Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Does everything really well. The restaurant is in an old, atmospheric building, ie. a barn. A welcoming waiter met us and gave us a table that suited perfectly. We sat inside but our table was open to the shaded exterior - important in the heat...we are experincing. The menu has plenty of choice and there is a compressive drinks list. We ordered pichets of white and rosé. The dos de cabillaud was the winner but the whole dourade was excellent as well. Great service, great food, great drinks. Open for lunch Friday, Saturday and SundayMore

First visit this year but a little disappointing. 50 diners and 2 waiting staff. One of the two main courses was off so I ended up with a burger, quite nice but not what I was looking forward to eating. Rather disorganised, it took several...minutes to catch a waiter’s attention to ask for our wine as we were half way through our starters and service a little slow. Food pleasant and staff friendly but overstretched !More

With a new owner, this restaurant is still great. In fact, the food offering may be better. It was packed with nearly all tables taken but the service was still very good cheerful and pleasant.

Our wish was for something light and interesting for dinner and La Grange obliged handsomely. A plate of ham salad, enough to feed an army, and a smoked salmon bagel, similarly generous, with the best frites for miles. Factor in the warm welcome and a...50cl carafe of white at six euros, and it was no wonder the place was buzzing with happy clients. This place has changed hands since our last visit - good to see it back on its feet.More

Booked for dinner while staying locally , we both thoroughly enjoyed the quality, presentaion and service. This is a large well managed property which obviously caters for events and parties during high season but as an autumn dining venue it was popular . We will...certainly call in again when in the area and recommended to our B&B host.More

Three visits during our recent holiday. One on the day after arriving for a hot weather al fresco lunch of beef tartar. One evening for the €37 menu. And then on our last evening for something in between. All were excellent, with particularly memorable dishes...being a raw salmon creation, and a highly creative and unusual assiette of milk puddings which may sound bland but was not. Lovely team running the place and the outdoor space is a delight.More

A nice local place to go for easy food, drinks. Unfortunately food other than the burgers and icecreams was not great. Asked our filet steak to be cooked "a point" - pink -& had to return it due to it being overdone. It came back...a bit warmer but still over done. Shame. The salads were equally uninspiring with very little dressing. My son was happy with the chicken burger and the icecreams were decent. Lovely large place to sit but the food could do with improving!More

La Grange, the barn. You arrive through the stage set of high plains drifter visits the alamo. To the right is the rustic looking bar and out door drinking area. Continuing through to the dinning area there is indoor and outdoor seating for a good...number of guests. On each of 4 visits over 3 weeks our Westie got his water bowl before our drinks order was taken. Check the website for the menu's before you go first time as it is extensive with 4? Menu's from 26 to 35 euros, also a regular menu. Great atmosphere most nights. One of our friends said that the Dorade was the best fish she had ever eaten "so good she ate it twice" you could set that to musicMore

I have been to the Grange a number of times over the years. I am always struck by the way the owner has transformed what I think must have been a series of farm outbuildings into a truly unique dining and entertainment centre. Six of...us went for a late Sunday lunch, it was a beautiful but hot day. We were seated outside in a shaded area. Our waiter was just great, we had limited French and he limited English, but all our pathetic attempts to communicate he handled with a smile and good grace. The food was EXCELLENT, tuna, duck, salads all wonderful. As we were a late lunch our shaded area became exposed to the very hot sun, so for desserts it waiter moved us to another table with much better coverage and shade. The desserts were FABULOUS. We return this coming Saturday...I can’t wait!More

We have been going back to La Grange since it first opened. We are never disappointed! This time we had the fish platter and the duck platter. Each dish is large enough to fill you up although we managed a cafe gourmand to push the...notches of our belts out further. It is probably now the most reliable restaurant in Bize and in the summer they have music on Friday nights. This usually starts quite late so does not interfere with chat around the dining table. They did have sand on some of the outside areas last year which looked nice but had attracted some cats. Not a good idea!! I hope that they will have changed that once the evenings are warmer.More

We ate here without a reservation, the food was French tapas with nice small sharing dishes, the food was absolutely delicious, service was good and we had the house wine which was light and fruity. We would definitely come back here again.

Visiting the area we arrived without prior reservation at 8:15 on a Wednesday night. The restaurant as the name implies is located in what was a barn. About 8 tables were occupied mostly by locals. The menu has a la carte selections and two formules...of fixed menus for €26 and €35 (or so). We chose the cheaper and were not disappointed. There were 2 entrees (French onion soup and pork samousa) 2 mains (duck a l'orange and aile- a flat fish ) plus 3 desserts. We both had the soup, served with melted cheese on bread with prosciutto. The duck was better than average and the fish pretty good. Desserts were like everything else -well presented with a pleasing combination of flavours. The wine list featured mostly local products with 6-8 offerings in each of reds, whites and rose. Nearly all were priced in the €15-20 range. We chose a rose which was nothing to write home about but rose is like that. Service was attentive and professional but English was not spoken with confidence. I don't think the Grange holds itself out as fine dining but the meals are well thought out and tasty. This was good value for money French rural eating.More

We have been coming to this area and never eaten here. Tonight found it by chance, after long day we were desperate. The lights drew us in. Despite quite late the staff really welcoming, water tapanade and bread kept us going. Very good mocktail and...wine. I had duck and Aideen Turbot, both excellent, thoroughly recommend, and we'll be back for three courses when we're not travel knackered.More

For the second year running we visited La Grange in a large group of varying nationalities. Our meal choices had been selected in advance, (essential when coping with 40+ people sitting down at the same time). The food was beautifully presented, and delicious. Excellent service,...not too fast and not too slow. There was music for those who wished to dance after the meal had finished. We arrived at 12noon, started the meal at about 12.45 and left (people still at their tables) at 3.45pm. There was no sense of the staff trying to get us to leave before we wanted to. We will certainly go there again before too long. In the summer, there is loads of space for outside eating, but even with temperatures around 15C, the breeze was strong, so we were glad to be inside in the warm.More
