The Brown Trout looked crowded so we drove on the the Elephants Head which l remember from at least 20 years ago as being an excellent country pub. On arrival at about 2.30 in the afrernoon the car parked looked empty and signs on the door made it looked shut. However, we checked and it was open. By the time... More

We visited for a lunch on Boxing Day and we weren't disappointed. It has recently changed management so we weren't sure what to expect. The menu was varied without being overly fussy and the food and service were great. It got very busy in there and with a number of families turning up it was quite refreshing to see the... More

I am aware that this pub has only just been taken over by the new Landlord. We received a warm welcome and good service. There was a good lunch menu, a full menu and a specials board. We both had the fish cakes, it was a good choice. We were the only people there for our reserved table at 12... More

After a day's Christmas shopping, husband suggested we call in on way back home for a late lunch. It's been a few years since he had stopped here but said it had always had a good reputation. Location is beautiful, and a really lovely pub. Staff were very attentive, as was the new owner, who has only been in for... More

Nice looking place and a warm greeting as we entered. from what we supposed was the publican. It was a weekday lunchtime but unfortunately we ended up with only dessert as quite a few things were unavailable from the menu. Also we were served by young bar staff that didnt seem to have fully grasped the service nettle! Polite but... More

We have had Sunday lunch here twice in 3 weeks. Both times I have had the roast beef - just the best I have ever eaten and plenty of it. The smoked partridge starter was out of this world too. Such amazing food in a brilliant old pub perfect for a few pints of Harveys in front of a wonderful... More

Booked Sunday lunch here today because it used to have the most fantastic carvery and I wanted a nice meal out for my daughter and other kids. I knew there was a big problem before we even went in as the car park and surrounding street which used to be completely full was ominously empty. Needless to say, so was... More

Think this place has been taken over since last visit - sadly now seems to have lost the way since our last visit. Service poor and food not very special actualy quite dull and rather over priced. Probably wouldn't bother again which is sad as it used to be great !

Having visited the Elephants Head last year with a friend, had been meaning to go back for some time. It's a beautiful old pub, decorated well in a good location near Lamberhurst (perfect for lunch if you are visiting Scotney Castle or Bewl Water). The manager was working behind the bar due to being short staffed & his service was... More
