The setting is beautiful, great selection of draft beers and homemade food. Service fairly laid back but pleasant enough. I had home made mushroom, ale and stilton pie and my husband had barbecue burger (smothered with shredded barbecue pork and barbecue sauce)..both yummy and very filling was the verdict. It's a bit of a drive down a track or go... More

Arrived by boat and plenty of free mooring space at this time of the year, even though the weather was low 20's and sunny. Great place to enjoy a good draft beer and a meal. As the weather was perfect for outside dinning there are many outside tables to chose from. Good service and food arrived hot and nicely presented.... More

Excellent, nourishing soup in a very pleasant garden by the river. Arrived on The Big Dog ferry on a beautifully sunny lunchtime. Landlord was quite brusque but efficient.

Goodness knows how this place was packed especially with the remote location, attitude of locals and long wait for food. We were a large group or canoe and kayak paddlers camping nearby who planned the visit and advised the pub in advance of our intention to end our paddle there with a late lunch. Our arrival timing was planned with... More

Good meal in a lovely location and the children enjoyed themselves, however we did have to wait for about 45 min for the food to arrive. Would go back again, but probably pre-order (if we could) or at least decide what we wanted in advance.

The Locks Inn website proudly states that since 1670 Wherries and other craft hauled goods between the ports of Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth, through the lock, to Bungay and its thriving brewing and malting industries. So you would expect nautical visitors to the Locks Inn to be warmly welcomed. Unfortunately on this occasion this was not the case. I've been... More

We visited on a Thursday before school holidays so surprised to see how busy it was given remote location which is its charm. Ordered a burger which took over an hour to appear - unacceptable and spoilt the trip for us. Young waitress and barman having to take the flack from hungry customers all waiting ages. Some had to leave... More

A family day out and what better than a pub beside a river on a sunny and hot day.Normally a very busy restaurant service but a nearby event had happily reduced the crowd somewhat. As a result we had a quick service.Sadly out of Venisson Shepherds pie we opted for a steak and ale pie and what a delicious meal... More
