We haven’t been here for a few months but have been keen to come back to this place for a while, the last time we was here we was served by Zoe, and it was lovely to see her Saturday night and have her as...our waitress, there’s a new menu which we was excited about and must say it was lovely, what we did find interesting was towards the later part of the evening there was only one member of staff left looking after the guests and restaurant , not that there was anything to complain about , but the fact it looked a little busy I just couldn’t help but wonder if she was ok…hence why my review is a couple days late …..,hopefully next time we won’t leave it as long to come back ..oh they have the Bomb back!!!!!More

Colin and Anne-Marie - on our way from Bexley to Bexhill we turned off the A21 to escape the torrential rain and standing water making our journey treacherous. Imagine our relief when we saw The Chequers Pub and Kitchen in Lamberhurst offering lunch and a...warm and cosy shelter from the storm. We parked the car in the well appointed car park accessed by the side of the pub and rushed in. We were warmly welcomed by Helen and settled in the fresh and comfortable dining area. The artwork on the walls were fun and intriguing making for conversation over Lunch. We ordered drinks and ordered from the lunch menu. I had sausage and mash and Colin had flat ironed steak. The food was beautifully cooked and presented, the staff are welcoming and friendly and prices are competitive. I know we will be hurrying back as soon as we can. The gardens and riverside views are captivating even in a rain storm.More

We had a really lovely evening. The chateaubriand was fabulous and tender. Portions were very generous and the fish and chips were delicious and fresh tasting with crunchy chips with a fluffy centre. Staff were really friendly and helpful. We will definitely return next time...we are in the area.More

Lovely little country pub with brilliant rooms. Staff are excellent, was very warmly welcomed and they were very helpful with setting up the room. They even helped try get me into town to meet a friend. Beds very comfy, and the room is very well...equipped and well furnished for such an old pub. Brilliant character- will stay again and hopefully eat next time as the menu looks fab too!More

Booked Sunday lunch for 12 people to celebrate a 21st Birthday. Helen and the team could not have looked after us any better, just the right level of attention during what was obviously a very busy day. Food and drinks were all spot on. Would...definitely recommend.More

We stayed at the Chequers in Lamberhurst for two nights over our 54th wedding anniversary. It was comfortable and the food was absolutely delicious. The staff were so friendly and thoughtful and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. It had been done up so well...and, apart from the pictures which were not to our taste, we recommend it very highly.More

After 32yrs we returned to the chequers for lunch with the family, my parents owned the chequers until 1991 and I will honestly say the Sunday roast was excellent but please for the love of a beer or two give the staff more glasses, being...told that I couldn't have my drink due to shortage of glasses when we are not overly busy is poor and extremely embarrassing for your staff so help them deliver a better service please. To all the staff working thank you for excellent service and I did rate your changes highly ie Bottle room into a snug with a TV Snooker room changed for more seating. The beer garden still had my late father's handy work on building a BBQ and the remains of the pond 😊 I wish I could of popped into the loft to see if the lady was still planted into a corner, I really miss running the chequers 😣More

Havent been to this pub for years, last time it was attempting badly to be Italian. What a surprise and what a positive change. It's now a traditional English pub and the Food is Super. The Staff are also tremendous. This was a Tuesday evening,...normally a quiet night for most pubs, but there were 5 or 6 groups eating, and all appeared to be enjoying it. We were celebrating our granddaughters 8th birthday. the staff found this out, and at the end of the meal, the chef and his staff came out with a candle and a plate of strawberries with 'Happy Birthday' written in chocolate sauce. Made my granddaughters day. I was also pleased by the bill- very good value. we will definitely visit again soonMore

I went to this establishment with my wife and two friends. We had not pre-booked and we were all impressed by the great choice of menu. My wife is coeliac, so needs gluten-free options and these were helpfully offered. The choice was excellent. Two of...us had the haddock and chips (which happened to be g-f). My wife had melted cheese with cranberry and side salad and a fourth had Huntsmans Plate. We all agreed the food was excellent and amounts generous. Service was attentive and helpful: the staff were genuinely attentive. A great experience.More
