Havent been here in ages however friend booked it so went along. Wow this place is expensive and not worth the money. Food was medicore. We ordered the camembert to share at £13.95 when it came out it was a small one not a sharing one and we wasnt given plates!!! a portion of chips at £5.95 The belly of pork was tasteless and came out with sprouts - I ike sprouts but not many people dont just seemed random. Overall we all said we would not return one of the waiters was so miserable that we refused to pay the service charge that they added to the bill.

Hadn’t been here for years due to the abrupt manner of and lack of customer service from the landlady. The food however was very good with emphasis on fresh fish. Returning this month the pub was looking tired and the blackboard of specials and Sunday roasts messy and tatty. We were welcomed by young friendly staff and advised of items not available-this sadly included two of the three white wines available by the glass. We were advised that the wine list contained some “inaccuracies “ which turned out to be the prices! We were told there had been no time to change the prices( the place was virtually empty at that time alone) . We told the waiter he had to charge us the price listed to which he replied “ I can’t do that I’m afraid”. The increase was not much but it was the principle. We did buy a couple of glasses ( as we were celebrating different bits of news) but the “ discretionary service charge “ was not added and we simply rounded up the cost as we felt it was not the waiter’s doing. If he is the owner he has committed a criminal offence. The food was mixed in quality but I will certainly not be returning for obvious reasons.

Went to the Cock Inn at 13:00hrs with my wife for lunch. We were shown to our table and our drinks orders were taken while we looked over the lunch and main food menus. After a short while our drinks were brought across and we were asked if we were ready to order our food , the member of staff forewarned us that we may have a minimum wait of 30 minutes. We noted what he told us and placed our orders. During our wait the staff member checked we were ok , asked if we wanted further drinks and apologised again for the delay. When our lunch arrived it was worth the wait and as we were in no rush. The wait gave us the opportunity to relax , chat and just enjoy doing nothing while waiting for lunch. I would definitely return on the basis of this visit and the member of staff who represented the Cock Inn did the business proud. He really knew his job and hit the perfect balance of being attentive without being intrusive or annoying. (We’ve all had the experience of being asked “Is everything ok?” Every five minutes). In conclusion , if you want to take an afternoon to not be rushed and have great food your search is over 👍🏻

We went here for what we hoped would be a lovely relaxing meal how wrong could we be One of the female chefs was shouting and swearing at the head chef throughout our entire meal. The head chef walked out and our meal was delayed while the so called landlord persuaded him to come back. Eventually he arrived back and our meals were served by a lovely waiter We asked for the dessert menu but were told there would be no desserts as the chef was refusing to make these. We paid our bill and walked past the landlord who didn’t even acknowledge us. Absolutely disgusting we will be taking our custom elsewhere as we have never ever experienced this before.

We ordered the Fish Pie, one of the ‘specials’. What arrived looked OK apart from the strange side of whole carrots and nearly cooked sprouts. The challenge was to find the fish amongst the mass of potato and cheese. Eventually I did find a small amount including one prawn. The taste could only be described as ‘bland’ - probably due to all those potatoes. All this for £18.95! Plus two glasses of Chardonnay for only £19. The venue itself is stunning but the Fish Pie and exhorbitant prices seriously let it down.

Great evening in the bar area we had reserved. Three of us had the fresh cooked Fish and chips from the new menu and it was delicious and plentiful. My husband had a burger and even thought was tasty it didn't look value for money but he enjoyed it. Hopefully we will return to try something else on the menu

The serving staff were friendly, but the roast beef I had was the toughest I have ever had, I could not cut through with my teeth and had to just chew until I had softened it enough to swallow, after that I left the rest, unfortunately one of the 2 roast potatoes I had must have been green as it tasted vile and it took my ages to get the taste out of my mouth. My mother's beef was just as bad and she complained, to their credit they swapped her to the lamb, but is was all chunks of fat and so she left that as well. My step father's beef was apparently ok enough to eat, but not great. My wife had the vegetarian option and this was nice. My son had the vegetarian burger and it was ok. We skipped the pudding after this and left. All in all we would not recommend Sunday roast and will not be going back again to pay for food I can cook better at home.

I took my daughter for lunch on 26th January, my daughter had Tiger Prawns in garlic with gluten free bread, The bread was stale which I told the waiter, he then told the kitchen staff, and we heard the kitchen staff say, what does she expect it's gluten free bread. The waiter did agree the bread was stale. I had the fish pie, which the sauce was like water, probably just heated up in the microwave over.I would expect a fish pie meal costing £17.95, and the tiger prawns costing £8.50. to be a lot better quality than this. We were going to stay and have a sweet and coffee. But decided not to, seeing the quality off the food we had.

Awful meal. Food was fine but we had kitchen staff swearing, the chef walked out, food took ages. The landlord kept out of the way and just ignored the customers. On the way out the landlord thanked us!!?? First time he had said anything.Never again. First and last visit here.

Lovely Sunday Lunch - amazing food. Waiter couldn’t have been nicer. Apparently some probs in the recent past with a female member of staff (we asked about as read prev reviews), but this person is no longer employed 🤷‍♂️ For us, we had a great experience and have no complaints, would happily recommend for the quality of the food. The staff were amazing 👍

Visited for lunch today with my husband. We didn’t book but received a hearty welcome. Last time we visited was probably before Covid. Drinks were good and service excellent. Varied main menu, lunch menu and specials. Everything was available. My husband had the Shepherd Neame Autumn ale and Bacardi and coke for me. For starter we had duck terrine which was very tasty, with an attractive salad garnish and rustic bread. Not greasy like some duck pates. Main course my husband had the liver and bacon with mash and vegetables. I chose half a pheasant with vegetables and they kindly did a jacket potato for me. I have never had a pheasant as big as that! …..it beat me! I couldn’t manage dessert but my husband managed a strawberry ice cream which was tastefully decorated with redcurrants. One of the best meals we’ve had for a long time and we would definitely recommend and return there ourselves. Thank you to all the staff for making our day superb.

Booked a table at our new local and we were blown away by the quality of the food. My wife had the lamb roast and I quote “best lamb I’ve had in years”. I had the Chicken Tikka special and it was gorgeous, cooked to order medium hot. Fantastic service from a great group of staff and we had the opportunity to thank the chef in person. We will return next Sunday and many more times to come

My husband and I visited for the first time today and were pleasantly surprised. I had lamb shank, my husband had the oriental duck, both were delicious. I had a latte which was much nicer than some coffee shops I’ve been to. The cherry on top was the service, from the moment we walked in until we left, we were made to feel very welcome. We were the only people in there, presumably that was because it was Monday lunchtime and there was a road closure. Even so, the pub had a lovely, warm feel to it. We will definitely be back, my only regret is that we haven’t been sooner, as I’ve driven past it hundreds of times. If you’re unsure where to go, I definitely recommend giving it a go!

New Year's Day for a pub lunch with my brother's family passing through at very short notice. We were not disappointed and the food was of good standard with three of us opting for their burger, one ham.egg and chips and one fish pie. Very tasty. I would recommend it for a decent, but not expensive pub grub. Plus they take dogs in what they say is the bar area, in which it was no different to any restaurant area I have been in lately.
