It was the first time we had eaten at the Moody Mare and we thought it was a really lovely pub. The food was delicious but the politeness and courteous staff made our meal. The cost of the meal was great too as we 'Ate Out to Help Out' though if we had paid full price we thought it was good value for money. We will be back but next time with friends!

Six of us visited for lunch on the first day the pubs and restaurants were open after lockdown and we could not fault it. The App ordering system was easy to use and the pub was well organised. Thank you to Ben and the team, we were very well looked after, amazing food and great service.

We have eaten here many times and the service and food is always good. Although they specialize in aged steak, I have never tried it. Tonight my husband and I both chose the sirloin steak and it was fabulous. They offer dauphinois potatoes rather than chips, although I’m sure you could have chips if you asked. Along with the field mushroom and tomatoes, we ordered French peas (Cooked with lettuce, bacon and cream) which were delicious! Our waitress, Brook was lovely and manager, Ben, is superb. Another fine meal at The Moody Mare!

We visited for lunch on a Wednesday and were made to feel very welcome on arrival and throughout. We were invited to take a table in the tent-tipi in the garden which is spacious and has a nice ambiance. We both selected the all-you-can eat mussel option (traditional moules marinieres) and were particularly impressed with the quality and size of the mussels. The food was well presented and the sauce was delicious. Needless to say that we asked for a second serving which again was well presented. The service was polite and attentive and will definitely visit again in the future.

Attended for a family birthday after reading the reviews was encouraged to book after being disappointed here on our last visit a year or so ago. This time around it was Slow service, staff not very friendly and the food was absolutely dreadful Frozen greasy calamari, ribs with hardly any meat and very similar to microwave supermarket ribs, burger didn’t taste of meat just herbs and not very nice. Scampi was tasteless and watery/ mushy inside. A fairly expensive meal and very disappointed Will not be returning again.

Cbeebie74, Wow i couldn't have done a better job myself of slating our business of 20 years, Not one sign of positive critique, frozen greasy calamari, cooked fresh and served to over 200 people last week with no negative feedback anywhere. I cannot speak for Syd the squid but he would have been disappointed at his culinary performance. Slow service, not normally but maybe with the chefs dealing with extreme heat in the kitchen this weekend, my apologies. Miserable staff , i doubt it, certainly not as a whole, sometimes we do see the mirror effect when the team are dealing with certain customers. Our short ribs from Smithfield usually delight and again over 100 portions served this week with no negative feedback from the floor, sometimes there maybe some fat, my apologies, we will of course have a conversation with Percy the pig and ensure he does a few more laps around the farm to tone up his physique. Scampi is the best we can buy so not sure, again lots sold with no negative feedback, we will have a chat with Herby the beefburger and make sure he is not over doing it. Expensive meal., not really, but i suppose if you compare it to Weatherspoons it probably is. Thankyou for your custom but as you say you will not be returning so we can all breath a sigh of relief. Graham ( owner) in full support of my amazing team who do a brilliant job who lots of people seem to like.

Meet with friends, first time in 18 months, had we been by ourselves, we would have probably left during the main course. The dinning area is pleasantly quirky, unfortunately the uneven floor = wobbly chair. Apparently the scotch egg starter is great, but the calamari not so, more batter than calamari, plus erring on the chewy side. Ribeye steak not the best, plus asked for medium/rare, but received more rare/medium tbh. Dauphinois was burnt on the bottom and lacked flavour. Schnitzel, meant to be thin with a crispy breadcrumb covering, not at the Moody though, thick and far from crispy, with undercooked chips. Service generally poor to be honest, failure to bring cutlery asked for, still water when asked for fizzy, couldn’t operate card machine properly, or do basic mental arithmetics. On airing the food issues we were offered 20% off the food, and a free dessert, we declined the dessert.

This used to be my favourite place to eat, however after eating there the other day it has gone right down hill...it was me and my partners first date night in over a year and half (due to covid and having a baby) I booked the teepees which I was so excited for! The teepees are lovely but the food was rotten! I could shop in Aldi’s frozen section and cook a better meal that that (when I say cook I mean bung it in the oven food and it would still be better) , I only had scampi and chips so wasn’t expecting much but the frozen chips hadn’t even been cooked properly and were hard and inedible , I didn’t even eat one, I told them this but no one cared. No offer to change it, cook some more, money off anything 🤷🏽‍♀️ And my partner had a chicken burger which he said was bland and no good... safe to say il save the £70 next time and just go Aldi!

