We had made up our minds that today was to be a lazy day. And what does one do on a lazy day, one visits Monpazier and strolls the pretty streets before finding a place for lunch. We were not very hungry having both consumed a croissant and a pain au chocolate for breakfast around 10.00am but the tables in... More

Monday can be a difficult day for eating in France, especially in September when many restauranteurs take their holidays. We decided to go to Monpazier and take our chances because at least, it's a bit touristy. And so it was; at least it seemed as busy as any time we'd been before, if not more so. My partner as ever,... More

We chose this open air restaurant at random amongst several in the beautiful central square. The experiences was OK but the two staff struggled to keep up with the four or five tables they were serving. The water was beautifully cool, the food, we had a range of salads, omelettes etc followed by ice creams, was fine but the experience... More

We love Monpazier, particularly its main square. The Hotel de France has one of the prime positions in one corner of the square. We have eaten here before but will not be doing so again! We received horrendous service which included several other tables as well as us. We were among the first to sit down that evening and ordered... More

Lovely setting in the town square, talk about stepping back in time, so picturesque. Waiter very helpful in explaining menu, Opted for 2 menu du jour and 1 ala carte - 'nicest chicken cesar salad ever', and very plentiful vegetarian salad too. Intended to go back for 2nd visit unfort time run out for us..

A fantastic lunch - staff so helpful and prepared a table of 10 with no fuss. Great ambience and food was plentiful and taste as good as it looked. Many thanks all

The name Rigalous is the name of the owner and the restaurant which is attached to the Hotel de France. The food is reasonable with big portions, but they really need to do a better job of translating the menu into English and not relying entirely on Google translate or Bing. Monpazier where it is situated has many English residents... More

We were staying in the hotel and decided to eat in on our first evening. The menu to begin with was hilarious - Mr Google must to better! There are a great many English people living in the town and area who I am sure if asked when they had a meal there would do a reasonable translation for them.... More

Loved the ceasar salad (as a starter) - had new flavours not had before. The main course steak was bit tough and disappointing. Beautiful magical location on a warm evening.

We ate lunch here in August, the restaurant is nicely located in a corner of the main town square (so good for people watching!), as we had 2 small fussy eaters in tow, we had to choose a place with a kids menu. The restaurant was quiet when we arrived and filled up over the course of the 2 hours... More

The restaurant Les Rigalous has opened his doors in the beautiful region of the Dordogne in the heart of the small medieval village of Monpazier. The chef, Marie Hélène, lays a greedy table inspired by local products périgourdin and realized plate with a lot of originality and to know how to make, the Chef puts it all her heart and we ask for more ! The restaurant is intimate and very warm and small peculiarity very appreciated on Fridays it is couscous!
