Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Wonderful food and a brilliant service. We sat on the terrace overlooking the Chateau and the river and watched the lights come on as darkness fell. We were so impressed we went back two days later and it was equally impressive. The maitre d’ who...I believe is the owner was extremely attentive and there is a French waiter and English waitress so no misunderstandings.More

Service was great- food was amazing -starters - I had the tomato tabillade which had melon and mozerrella,...my husband had languistine, mains I had the cabillaud and my husband fillet de beouf , then desserts and Irish coffee- couldn’t fault anything!!! View from the terrace is wonderful, balance of flavours and portion size was great. Can see they are passionate about the food!!! Well done !! Fabulous!!!More

We came here on the last night of our holiday on recommendation of our French hosts. We were not disappointed! There is not a large menu selection but everything is cooked freshly to order and is delicious! Good selection of wines also. You need to...order your dessert at the same time as everything else. We didn't as we thought we would be full, but the portion sizes were just right. Desserts looked delicious! All the staff were friendly and helpful and spoke English The other great plus is the stunning view of the canal and the chateau. booking is essential so make sure you get a table on the terrace, weather permitting. Very deceptive from the street entrance.More

Small friendly and popular restaurant where booking is essential. The ambience is calm and the staff are both attentive and highly efficient. Food is beautifully presented and simply scrumptious. This restaurant benefits from not only first class food and service but also stunning views over...the valley with Josselin Chateau framing the view on one side. There is a balcony for meals on warm days but t wherever you sit the views are good. I had the duck whilst two in our party had veal and one had fish. We all agreed that our dish was excellent, proven by clean plates after mopping up the sauce with artisan bread. The excellent strawberries we chose were placed on a choux bun base around a strawberry cream with the pastry top dusted with icing sugar. It was accompanied by a strawberry glacé and strawberry sauce. My wife had the baked apple with cider sorbet and said it was delicious. The attention to detail was exceptional from the mackerel pate and toast amuse bouche, bottled still and sparkling water to the petite fours with the coffee. Following this excellent meal including wine, which could rival any first class restaurant in Brittany, we were surprised by the modest bill. I can certainly recommend this restaurant.More

We took a chance and called in here not having booked, but were lucky and a table was available. The service was attentive without being obtrusive. The food was gorgeous. There are great views from the restaurant, especially if you have a balcony table.

very helpful at the point of booking restaurant was busy on a Friday night so we were glad to have booked in advance and were given a super table portions tiny so choose wisely, if something's not to your taste you'll go hungry as happened...with me; I chose a starter with blue cheese and it was terribly strong - not for me main was delicious would have liked more information on the wine list - we chose a C du Rhone which when we saw the label was 14.5 ABV but too late, it was opened before we knew that, our mistake restaurant was raising money charitably by way of a proportion of the bill going to the Breast Cancer Awareness event locally which was a lovely touch we would go again but we would choose differently or maybe try a lunchtime; at 100euros for 2, we went to bed rather hungryMore

Josselin is a beautiful ancient town and well worth the 1.5 hr journey from our holiday location. La Table d'O was highlighted in The Lonely Planet Guide and it lived up to the recommendation. The staff were warm and friendly. The food was perfectly cooked...using locally sourced produce. The meal was a feast for the eyes let alone the stomach! My steak was full of flavour and probably the best I have eaten in BrittanyMore

Another first class meal enjoyed here, served by welcoming staff. Brilliant food for an amazingly good price, with a brilliant view of the chateau to add to the experience. We've been coming here for 16 years and it seems to get better and better. If...the weather is good, book early to get a table on the balcony for the best views in Josselin. Consistently good and very tasty meals. A pleasant welcome followed by helpful and courteous waiting on the table. This is the local restaurant by far to have a celebration meal with a view that is rather special, but book in advance if you want a...table with the best view. An effort is made to speak English if necessary which can be a relief especially if there is something on the menu that GCSE French did not prepare you for!More

It is closed Sunday and Monday from recollection. Its pretty standard in rural France these days for the better restaurants. It is run by a husband and wife team with little help. Its worth waiting for though.

Dear Steve, I don't recall if there was a children's menu, however the people were so obliging I'm sure they would provide something suitable if you asked them. Hope you enjoy your visit.
