Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a lovely little coffee shop, with a warm and friendly atmosphere with staff that make you feel so welcome. Loose leaf tea with top ups and fabulous toasted banana & chocolate bread with local honey. Highly recommend a visit!

A lovely visit with delicious food. Sorry we couldn't manage Adele's fruitcake with Wenslydale cheese but the sandwiches filled us up!

The town was quite busy but we managed to get a table for two. The cafe is very pleasantly decorated and the tables are clean. The menu has plenty of selection with some different items to choose from rather than just sandwiches and jacket potatoes....There's even a selection of different types of chips! I had the Wensleydale and chutney sandwich and hubby had the mackerel pate on sourdough. We shared a bowl of plain chips. Everything was very well presented, tasty and the chips were hot. The coffee was delicious. All in all a great place to stop for lunch.More

Popped in for a quick warming bowl of soup following a long walk in the area. Staff were very welcoming and accommodating. The soup was homemade and very tasty with lovely fresh granary bread and butter. Very reasonably priced. Dog friendly. Would definitely recommend this...tea room.More

The team are very friendly and the toastie fillings use excellent local produce, The coffee is from a local roaster and you can buy a bag to take away. Also the meals are well priced. However they are a popular venue so to be sure...of getting a table eat lunch early or late.More

So pleased we decided to eat here put of the other tea rooms. Were vegan so it can be difficult to find places that offe more than jacket potatoes or vegan chilli. The retreat had a few, different options it was hard to decide. Had...the vegan wrap and it was lovely. God portion and value for money. Only downside we weren't on the area long enough to go back to try the other vegan options!More

A little gem of a tearoom with super friendly staff and excellent coffee. We only sampled the sandwiches but these were delicious - good selection of food on the menu, including some lovely homemade cakes. Great atmosphere in the tearoom which was beautifully decorated with...a 'vintage' feel. Look forward to returning next autumn.More

Very disappointed that clotted cream is not served with their cream tea - can never understand why lovely tearooms go for the cheaper less yummy option of whipped cream! We enjoyed our ciabatta’s but after asking for no chips with them were very disappointed that...management decision is to charge full price to customers even though they are providing less food. Shame as lovely tearoom with nice ambiance but won’t return because of the above.More
