Took my 86 year old dad for a drink today. Went to the bar and stood for nearly 15 minutes waiting to be served as the bar had nobody behind it. Walked round the corner and the lady was making coffees for a table outside. I asked if she would be long and was met with a glare and said... More

We stopped at the bell for lunch whilst walking with the kids. Two roast beefs, a roast lamb and sausages and chips! Everyone enjoyed lunch, the local bitter was exceptional. My wife, who cooks a mean roast, said it was the best roast she has ever had away from home. I think it was good, but obviously not as good... More

We keep coming back because at its best this is a really good place to eat. BUT twice now, even though had booked in advance, we have had to wait for over an hour even to start our meal. And on the last occasion, when the food finally did arrive, the meal was certainly not up to the standard we... More

As we only live around the corner I visit here regularly with my family. Great specials menu, deserts are always a hit! Always great food and fantastic service. Highly recommend!

Met here recently for midweek lunch with two other couples, one of whom had been before. The car park was full when we arrived but our table had been booked in advance. When dining out I usually avoid ordering steak but against my better judgement went for the rib-eye medium /well. Unfortunately this had to be sent back with another... More

Went there for a family Sunday lunch on 10th April. Very friendly staff, good selection of wines and ales and good choice of food including a liquorice cheesecake! I had a lamb roast which was very enjoyable as were the other dishes my family chose. The staff were very polite and attentive and the prices were fair. I would recommend... More

Four of us met up for mid-week lunch at this lovely old pub. Our meals were all tasty, well proportioned and good value. The men drank beer and said it was proper real ale. The ladies drank wine by the glass - good wine at reasonable cost. We all enjoyed our lunch and drinks here and will not hesitate to... More

Visited at 2pm on a Sunday having booked the day before. Really enjoyed our Sunday lunches of roast beef and roast pork. Excellently kept Adnams Southwold Bitter and very pleasant and polite service. We've been before and will be back, I think perhaps they could try and reduce the table numbers slightly as it does appear rather slightly over crowded... More

Despite having booked a table for 6-8 people three months in advance, there was no table when my guests arrived for my birthday celebration and several tables were pushed together, as they were vacated, leaving 8 of us only able to communicate with our immediate neighbours. I had asked for a large round table to enable the two of us... More
