The food was FABULOUS. We loved everything we ate, it was very well cooked, different, refined, copious, the menu is varied, so varied that we did not know what to choose, the staff is lovely and it is very well priced: 65€ for 3 people for 2 starters, 2 mains, 3 desserts and 3 drinks. We loved it so much that we have reserved another table when we next go to Pico. Our favourite restaurant so far in the whole of the Azores.

This lovely little restaurant on the waterfront fills up quickly, and we were lucky that our hotel managed to snag us a reservation for the 7 pm seating. Not too many restaurants are open on Sunday here. I had the fish skewer, which arrived so dramatically hanging off a platform that everyone in the restaurant turned to admire it. The fish was wreck fish, and it was moist and delicious but so big I could only eat a third of it. (We should have shared, which I noticed several tables did later.) It was interspersed with two big whole shrimp which were delicious. Plus a salad snd boiled potatoes! My husband had pork tenderloin and a very good rice cake with spinach and other things in it. We each had a glass of Pico wine, just average.

Amazing main meal (fish and prawn skewer). Cooked perfectly in a simple, but delicious rich butter. Local white wines were very nice with the seafood. Tried the lemon meringue tart for dessert, which was disappointing- more of a sweet custard with no lemon flavour. Other than that, 5 stars Service was very busy, but the young waitress was fast and attentive, easily managing all the outside tables

Took my family of four here for what we thought would be a fabulous end to our trip to Pico. Sadly we were disappointed with the place. Service and food quality was below what you'd expect for a place like this. No spirits so you can't have a G&T beforehand, in fact all that's on offer is wine, one type of beer, coke or water. Nevertheless we stayed and ordered our food. One of the starters turned up almost immediately but the other three didn't come for 15 minutes. Very poor. When our mains arrived, my son's medium rare steak was well done and my wife's and my seafood platter, although it looked great, tasted very average with no real flavour. The limpets in it were so rubbery they were actually inedible. Desserts were ok but not great. We spoke to owner but he argued with us and basically accused us of just complaining to try and get some money knocked off. We definitely will not be going back. A real shame as Pico is lovely. There are , I've been told a couple of excellent restaurants nearby. Try these if you can.

We really enjoyed our night here. We made a reservations for 7pm on a Sunday. It’s one of the few restaurants open on Sunday night, so it is wise to make a reservation. They seat everyone with a 7pm reservation at the same time, so it is very busy and the waitress are doing their best to get to everyone. I would recommend giving your full order when the waitress comes to the table the first time, especially if you are in a hurry. We were in Pico on vacation and not in a rush, so we did not mind that the food took a little longer to come out. We just enjoyed a bottle of Pico wine and the Pico cheese and some octopus salad as we waited for our fish skewers to arrive, which we’re definitely worth the wait. Our server, Catarina, was so sweet and helpful. At the end, she was apologetic about the wait, but we really didn’t mind. I highly recommend this place, and if you go in with a relaxed attitude about food and service, it is a very enjoyable evening.

This place does not disappoint and you do need a reservation.I choice to come early as the sunset view is spectacular overlooking Failal and where everyone sits to take pictures. My table was great (though they have a deck and they should clear that and wash the windows for a better view. The place was full (definitely need a reservation) and half of the place is insider and half on the glass enclosed deck (try for there as the sunset is easily seen) The menu has fish and I ordered the chorizo (why not- as Im not ordering it elsewhere) and while not aflame like some it was great! the potatoes were w touch greasy though. The dinner of almond fish was unique and I loved it- crunchy and different from anywhere else. The Skewers of mixed seafood looks to be the "ten" with enough to share. Service was average, wine though was way overpriced for a glass (and it was not a generous pour) - better to get the bottle I think but it was just me! I would keep this as a must on Pico but book ahead. Family place with no tour bus!

Just finished lunch. My husband had delicious limpets in a butter and garlic saute. Bread basket had four types of bread. The fish skewer was exceptional with a local white fish, shrimp, potatoes and salad. They had a nice variety of desserts. Views are lovely view of the sea!!! The young man who waited on us was friendly and spoke English. Would highly recommend.

The food was acceptable and the server made no attempt at all to interact. Very noticeable as we have eaten at some great places on Pico with such friendly staff so this really stood out. We started with the shrimp in garlic butter which were by far the best part of the meal…delicious. My husband had the Guelly Jack fish which had far too many bones. Of course it’s a fish… but this was ridiculous. My fish Veja fish fillets with almonds were dry and flavourless. Tasted like fish fingers. We came across friends from the previous evening and asked our server to put their dinner onto our bill. She looked at us with a stunned face and said “won’t they be mad”. We tried to explain that paying for someone’s meal is usually a good thing. She finally relented but looked so out of it and was completely unhelpful all evening.

