evening and thank you for being so accommodating.More

The food was very good value for money. We both had 3 courses each, plus drinks and coffees. The Halibut was cooked just right and everything on my plate was very tasty, I will definitely be having it again. My husband said the steak and...ale pie is one of the best he’s tasted. Very friendly staff (Callum) and the pub has a relaxed atmosphere.More

Superb chef & front of house. Utterly refreshing to taste & behold. Family friendly, unpretentious & worth the visit. We went as a family with grandparents. Everyone ordered a different meal. The pie was the best I HAVE EVER had! I ordered the chicken, succulent...& yummy veg & mash. The cheese pie looked like the sort of food I wished I’d never seen bc I’d want one at least twice a week. All presented beautifully. The service was excellent & the Hungarian lady in charge was brilliant at communicating. It was busy. I went to shake the chef - Sean’s hand. Anyone who cooks & presents food like that is outstanding.More

We had lunch here today and it really good. This is a pub rather than a restaurant and menu is effectively a pub menu - fish and chips, pie and mash - but it’s all really good all done in a “homemade” style. There’s plenty...of parking across the street at the church and nothing on the menu is expensive. I recommend a visit and while it was relatively quiet when we went I understand it does get busy so I think booking would be wise.More
