We called in here when in the area and was pleasantly surprised with this place. A warm welcome and all Covid precautions taken made us feel good from the start. We were able to enjoy Fish & Chips and a pint that was better quality and value than most pubs offer. Would recommend when in the area

Arrival evening for hols, was toying with a pint at the pub then something from the chippy. Ended up with pints and fantastic pub fish and chips instead. There's a reduced menu for the time being, but the fish and chips was delicious: crispy thin chips (not McDonalds' thin, but not wedges) and crusty battered fish - all served in a cardboard box with wooden cutlery. The menu is 'classic' pub food which can be served in disposable containers, so no moules mariniere for now. The outside eating area was partially covered but, as it started to rain, all the umbrellas were put up and the whole area was pretty much protected. Tables and seating were sprayed down and then dried as soon as their previous occupants left and, if the member of staff seating the next customers hadn't seen the tables wiped, they did it again. Bookings are not accepted at present as they've had a lot people book and then not turn up, so it's a case of rock-up and take your chances. Turnaround of orders was very fast, so even if it looks busy on initial arrival, give it 15 mins and go back. I slightly missed the mussels options from last year, but only until the F&C arrived I've added a copy of their current menu as a pic

We were surprised by the recent poor reviews. Clearly the team have listened as yesterday we had proper crockery and cutlery. We thought the vegan and veggie options looked interesting and thoughtful despite being omnivores ourselves and were tempted. One day we will look back amazed that staff in these times were forced to make customers put on a mask before crossing from the pavement to the pub courtyard to walk a few yards before sitting down and taking it off again. With 30miles of atmosphere above your head and a sea breeze blowing. But the staff were cheerful, funny and efficient and handled my grumpiness adroitly. They also helped a young family when a child was “unwell” which was good to see (the help, not the being unwell - he finished his lunch alright). The home made scotch egg was soft inside, crisp outside and coated in warm, herby sausage meat. It came with a nice tub of piccalilli. The open crab sandwich (clearly designated in the menu) was good and the burger was a Platonic ideal of a beef burger. The skin on chips were nice dipped into the left over piccalilli (see above) and there was a little dish of red cabbage coleslaw which I could have eaten more of. The Tribute and Proper Job were well kept and served at the right temperatures. (I hope that St Austell will be supplying a full range of real ales after the 17th because Hicks etc don’t seem to be available anywhere just now.) All in all a very pleasant lunch which set us up for the long walk back to Mousehole.

Visited here today. Waited outside and followed Covid19 rules. We asked the nice young lady who approached us if it was possible to have a table inside. It was a windy day and both of my kids were fed up of it and wanted to get out of it for a while. Our intention was to have a few drinks only as we had had a light lunch on St Michael's Mount. At no point we're we asked if we were eating or just drinking. We were led to a table for four and shortly after a "gentleman" appeared who enquired if we wanted drinks, we said yes but also could we have a portion of chips with them. The gentleman (a bald headed fellow wearing specs, sorry as I didn't get his name) grumbled something about us just ordering chips. We did respond with the fact that no one had made it clear that indoors was only for people eating. Not just drinking. To which the gentleman responded, in a very rude attitude, "I'm not going to argue with you". My response was "there is nothing to argue over as you should make it clear to potential customers before the enter" in return I was greeted with more dismissive, rude comments. I will certainly be warning all of my friends and colleagues who visit the area frequently to avoid this place like the plague. You would think that during such a tough economic climate any business would be welcome, I guess not at this place. For all the gentleman knew we were going to order a couple of bottles of champagne, which would be more than the cost of most people's meals who were currently sitting inside. Never mind. This "business" has now probably lost the custom of an additional 30-40 people because of how they treated us.

Lived in Cornwall for 26 years and Marazion for part of that time. Thought I would treat my Mum to lunch. Went to sit on one outdoor table and it was that wobbly that we wouldn't have been able to place a drink on the table. So we moved to a bench. We ordered squid, homemade scotch egg and tea. Im not one for complaining, but I was left really disappointed as our teas came out in mugs and washable teapots etc as expected... yet our lunches, which I paid good money for, came out in cardboard boxes with wooden cutlery which repeatedly kept breaking. I understand with COVID, however, if you are serving drinks in axtual cups then please serve lunches with actual plates and cutlery. The squid was vile! Rubbery and although it states all food is homemade and fresh... being a former chef I know a frozen squid ring when I see and eat one. I had to leave my food as the salad tasted of dirty fishy water. The whole experience wasn't pleasant. The outside seeting area could be improved with flowers or anything atleast. I wont be coming back

…felt sorry for the staff who have to ask you to pay for the meal in advance “because they have had one or two people leave without paying”. Unfortunately this isn’t mentioned when taking orders, another member of the team turned up a few minutes later asking for us to pay the bill. She was very polite and loyal to her employer. It was frustrating that this came after being told that cream teas can only be ordered after 3pm and not any earlier in the afternoon (?) Apparently if there is a problem with the food you can negotiate afterwards but the perception that most customers can’t be trusted and should not confuse lunch with afternoon tea makes one wonder how considerate the management would be to any complaints. The food was excellent, but £20 per person when all we wanted was a sandwich and a pint (or a cream tea) is not the best lunchtime option in the area.

