Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our experience today was fantastic, from the moment we walked in to a warm friendly welcome, we were shown to our table and the menus explained. Our 2 year old was given some cars and crayons to occupy his time which he loved. We went...with staff recommendations for food and were very satisfied both portion size and quality, three very happy guests. A great level of service and friendly team, we will certainly be back.More

Lovely lunch in relaxed setting. Popped in for a quick lunch and chose the Sizzling Duck. It was delicious.

Very disappointed and will NEVER be returning. Used to class here as my local however after todays experience I will never be returning. Firstly I ordered a beef and gravy sandwich to be told they haven’t got sandwiches on today and we were asked had...anyone informed us of this which they hadn’t. Secondly when my boyfriend went to place his order the waitress had decided to leave the table. I then had no choice but to order the gammon which I asked to have fries with. My partner ordered pork loin and they did not ask what he would like with that I.e mash chips potatoes. No longer having placed our order I heard someone else place an order at the bar asking for a sandwich and to be told that’s fine. Then the waitress came over to our table to be told they had no mash to go with the pork but we never had an option. Anyways when my meal came out the waitress asked who’s the steak and veg were baring in mind she was holding gammon (she hadn’t a clue) what she was handing out and it came with homemade chips which I did not request as I requested fries. The fries then came out soaking with grease and tasted heavily like grease too the pot they were served in also had a pool of grease at the bottom.DisappointedMore

Visited this place a few times now when in the area but the last experience suggested it may be time to spread our wings and try elsewhere. Whilst prices are creeping up everywhere, they seem to have increased disproportionately at The White Swan. And sadly,...the attention to detail and customer service has not improved to reflect. Ok, all staff have to learn, all places can get busy and sometimes mistakes can happen, but the moral of the story is when a pub / restaurant is lead from the front and not just allowed to trundle along, new staff will perform and pick up the right behaviours quicker, customers will feel that the place is managed and under control and mistakes will be reduced or resolved in a more structured manner. Smiles cost nothing, and given what we paid, I think the staff should have been rolling around on the floor with laughter never mind smiling.More

Great food with a friendly local staff. The food was really good and inexpensive for the quality of the food. We sat outside undercover as we have two dogs as dogs are not allowed inside which I totally understand but a great alternative for dog...owners. Nice beer, friendly landlord, great food and 200 yards from our rental property. As well as The White Swan Ovingham the village itself is also very charming.More

Visit yesterday 8th July for a pub meal and drinks with the family. The atmosphere, food and drink were of a high standard. The service was really good, would have given 5 stars but they forgot to ask about food allergies so when the food...came out a bit of guess work went on over what had been added to a couple of side garnishes that weren't expected.More

So disappointed! Had a few drinks and watched some lovely food being brought out to customers. We had a late lunch and opted for fish n chips and mince n dumplings as they seemed to be popular choices. Ate at 4pm and was surprisingly served...burnt fish n chips and a burnt dumpling. We can only assume both had been re-cooked given the time we ate. Such a shame as it seems a lovely pub and maybe if we had eaten earlier we may have had a different experience but that’s no excuse. Our food should have been served freshly cooked. Didn’t feel comfortable to complain and won’t be returning or recommending. They really let themselves down.More

Went to walk in for a pint to be told no dogs allowed, felt gutted. Then the guy said have a seat in the beer garden I will send a member of staff to take your order… faith in humanity is totally restored 10/10

Mothers day Sunday lunch, tasty, hot and good selection of fresh vegetables. The Mother's were offered a complimentary glass of Proseco or Bucks Fizz which was a lovely, thoughtful surprise. Service was very good with friendly, helpful staff. Thank you