Used to be lovely with good choice of enjoyable meals. Whilst staff are friendly and helpful, the menu has been quite reduced, is pretty dull and food largely disappointing. Mostly just burgers, fish, scampi, beef or chicken you could get anywhere and probably better prepared. It’s a real shame. I DO appreciate the higher costs, difficulty finding staff, etc., that the hospitality industry, as a whole, is suffering but when you go out for a meal you want something other than the same old. Everything feels flat, like an under par cafe now. Soggy scampi, soggy chips. Tasteless Peri Peri chicken wrap. Could have had similar, but nicer, at home. It’s a real shame. We’ve had many enjoyable meals there in the past and taken visitors/friends whenever we could but the last few months, not so much. I hope things improve and really wish them well but, for now, it’s just a bit of a let down and not worth the journey/price. With things as they are re cost of living, etc., a meal out needs to be a treat, not a costly disappointment. I actually feel quite sad writing this as I’ve loved The Moody Mare over the years but others should know what to expect, currently. Hoping my review might prompt improvement.

We met with friends for an early evening meal. We were offered a table inside or outside in a heated tipper, as the inside tables were well spaced we opted for inside. Drinks were quickly served at the table including a very nice bitter. The food was delicious, my portion of ribs was huge and nicely cooked. Overall the atmosphere was relaxed and I felt safe with the COVID-19 protocols they had in place. The staff were friendly and attentive and the service was good. It all added up to a very pleasant evening with friends we hadn’t seen for a long time.

We came here as a family of 4. We didn't book but they had room for us. We sat on a table outside but after a few minutes a lovely staff member said he could put us on a nicer table. We had drinks and a starter, it was evening so it was getting chilly. The lovely man brought us out some blankets for us without us having to ask. After our starter he said there was an empty table for us to eat our mains inside the lovely tent where it was warmer. The main meals were fantastic. There was a good range of gluten/dairy free meals to choose from and the chef was happy to change up a meal so I could eat it with my allergies. Thank you to the very friendly staff who made our meal lovely!

First in the restaurant. Love the Tipee but floor slightly sloping making it not that comfortable. Very strange as i picked the pub to sit in but was told that the Tipee was the only option to eat in. 45 minutes for the meal to come. Venison burger had no taste and was so overcooked it was inedible. Lots of black spots on chips. Left 3/4 of meal. They very kindly gave me a free dessert, but the Lemon posset not set at all and very watery. Very sad as the first time was amazing. Avoid this place like the plague!

Travelled from Devon, got stuck in awful traffic and was late, although I did tell them. Held my table and were very understanding. Knew exactly who I was when I arrived and made me feel so important after a rubbish day. Food was fab, service was attentive without being too much and the setting outside under canvas was fab.

If I could give a minus score I would. Terrible service we booked a table took 30 mins to be seated. Then drinks were ordered the wrong drinks were sent twice! Also ask for large measure we’re sent small but charged large. We waited for food for two hours to come but we asked for the bill as it was already past 9, the bill came out they tried to charge us for a bottle of wine we didn’t have and beers we didn’t have. Said it was because they were short staffed so they were getting things wrong. We then challenged This bill and they gave us another bill which was also wrong. They had plenty of staff they had 4 people just standing behind the bar chatting. Will not be going back, other patrons also had the same issue.

We were travelling from Northants to Maidstone to visit relatives and wanted somewhere to stop for an early evening meal. We were given the tipi experience and we loved it. The atmosphere was great and the food was delicious, just perfect. We couldn't fault it in anyway. A special mention is needed for our server for the evening. Jodie was very friendly, cheerful with a beautiful smile, very courteous. Once we told her that 2 people in our party were deaf and relied on lipreading she removed her mask so that they were treated equally as the rest of the party. Other members of the waiting team were just as friendly and helpful as Jodie. We have already recommended your place to our relatives and hope my review will help others. Thank you for making our evening enjoyable and hope to come back soon.

The Moody Mare "Tipis Experience" proved to be the perfect location for our family Sunday "Birthday Lunch" for 15 relatives. Food was excellent, portion sizes were generous and the service was spot on! Our particular thanks to Brooke for looking after us on our special occasion. Although it was a pretty hot day, the good ventilation in the Tipis kept us all cool and we would recommend you try it for yourself.
