By far the most eccentric place you can dine out in the area. The place might be a bit intimidating at first but once you’re welcomed by the host you’ll immediately feel at home in his world. Very intersting, culinaary experience

This was a very nice experience! This is a "one-dish per meal" restaurant, everybody eats the same food. The setting is original (animal (hopefully ;-) skulls as decoration, majestic wooden tables and benches, a very nice thick slate as a "reception" area. The host was...friendly and provided everything we needed. The food was exceptional (taking into account allergies), served in bowls from which you can take what and how much you want. The really nice part is that if you don't like a certain food, you have plenty other things to eat. The food was balanced and off-the beaten track. Everything was very original, for example: sauerkraut with a very fresh taste and (I think) halibut. If you are in the area: Tchar Scaille is certainly worth a visit!!! Reservation is necessary, the price is more than reasonable (I paid 28€ per person without drinks).More

Rustic Ardennes cooking with a twist

Completely different food experience, rustic and so new . Go there hungry and leave full . Unique dish of the day , but so many different flavors, you are in for a treat.

Excellent Unique and Eccentric Restaurant

We were staying in a rented house in Fumay and before our trip had searched TA and other sites for local restaurants within about a 15 km radius. Most seemed to be closed or had very poor reviews however our house owners had mentioned this...place so we googled it and found that it is listed under Thilay. It is only open Friday to Sunday and you need to book. It is in the middle of nowhere so you will have to drive but it is easily found using google maps (but not Sat Nav). The building has been beautifully restored. The theme of the place is "viking" and the man who runs it is a real eccentric. You pay a fixed sum of Euros 28 for a three course meal. It is a fixed menu - there is no choice and the owner brings out the food and explains what it is. It was all quite unusual but the main course had a big helping of pork which was delicious with lots of veg and other things. There is a good choice of beers, both bottled and draught and house wine which was very good sold in litres, half litres or the glass. To add to the eccentricity when you are ready for your next course, another drink or anything else you all have to bang very loudly on the table and the owner will come over! Great food and great evening. A unique experience not to be missed!More

Great lunch

What a great and special place. Food, entourage, chef, service, everything was special and really tasteful.

What a place!

One menu home made only with local and fresh products, amazing atmosphere. Open on Friday, Saturday, Sunday in the middle of the forest. Just go!