We visited here on our first night in Marazion. We sat at one of the wonky benches outside. The menu isn't great. Obviously i wasn't expecting a full sized menu given the covid situation etc, but the options were very limited and somewhat random. The mains were fish and chips, vegan fish and chips, chicken gyro or veggie gyro, with burgers and sandwiches thrown in. We ordered a toasted crab sandwich and chicken gyro with sides of sweet potato fries and onion rings. Before you knew it the waitress had pounced with the card machine, which took me by surprise as we had yet to receive our food and drink, but I soon came to realise this is the new norm at the minute. The food itself was ok but way, way overpriced for what you got. The toasted crab sandwich was £11.50 and they couldn't even stretch to 2 slices of bread. It was just one slice of bread with more rocket than anything else. Pretty disappointing really. The sides were £4 each and were the best part of the meal. My partner said the battered pickled onion rings with parmesan were banging! There was no sign of any dessert offerings and we left feeling pretty underwhelmed.

In these difficult times due to Covid 19, the Kings Arms is putting in place all the necessary precautions to stop the spread of the virus. We only went for a drink and cannot comment on the food. The main issue appeared to be the lack of staff. One rushed and overworked man was doing his best to clean tables, organise seating, take orders and provide table service. The consequence of this was people are left waiting for considerable times at various stages of the process, orders are taken in a haphazard way. We arrived and were seated fairly quickly but noticed other guests were continually served before us. We waited for what seemed an age to have our order taken. I can only assume this due to the pressure the employee was under to get food and drinks out.

We checked reviews of Mariazion eateries and the kings arms faired quite well overall. It was probably the worst experience of eating out I can remember. For a Friday evening all that was on offer was a very limited takeaway menu. No starters and main courses gave the impression of coming out of a freezer and being dropped in a deep fat fryer for the required amount of time. It was not a good restaurant experience as other reviewers had indicated. It is clearly an establishment doing the absolute minimum and blaming the pandemic. On a positive note, the staff were pleasant.

Stopped by for a quick drink and bite to eat. Front of house service was appalling, chips were old and burnt, obviously been sitting in bottom of fryer for a while. Cheese burger was really nice tho. Staff really need some training. Shame as lovely location.

Went here for a meal last night. Staff friendly and attentive. Decor nice. Nothing really wrong with the food, just average pub grub. My wife chose steak as an alternative to her original choice of cod, because they couldn't serve it without batter. She has an allergy, enjoys fish and other outlets have accommodated her request. Menu price for steak £22.50, Bill price £23.50. My scampi was dearer by £1 too for some reason. Noticed when I looked at the bill, later. The owner may reply that their prices are similar to other outlets in Marazion, but the quality we have experienced elsewhere is in my opinion superior. I Wouldn't dissuade people from going , but we wont be returning.

Definitely would recommend this pub for food and drinks, however make sure you book in advance as they were turning many people away who did not book a table. We had a lovely table, not many people around us so it was nice and relaxing. We had a beautiful meal after visiting at michaels mount. I had a seafood linguini which was Devine, no complaints there. My boyfriend said his burger was nice, which came with home cooked chips that were delicious. Would definitely return.

Booked an evening here for dinner whilst on a short break. One member of staff was friendly, cheerful and welcoming. Two further members of staff were young, uninterested, robotic and to be honest, next to useless. Menu was limited and to the extent, if their was an alternative venue to eat at we may have moved on. We were continually bothered by people not inside the pub, coming in and out to use the ladies! On the subject of toilets, the gents was a filthy little room, out side, up an alley and scarily next to the open door of the kitchen where young kitchen workers were hanging out having a smoke. Service was terrible, having to ask several times for another drink and staff trying to take your plate when you were still eating. The bar maid cleared a table opposite us in preparation for the next customer and sprayed a quarter of it and wiped an eighth of it! Terrible hygiene in the current CoVID situation. A bar man then came out to clean another table and did the same poor job! Clearly lazy or poorly trained! Steer clear, it’s just a pub with poor hygiene and young uninterested staff!

We’ve eaten here dozens of times over the years, and overall the standard of food here has been pretty good. However, we were disappointed on our visit this evening. There was nothing wrong with the service or the drinks, but the food was well below par. My wife had the fish, chips and peas, which she said was over cooked. She also said that the oil the fish was cooked in was old and needed changing. I had the burger and skin on chips, which was very average. The presentation of both meals was poor. We won’t return again soon, but we will give it another chance next year maybe.

We spent a few nights in Marazion last week and tried to eat at this pub having read the great reviews, but was unsuccessful. The town was very busy. However, we did manage on one occasion to at least get a drink. Having listened to the challenges faced and sympathised with the hospitality industry over the last 18-months I was amazed that firstly we were rejected when we asked if we could have one of the empty tables inside because outside was full, but was told no, they weren't serving inside? All those empty tables, queues of people lining up to eat and drink and spend their money and a pub turning them away!!! Secondly, we were able to secure a table at 8.50pm on one evening and sat down to order a drink but to no avail, no-one came to serve us and after 10-minutes we enquired at the door only to be told they had stopped serving. At 9pm!!!! And clearly, they weren't going to come out and advise of this when we sat down. We tried a final time when spotting an empty table as we were walking past, and did manage to order a drink however, we were treated like an inconvenience. Hospitality not at its greatest.