This restaurant deserves a 3 for one reason only, the goodocatio and the excellent view from the veranda. And this was the good part of our dinner, i am sad to say. I ordered the catch of the day, broiled with 1 boiled potato and three leaves of lettuce The fish was completely dry and over salted. My son had the fish skewr, which presented with some good and some bad Pieces of several different fish. We made reservations previously, were showed our table and i a few minutes received the menus and ordered. No one mentioned that service was backed up. After 20 minutes we received the selection of cheeses we had ordered. After one hour we were still waiting for the main dishes. When the food finally arrived, I decided to complain to the waiter. The young man then proceeded to call me a liar. As I explained, by now, somewhat angrily, that I had previous reservations and no one had mentioned the long wait, he persisted and then returned to apologize and offer the desert. It was a very unfortunate exchaged which ruined the dinner experience for the whole family. The reason quality/ price, was the same as most restaurants. For the priced we expected at least some good manners from the staff. Last year they we highly recommended by trip advisor and I cannot but wonder on what such rating was based. It is not worth the trip.

I feel like they just missed the mark on several occasions. Way too many bones in the fish in the Cataplana dish. I think that some effort should be made in the kitchen to debone the fish. And 1/4 of the dish was onions. The service was adequate. No attempt to interact. Wine selection was good and fair priced. Lastly, when a dish takes 30 to 45 minutes to prepare, as ours did, I think a restaurant should offer a small plate to tide you over. I could have ordered an appetizer but it would have been too much food. A few pieces of cheese, olives and a slice of bread would have been a thoughtful touch.

I wouldn't be honest if I said this was our very first choice when it came to the special dinner originally... but I am glad we ended up here as we had a really nice experience, and from the entire stay in Azores between Terceira/Pico/Faial/Sao Miguel 10+ days this place had the nicest and friendliest people on staff we have come across, and that made the experience on a day like that stand out so much more than food/venue/views one always is seeking! Not to of course take away from any other aspect of the dinner :) we didn't have a reservation and after a short wait got a really decent table, especially considering how busy this place was. The staff was very nice explaining specials and making some recommendations. Food arrived after a while, but it all made sense based on how busy they were - we enjoyed some nice Pico wine in the meantime. We were too full for a dessert so I can't speak to that, though this felt to us like a legit sea food paradise place so we didn't com here for a lava cake from the get-go :) Plenty of parking in the area, nice views of the sunset, reasonable prices - great place!

Never ever again! The kitchen was a huge disapointment - the only one on our 10 days on the Acores!! Lapas were served cold. Can happen - we claimed and the same pan was served again with just the shells being hot but the REHEAT had not reach the meat of the lapas. Main dish: One of the two catch of the day fishes was absolutely cold inside (maybe from frozen?) We claimed and send it back. The same !!! fish and NOT a new one came back onto the table, hot but dry. A REHEATED fish is an absolute NO GO! We didnt eat it asked for the bill in order to leave and then we became speechless: The manager asked us what was the problem... and explained offended they dont reheat, because that would mean they use a microwave and they don't do such a thing: They use an oven... Speechless we left...

Probably slightly more upmarket - and hence a little pricier - than most other restaurants in Madalena. However, the food.was always excellent and the service good. The 3 times I went I always managed to get a table without difficulty, but would recommend any groups larger than a couple.vook in advance to be sure of getting a table.

While on Pico Island, we made a dinner reservation at Ancoradouro for July 20th. Not many people when we arrived. Met at door by a server, and we told her we had a reservation. With an odd look on her face, she seemed to question if we really did have one. Then she found it on her iPad and took us to table in covered area outside along back wall. As we watched other servers smiling and chatting with their customers, we were hoping to get one of them. To our chagrin, she was our server. While she had a perma frown on her face, the rest of staff seemed quite pleasant. Two tables on either side of us got their food well before us even though we ordered first. I very rarely write a negative review about a restaurant, so please keep this in context. The food was okay at best (but oversalted even by Portuguese standards). While I did not get the server’s name, she’ll be easy to spot in comparison to the others if you go there simply by the look on her face and her demeanor. No offense to ownership, but you can do better.

The location is surely beautiful, but the food I had did not stood out. I had an octopus which was certainly good, but a little too oily. The service is very warm, but I feel like we waited too long for certain dishes. The prices are a little higher than average - but the beautiful location deserves that.
