Quality poor snd very small portions. Fish was all batter and no fish, chips were few a far between, also considering they were cooked fresh not very hot. Also pricy to say the least. Much better chips a da harbour in Lerwick.

Really great chippy, totally understated and unexpected. I had scallops and chips they were cooked to perfection. Brilliant
Easily the best gluten free fish & chips I've ever had. The batter on the fish was perfect, and the chips were crispy on the outside and super-soft on the in side. They were sooooooo good. It was my first time having haddock and it...didn't disappoint. Very tasty. If I ever make it back to Shetland I am making a visit to Frankie's a priority.More
On a brief vacation stay in the beautiful Shetland Islands we happened upon Frankies at lunch time and took a break to enjoy a delightful meal. The best haddock and smoked haddock we have ever had along with the home made mushy peas. Definitely not...to be missed if you are in the area.More
This is a great chippy, with sit in and takeaway options. Their fish and chips are justifiably famous, with the fish being so fresh and tasty, and they serve so many other things too - sea food of course and also chicken and burgers among...others.More
This is an award-winning chippie, and certainly the fish and chips are very good, not the absolute best I have had in Shetland, but then Shetland is noted for outstanding fish cookery. It is ecologically sound too, big on sustainability. The surroundings are beautiful and...the place itself pleasant, though oddly lacking in atmosphere. Service is brisk and efficient and prices reasonable. There's a nice outside terrace to see the views from.More
What a poor experience, called in for lunch, had a Scampi & chips supper and a sausage supper. When meals were bought to us I thought they had made a mistake and bought us child’s portions. Very small quantity and even the chips were Luke...warm. Scandalously over priced and tiny portions. Won’t be coming back here until the portions and quality improve.More
We stopped in here at the end of a long tour to see Shetland’s award-winning fish & chips shop. We got the big fish & chips battered, small fish & chips panko-breaded and mushy peas. There were many other options on the menu for our...meal, but we opted for the standards on our first visit. It was quite crowded, requiring either a reservation or takeaway, but food came out quickly. Overall, the food was pretty well-done. We’re certainly glad it’s here, upholding the classic tradition.More
We have been going to Frankies since in inception. we "local" Unfortunately, in recent visits, the take away portions are tiny in comparison to previous. You only find this out once you have departed. In future, as this is a good "chip shop" I will...be opening the box before I leave and check. This review is only made in the hope that portions well return to more favorable amount for the £13 price tag as at present my last servings were a joke.More
Have seen and heard so many people talking about Frankie’s and decided that we had to try. And we were not disappointed, the fish and chips that we ordered was a nice size portion, and so tasty. Even sat on the balcony, so had fish...and chips with a view. Would definitely recommendMore
Shame to return to Frankie’s after two years to find a big difference in what you get if takeaway rather than eating in. You only find out when you’ve driven away from the restaurant. Why ration the cheapest part of the meal - chips?! Big...gaps in the smaller boxes of fish and chips (£13), and we could hold a single portion in one hand (£3.50). Tasted good, there just wasn’t enough of it. Stingy and embarrassing.More
We were trying to find a good spot to dine on a Monday (a difficult day to find food on Shetland) and our guide to us to this great place. The seafood was fresh and we were told the owner catches fish and brings it...directly to the restaurant. Me and my family shared Mussels au "natural" – basically with just lemon juice and parsley, juicy and buttery pan-fried scallops, nicely flavored haddock fish cakes with fries and a fried mushroom, and a baked potato with corn. Everything was on point, except for the baked potato, which arrived cold and not so easy to enjoy. They were pretty busy though, so maybe the potato temperature fell by the wayside to fulfill so many orders.More
So, it's a take away chippie with a cafe. We ate in and my haddock and chips where genuinely some of the best fish and chips I have had. Fish perfectly cooked, lightly battered and not in the slightest bit greasy. Chips good. They also...serve cake, which we didn't try but looks good Advice- check out the specials board and not just the cafe menu which we noticed going out. We will go back before we leave the island at the end of our holiday and hope that the special of deep fried scallops is still on!More
Good fish and chips, only draebacks are the price (quite expensive) and the fact they are located in brae means the chip shop is quite far out, but easily the best fish nd chips in shetland.
While staying at Brae I had read the reviews about this amazing fish and chip shop and decided to have lunch there and wow was the food a delight As an Australian where we have quite good fish and chips, the food here was the...best ever by a country mile (Australian expression). Would recommend a visit here as a must do while in Shetland and with sea views and a car park and dining in options though book as it is very popular.More
