Myself and my Dad spent a very pleasant hour and a half in The Retreat today. The staff were polite and attentive, large toasted tea cake was delish and the coffee was good. Reasonable prices and a lovely relaxed atmosphere, we didn't feel pressured to leave and enjoyed time to chat and catch up.

Sat outside in a delightful little courtyard at the back of the tea room. Hubby and I opted for the set price of £6 (I think or there about) for home made cream/jam scone with a tea or coffee. My scone needed to be gluten free and I have to say it was absolutely gorgeous (far better than I expected!!) and hubby's scone was good too. Friendly and efficient service. Would definitely recommend to others

We visited here for a spot of lunch and some drinks and could not have been more impressed. The safety is great as well with hand sanitising stations and the staff were all wearing visors to protect them and the customers. They have a large selection on the menu from paninis to bacon sandwiches to vegan burgers. They also have a large variety of drinks, including hot drinks, soft drinks, smoothies and milkshakes. We ordered and the food arrived promptly within about 5 minutes. The food was delicious and of a high quality. What more could you ask for? Would definitely recommend.

My husband and I have visited this lovely place for the first time and what a wonderful place to go for anyone suffering with food allergies. The owners and their team were very accommodating and helpful and made something slightly off menu for me with even some dessert choice! It was great to be able to talk to the chefs which made me feel very relaxed knowing how safe they were being with my food.Thank you again, we will definitely be back!

Firstly the ‘hit’: The coffee was very good, the fruit scone was very nice and the fruit cake was nice (a very thin slice of cheese). The service from the young lady was warm, friendly, efficient & genuine. Now the ‘miss’: The polar opposite service from the man working. Unwelcoming and very abrupt. Although we were starting to feel it was just us. As others were warmly welcomed by him, others offered 15% discount for “people we like” & “locals”. Both said easily audible.

After walking 6 or 7 miles stopped for late lunch. My friend and her dog and myself. We both opted for the mushrooms in lemon and thyme prosciutto and garlic and parmesan served on toasted sour dough, absolutely delicious. We both then had fruit scones which were fresh and again delicious. The staff were welcoming and friendly. A lovely place after a lovely walk.

Visited this lovely place at the weekend with some friends . We had a mix of afternoon teas , all of which were homemade , fresh and delicious . The Portuguese tart was to die for 😊. We had booked in advance as we were quite a large party celebrating a birthday , Rick and Adele were happy to change a couple of cakes due to an allergy and went the extra mile by adding vegan scones, they also kindly offered to put balloons up for us . The waiting staff were attentive , chatty and friendly . Will definitely be visiting again the next time we are in the area 😊

We chanced upon The Retreat Tearoom & Bistro and decided to try it. The menu looked very promising, offering larger meals or lighter bites, including several things we had never tried. We ordered a Local Wensleydale Griddled Toastie with Fruity Yorkshire Ale Chutney, a Posh Egg, Ham & Chip Butty served on a buttered bun with black garlic ketchup and a Goats Cheese, Red onion with Fig & Cinnamon Chutney Griddled Ciabatta. They were all five-star delicious, likewise our drinks which were Black Forest Hot Chocolates and a Bailey's Hot Chocolate. The service was very good - attentive and courteous - and the atmosphere of the place very pleasant, with large windows looking out onto Main Street. I'm so pleased we chose The Retreat.

Managed to get a table inside at lunch time today, there was outside seating but it was chilly. Delightful place very clean and organised, the waitress explained how they were dealing with the ‘situation’ clearly. Unlike some places where each member of staff tell you something different. The varied menu offered drinks plenty of options for all tastes. Staff were very friendly, sandwiches delicious and we didn’t feel at all rushed even though there were people waiting for seating. A very pleasant experience all round

What a little gem of a place. The staff were mingling with the customers whilst providing a very quick and efficient service. Really friendly relaxed atmosphere and beautifully decorated. My mushrooms and poached egg on toast looked like a piece of art on a plate when it came out and was delicious. Definitely will go back if I'm in the area again.

. We walked past while exploring the village. No free tables inside but we waited outside and were soon given a table. The lady thoroughly sanitised the table and we ordered the cheese scone with cream cheese and chutney and homemade fruit cake served with Wensleydale cheese. Both excellent. We actually went back the next day for lunch. Mackerel on sourdough and tuna sandwich and a portion of fries. Excellent homemade food fresh baked cakes and very friendly staff 👍🤣

Excellent afternoon tea and lovely, friendly service. Don’t be put off if they ask for payment up front when you book - it’s well worth it, and restaurateurs need all the help they can get combatting no-shows and keeping on top of their wastage. Quantities and variety on our beautifully presented tea stands were generous and impressive, and the attention to detail was much appreciated. My godson’s half size children’s tea was perfectly pitched for a ten year old - he loved it and demolished the lot!

Had a lovely afternoon tea for 12 people for a birthday celebration, the food was lovely & fresh & presented really well. The food was pre-ordered but everybody's food preference & allergies were taken care of. The staff were really friendly & attentive, nothing was too much trouble & the decor was beautiful. Will definitely return next time I'm in Grassington.

The food at Retreat is delicious. We stopped here after a walk in Grassington and had a veggie burger, cheddar, onion & chilli jam toastie and a gingerbread & cream latte. The veg burger was tastier than a beef burger and had great toppings (including a pot of black garlic sauce on the side which was fab). The toastie was also lovely and the latte was superb - it was topped with real whipping cream which was unexpected and insanely nice! Lovely staff and an incredibly clean café (we actually remarked that it was the cleanest table we’d ever seen haha). We’ll deffo be back & highly recommend!
