Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very rarely treat ourselves to a Sunday lunch out, but today we did. We weren't disappointed! Delicious food - the sirloin of beef was 'melt in the mouth', the veg was beautifully fresh, roast potatoes perfectly crispy on the outside and the Yorkshire pud -...yum yum! We even had pudding - very naughty. Hubby had treacle tart - delicious - I had Bailey's brûlée - two of my favourite things in one pot! What's not to like! As Craig would say - Gorgeous! xxxx <3 would highly recommend and will be doing this again! xx Lovely atmosphere as always, welcoming, great service xxMore

My husband, Labrador pup, and I visited this pub three times over a three day Dartmoor break. We really were bowled over with the warm welcome we received each time we visited. Each member of staff was totally charming, helpful and friendly. We ate lunch...on one of the days and it was very tasty - the black pudding Scotch egg was SO good! We had a half portion of scampi and a half portion of ham, egg and chips (only because we were eating again in the evening as it was our wedding anniversary). It really wasn’t a half portion though and we would happily have paid more than we were charged. We didn’t end up cooking our meal that evening!! We visited on the Sunday and the Sunday roast looked top notch! The pub was packed. I own and run my own hospitality business and I know how hard it can be. Well Done guys - you deserve to do well ❤️More

Popped in as a large family group (11) and looked after really well. The Good - We had arrived before the kitchen opened but the staff were polite and came out to take our order in advance. The food was exceptional, and everyone had ordered...different meals including the 5 kids, all came out together and all devoured. No complaints over the food. The Bad - It's tucked away (but if you are in the area I would highly recommend going there, probably the best food I have had in a long time).More

What a lovely welcome we had from the landlord and some of the locals who were at the bar. We had a very good lunch, fresh mussels from Fowey for me served with fries, and Steak and Stilton Pie for my husband that came with...fresh vegetables, gravy and hand cut fries. The mussels were the best I have had for years and the pie was delicious too. Nice surroundings in this traditional village pub and it was lovely and clean - no sticky tables! We will be back. Thank you.More

From the beginning of our stay at scenary cottage , which was only 2 doors from the bridford inn. Sam and Dean where the epitome of hospitality. I have truly never been to any place that made my family and dog feel as welcome. It...was the best start to a beautifully sunny week they continued to be helpful with any questions we had about the area. The food also was amazing to which the waiter actually brought the fall chalk board menu over to us. Which made us all very that extra bit special we didn't unfortunately catch his name. But I'm sure he'll know who he is when he sees our mug shots which I'll upload with this review . All the locals here Where equally friendly. But I would say the bridford inn is the heart of a very magnificent little town. All our love sheena, Neill, mum and Andy and the star of the show milly the dogMore

Difficult to fault this friendly pub. A cheery Yorkshire welcome even though we are only occasional visitors. A warm fire, good range of beers, I'd personally recommend the Jail Ale and good home cooked food, all fleshly cooked. My choice was venison pie, one of...the best I'd eaten and a proper pie, not a stew in a china dish with an 8 inch puff pastry lid. Definitely worth a visit.More
