I have visited Pico Island several times over the years and have tried restaurants in every part of the Island. There is nothing that quite matches this one. First off, the restaurant workers are so friendly that each time I visited I felt as if I was family. The food at this restaurant had a great variety and was delivered fast. My favourite things to order are the salada de polvo (octopus salad) and the morcella (blood sausage). Yes, there may be restaurants on the water, but I can guarantee you none of those has a warm atmosphere or delicious foods that compares to this restaurant.

very nice - we went there way too early, so we were the only guests for a while. even when more and more guests came the waitress took her time to explain the menu, the wines, all the possibilites. the food was delicious, nicely prepared - even the bread was special. we will definitely be back !

Ate here a number of times (both lunch and dinner) during a c. 10 day trip to Pico. Service was always very friendly, the food good and the prices pretty reasonable (inc. some quite decent wine by the glass). More relaxed/casual than formal as restaurants go and that suited me just fine. Would happily recommend. N.b. Would strongly suggest booking a day or so in advance to be sure you get a table - particularly in high season it can get quite busy.

This family owned and operated Tesca serves traditional Portuguese food that you won't find anywhere else in Portugal. I have been living in Lisboa for the past 30 months, and I tried hundreds of restaurants, but nothing can get even close to the deliciousness and the quality of the food and the service. The couples who owned the restaurant work in the kitchen, and their beautiful and friendly daughter waiters around. We were on the island for 4 days, and we ate every single night there. We tried most of the dishes, and we weren't disappointed not even once. You can tell that the food is made with so much love and passion, and you can literally close your eyes, put your fingure anywhere on the menu and order. You definitely need to book your table in advance as they were sold out almost every night.

This was one of our top two meals on Pico. Our group of four adults had a carafe of house white wine, the grilled fish of the day (bluemouth rockfish), local steak with peppercorn sauce, regional steak (in a white wine and garlic sauce, topped with red pepper and a fried egg), and grilled squid in a garlic butter sauce made with fish stock. For dessert, we had “Portuguese sawdust,” which turned out to be alternating layers of whipped cream and crushed shortbread cookies. We enjoyed the neighborhood restaurant ambiance, service, and all the food.

Ate here several times while on Pico, for both lunch and dinner. Excellent food and very friendly service (and fast, but never rushed). Food Prices middle of the range for Madalena (and also has some decent wine by the glass at very reasonable prices - and I like my wine!). Highly recommended, but strongly advise booking a table (even if only the day before), even if you are just a couple/solo diner, to avoid having to wait a while if you are to get a seat or even be turned away as the restaurant is too full.

Came for dinner on a recent stop on Pico having seen how busy it was at lunch. Service was fantastic and it was a really nice touch being able to select the red wine from the ‘cellar’. Starters were excellent for both of us and we happily shared in true tapas style. The steak was beautifully cooked and the portion size was far beyond that compared to a typical English pub. My partner ordered the Tuna which was amazing but was unfortunately cold, this was quickly and efficiently rectified and again, the portion size meant desserts were not possible. Would definitely recommend and to secure a table a reservation is required due to the restaurant’s popularity.

A super cozy restaurant with quick and friendly staff - reservations needed though. The food was excellent, and the octopus salad in particular is recommendable. In addition to this, they had an all-azorean wine card with some lovely local wines on it, and it was very affordible.

Make your reservation here!! We ate here twice and I will miss their fava beans! Friendly staff and you are welcomed like family. The menu has great selection and our favourite dishes were the tuna bites, octopus salad, fava beans (my husband thought he hated fava beans when we arrived on Pico), sausage baked with blackberry jam…I could go on and on but just book a table and you won’t be disappointed. Beware the sliding glass door. Everyone tries to push it and you have to SLIDE it. Replace the door is my only recommendation!

Hands down the best Restaurant we have been to on our trip to the azores. While some others come close in either food, service or ambiente, none managed to have all 3 things as good as here. First: book a Table at least one day in advance or try your luck an hour or 1 1/2 after they opened;) We have been there three times at the evening during our stay on Pico, went through 3/4 of the menu and ejoyed every bit we got! If you do not know what to pick, ask them for a recommendation! And try the fish of the day and the housewine and the tuna bites and the fried squid... and... jeah.. everything you can fit into your stomach;) And I want to point out the excellent, friendly, kind, competent, lovely service. We felt very welcome and enjoyed having the privilege being guest of those lovely people! Thank you so much, Chris and Dani!

Had a really lovely dinner here, I don't know what the complaints are about. The fava beans were delicious, and I had a very local fish for my main. There seem to be some off-menu items that you have to be in the know about or order ahead (ladies next to us were enjoying a crab tower). Would definitely come back!

All the staff was extremely friendly and offered us a warm welcome. We had the buffet at lunch, and it was incredibly flavorful with a great diversity of options including local specialties. We loved discovering and trying a little bit of everything, especially the fish and seafood. They also had tasty and healthy sides of salads, and great local cheeses. It is the single best restaurant in the area, and it lives up to its reputation. For the quality of the food, it was definitely very affordable! We woudl go back without hesitation. If you like to try and taste many different things, the lunch buffet is the perfect choice. The restaurant's set up is small, clean and pretty. No reservation was required for the lunch, but don't forget to make a reservation for dinner. Note : Lots of options for a vegetarian-diet, but barely anything for a vegan-diet.

We had dinner here twice because the food was so good. The fresh fish, simply grilled, was the best we've ever had! Service was good, prices were reasonable. Short walk from our hotel. Highly recommend!

We had made table reservations a day before, but when we arrived there was no record of it. Although the manager got us a table I felt he acted as if he was doing us a favour. Which is strange, it is not our fault. the waitress was excellent, the choice of food too. Nice shellfish for starters, but the steak I ordered for mains, was a bit tough. It was too much work to chew. A pity, because desert was good like the wine.

This def felt like a locals dinner hang out with friends n family. We shared many tapas here for dinner. At lunch there seems to be a buffer, but dinner it changes to tapas. Wide variety of flavors but you can still get large entrees. We had “barnacles” for the first time, weir little guys u had to hook out of their hole. Service was fine, no issues. Def need reservations.
