Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

As Lundy Island is a conservation area, the Marisco Ta ten is the key focal point. Lundy is for walkers really and sadly after booking our holiday I became unwell and now have limited mobility. However, this didn’t stop me having a wonderful time, especially...as our Cottage - Square Cottage is right next to the Inn. We ate breakfast, dinner and tea there and every meal was lovely, there is plenty of choice and the staff were brilliant, so helpful and pleasant. I would recommend Lundy Island and ghe Marisco Inn - their drinks selection is brilliant.More

The tavern did not disappoint. Plentiful portions, perfect for when you’ve been out exploring, welcoming staff, and reasonably priced. Loved the fact that some of the meat was local to the island. Really enjoyable visit. Thanks Alice and team, you did a wonderful job.

What a great place. Great selection of food. Had a full English breakfast which was really good value. Quick and hot. Also had dinner. Really good choices. Chilli, sausage and mash, venison pie. Lots of options and vegan/vegetarian well catered for. All eaten in a...roomy, clean restaurant looking over the sea. Relaxed vibe. By far the greatest aspect was the staff. Friendly. Helpful. Funny. Made the Lundy experience so positive Thank you. We will be back ❤️More

Lundy pie is just so lush. Yum yum yummy. Expected it to be basic pub food but it was spectacular. Lunches are average but dinners a super awesome.

Stayed on Lundy for 14 days and ate here every night. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the food varied from good to excellent. Specials change on a daily basis while staples remain constantly available. Full marks to the chef and team for delivering...such quality and variety in a remote location. I'm already looking forward to my 2024 visit!More

We visited mid summer and had promised the kids a late pub lunch after exploring Lundy. Having read all the previous positive reviews it’s fair to say we were a little disappointed with the menu. Chips, pasties, jackets and ciabatta. No children’s menu or healthy...options. It was fairly priced and quick but not quite what we’d expected. The service from the food team was great but the bar staff weren’t especially friendly.More

The pros - Prices not too bad especially considering you don't exactly have any other options and they could rip you off - Good selection of food and veggie options - Food quality was pretty good The cons - Lacked any atmosphere, didn't feel like...a nice place to be - Order was messed up - Counter service was ok at best, not very friendly - No loo (or was out of order) so had to use the public loos outside Unless you are staying on the island and want a cooked meal then I would probably just take a packed lunch instead.More

The food was just amazing at the Marisco Tavern. We had the pie and mash, lamb meatballs, pulled lamp roll, chips, crème brûlée and Japanese mocha. Food was always cooked to perfection and great portion sizes. You could tell the chef love’s cooking! The ales...and ciders were also very good and always nice to see still cider on offer. Proper filter coffee on offer too, which was never burnt. Atmosphere was lovely, inside and out. And…they’ve won the best pub on Lundy every year for over 100 years ;-)More

Wow what a pleasant surprise. Considering this is the only restaurant on the island the food was absolutely amazing. I had Lundy game pie the 2nd visit it was LUSH. Prices really reasonable, genuinely good value.

What can I say? Lundy Island is special in itself and after a day exploring what could be better than the Marisco Tavern. It stays true to the islands traditional values and seems like a museum of all things lundy from the years. Add to...that the countless memorabilia from regular stayers on the island and couple it with a vibrant buzz of conversation about your day and you have the Tavern. Open a tab and relax. Now the food. If you want pretentious go elsewhere because this wholesome food is to die for. Generous portions piping hot and a great selection for a small island. They do run out of certain dishes so dine early if you don't want to miss out. The game pie is the best pie I have ever had. A special island with a Marisco heart beating at its middle.More

I mean lamb shanked, of course! Absolutely delicious and made with the most abundant resource on Lundy. After a decorous interval, I filled any remaining space with the sticky toffee pud. Also, best loo-with-a-view I have visited for some time!

Stayed on Lundy for 3 nights and came here for coffee and cake and an evening meal. Food was and reasonably priced considering the logistics of importing most things (apart for Lundy lamb, goat and venison!) Two excellent choices of real ale kept my husband...happy and I loved the desserts. The real plus point for us was meeting the very friendly staff and finding out more about life on Lundy plus getting a few helpful clues re letterboxing (though we still failed to crack Jenny's cove). We loved the vibe of this place though on day tripper days it is often rammed.More

Just when you think Lundy Island can't get any better....you visit this little gem. We had our breakfasts, lunches & dinners here - plus wines & ciders, and the joy of no mobiles meant excellent conversations and a lovely atmosphere. The staff are friendly and...good natured. Can't wait to get back.More

A friend and I visited Lundy Island via boat in May 2022 for the day. After walking around the island we stopped for a pub lunch at the Marisco Tavern. Small menu consisting of jacket potatoes, soup and pasties. We had chill jacket potatoes with...cheese (extra charge for cheese), can of Thatchers (it’s not on tap) and a cream tea (but it doesn’t include a pot of tea - you have to pay separate for this). Nice food but the chilli was super spicy. The island is amazing and as we were so lucky with the weather it was like being abroad. Burnt to a crisp! There is one ferry onto the island a day and one off the island. Don’t miss it as if I don’t think it runs on a Sunday and they’ve had people sleeping in the church before as they missed the only ferry home!More

I have been visiting Lundy on and off for years, and the quality of the menu has improved exponentially in recent years, with much more choice for those with special dietary needs, including vegans and vegetarians. It used to be that you had to speak...directly to the chef to even get anything but now everything is labelled - and more to the point there actually is something that you don't have to arrange in advance. I Just wish the lunchtime choice was this good! Alas it's the same old sandwiches, pasties and jacket potatoes - safe but hardly inspiring. At least there is better choice of fillings. I know that lunchtimes are less popular - even on boat days, with in the summer months some preferring to sit in the garden with their own food (I guess even more will choose to do this now with money so tight) but a better choice would perhaps encourage them not to - a ploughmans lunch perhaps. or soup - with gluten free bread at least to go with these and for sandwiches so that those who do need gluten free food (and that's quite a lot of us) actually do have a choice. Having said all this, it's always lovely to visit the island and the Tavern is such a big part of the experience that I would always come for lunch here on arrival no matter what - walking through the door to take in the familiar atmosphere of the pub and greet old friends behind the servery and meet some new ones as the staff change and move on.More
