Stopped in here to visit garden centre and have lunch in the restaurant. Went in for lunch first. The wife has allergies but she got her gluten free bread with chicken mayo banana milkshake and a fresh cream meringue. Milkshake was outstanding but disappointed with sandwich not a lot of chicken or mayo. I had tomato soup and a knickerbocker glory and a strawberry milkshake. The staff were rushed off their feet but still managed to deliver excellent service. Wife went round garden centre quite small prices were expensive but managed to find an item for the home. Would return to restaurant and would recommend to anyone.

We have been coming here for a few years thanks to friends introducing us. The welcome is always friendly. The food is freshly made and they have a good choice for myself who is coeliac. The views are lovely looking into the marina. There is also a shop which sells a small collection of clothes, gifts etc. There is a good choice of garden decoration and plants.

What an amazing find. Tucked just off the main road Poppies garden centre and cafe. This place was recommended to me and it did not disappoint. I had the smoked salmon with poached eggs and granary bread. On the menu it came with a scone but there was no problem in changing it slightly for me. The smoked salmon was a generous portion and 2 beautifully cooked poached eggs. The coffee, a latte, was delicious. The welcome was warm and the service friendly and quick The view added to the ambience

Found this little gem by accident. It was so good we had lunch there 2 days in a row while staying in Oban. Food and staff are lovely along with fantastic views. We had the fish platter, cheese scone with hot smoked salmon, salmon pate with oatcakes and carrot cake to finish. Highly recommend of all those dishes, very tasty and well presented. Also excellent coffee and all at a reasonable price.

We called for lunch, were informed that the wait would be around 15 minutes and a member of staff took our name, showed us into the shop and said she'd call us when ready. After a 35 minute wait, I asked about the delay, only to be told they'd called us twice already. Whilst in the shop, another party were called to their table, so why not us? Very disappointing, given the rave reviews on here.

We went to poppies mid morning, we both went for the full cooked breakfast it was fabulous, good quality ingredients, well cooked and served piping hot, the coffee was great as well. The staff were friendly and helpful. The view out over the sea was amazing. The COVID precautions were good and there was plenty of space in the café so it felt safe.

Came about this place by accident as it is a garden centre and cafe. We arrived at lunch and were met by a waitress who seated us at a table and social distancing was adhered to. One of us had soup and roll which was excellent and homemade, another had a burger again homemade and the other had a panini. We all thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and we did notice the place was very clean and as soon as someone left the table was sanitised straight away. Great place to go for lunch. Picture is view from outside poppies.

Absolutely faultless - could not recommend the place more! Gorgeous garden centre and gift shop with a wide array of plants, unique gifts and home furnishings (not to mention the incredible display of Christmas lights and decorations!). The restaurant was pleasantly bustling and the staff were extremely attentive - nothing was too much hastle. Service was fast and the food was beautifully presented and delicious!! As if that wasn’t enough, there was a huge selection of cakes in the front cabinet which we were able to away with us. If there is one thing that you can do to brighten up the end of this year it would be to pop into Poppies for a homemade lunch and a browse around the shop!! Perfect day out and even managed to make a start on the Christmas shopping. ☺️

For a breakfast destination you'd be hard pushed to beat here. The full breakfast was great with a choice of eggs , I took poached and they were perfect. Very well presented with the beans in their own ramekin dish for those who don't like beans touching! When ordering my husband asked for extra hollandaise sauce for his eggs benedict. They didn't charge for the extra sauce which has happened elsewhere. Lovely walk through the gift shop and plant section when finished.

We had lunch here with family on a Saturday, the food was both priced well and excellent quality. The view is second to none and the staff are both friendly and very efficient. There is a great shop on your way to the cafe which is upmarket and has some great pieces of furniture, we could have spent a small fortune.

A great location with lovely outdoor seating. This is a very popular lunch spot so you may have to wait a while for a seat as they don’t take bookings but this wasn’t a problem for us. There wasn’t really too many veggie options which interested us and the only soup they had wasn’t vegeterian friendly which was disappointing. However, we decided to go for the trusty macaroni cheese which was very tasty and just the right portion for lunch. There is also a very nice garden centre attached which is well worth the visit!

Cafe very expensive for the food you get. Quite basic with regards what’s on plate. I had a chicken, cheese and chilli panini costing £8.99. What I got for this was two small pieces of chicken a smattering of cheese and a thin scraping of chilli sauce in a panini similar to those you get in Tesco. On the side to accompany this was a small bundle of green leaves (salad). It was ok but nothing exciting about it for £8.99. My dad and sister had the ploughman’s. Two wee slices of French baguette and one oatcake with one tiny pat of butter to use between the three. Two small dishes one with (Branson) pickle one with gherkins. Two wee pieces of cheese, two almost rotten grapes and to fill the plate out green leaves, grated carrot and diced cucumber also for £8.99. I had a cappuccino which I ended up complaining about together with the grapes. Dad, who by the way turned 95 and this was supposed to be a birthday celebration as we were on holiday, had a fresh orange juice and sister had a canned orange drink. Total of bill £43.83 which I think is pretty steep for what we had. I showed the cafe manager the coffee and grapes and although she uttered a very weak apology and said she’d speak to staff she didn’t seem to care. I then spoke to Mark who was really apologetic for what had happened. He offered a replacement coffee or piece of cake to make amends but I thanked him but declined the offer as the bill had been paid in full and we were not after getting anything out of the situation but merely a reassurance that it wouldn’t happen to anyone else. He was very courteous caring and apologetic and I would commend him for the way he handled the issue and I think Poppies is very lucky to have him as part of their team, can’t say that about Lisa the manager though. The gift shop however is a wee gem with lots of lovely unusual items and the staff are friendly and helpful. I wish we had not gone there for dad’s birthday lunch but the shop experience was good. A pity because the two together could be an excellent place to spend some leisure time.

We decided to come for lunch because the reviews looked good. The views are great. I was disappointed that there was no kids menu. I ordered a gourmet chicken sandwich but it was more like a burger and was very dry. The salad and salad dressing were really nice. I felt the portion sizes were a bit small considering the prices. The staff were great and can't be faulted. So a bit of a mixed experience for us

When we visit Oban, a visit to Poppies is always a delight. Excellent food and service makes Poppies the place for us to meet up with friends and we have never felt that we have overstayed our welcome. Very well done.

We stopped of at this garden centre for a browse and decided on stopping for a drink and a bite to eat, we ordered the drinks and a BLT sandwich, I thought £8.99 for a sandwich was steep but like most people you think for that price you're going to be getting something far special then what a supermarket would offer, well how wrong I was. The whole sandwich put together couldn't of cost more then a £1 and all it consisted of was 1 slice of bacon a lettuce leaf and to slices of tomato on a dry sub roll, no mayonnaise nothing and to top it off they put a side salad with it what ever for I don't know as the roll had salad in it anyway and the side salad was bland, dry with no dressing on. Would I recommend food from here at the rip off price?? No but drinks i would stop for but not as my first stop off I wouldn't. Your better off going into oban and getting a proper meal and drink.
