Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Booked a table for 1:30 and we’re sat at that time. Ordered a burrata starter and a roast and a kids burger aswell. The burrata arrived after 30 minutes which I finished in 5 and then we were left waiting for a further hour with...3 other tables that were sat 30 minutes after us receiving their food. The server was the only gem in my opinion, didn’t charge us and was a nice bloke but left hungry after not getting our food and had to find somewhere else. Bit of a shame as it’s a really nice looking venue.More

We decided to come last minute on a Saturday, booked a table online in the heated marquee and it was great! Service was fantastic, food was really tasty and marquee was nice and warm. We had the tempura cauliflower to start and it was delicious!...Then 2 special mains of beef and ale pie and skate wing, both really good. Would definitely return if ever in the area again!More

Lovely venue unfortunately the meal turned into a shambles we were a party of three placed order with waitresses at table only two out of three food orders put through to kitchen of which my beef burger arrived cold the smoked chicken caesar salad was...pretty bland but when we asked about the third dish a seafood chowder which we were then told gad not been pleased with the rest of the order arrived within two minutes so microwaved rather than cooked to order as a local resident rather than passing tourist defiantly known they could do betterMore

The Cott Inn never disappoints. We often take friends and family to the Cott as the food is amazing and the service is excellent. It's a beautiful old pub with lots of indoor and outdoor seating areas. The Sunday roast is the best...apart from my...own homecooked roast...and it's a real treat to go there. The parking can be a bit tricky, but that just goes to show how popular they are.More

Absolutely stunning place with great outside area too. Went with friends and all of us enjoyed our meals, they were delicious!! Coffee and cocktails were great too. Look forward to visiting again. Only one little moan, I know you are very busy but a little...check on the ladies loo would be appreciated. There was a lot of loo paper on the floor and a little smelly. 👍More

We read about this last weekend and booked a lunch: it’s an hour away but it looked worth it. We were met by friendly staff and shown to our table in the marquee. It was a bit cold so we got the heater turned on....We ordered drinks which came quickly and a starter which also appeared within ten minutes - prawn cocktail, which tasted as expected, and a good portion. There were some unidentifiable garnishes on the plate: we asked the manager and the waitress and they had no idea. Eventually the message came back from the kitchen it was a new addition. We would have eaten it if they had told us what it was! Anyway: the gripe. We saw tables arrive after us get their starters and mains and even desserts whilst we waited for our mains. We hadn’t ordered anything unusual or asked for any changes. We waited 95 minutes for our mains, having asked 3 different people where they were. We were hungry so we waited. We were told the kitchen was busy when we left but no one ever came and told us this at any point! The food tasted good! Disappointing to wait so long We didn’t stay for dessert or coffeeMore

Went here for a celebration dinner and, although very busy, was very impressed with the service and quality of food. The atmosphere was fantastic, the service promptly given with a smile and the choice and quality of the food really great - the portions were...also more than ample (three of our party couldn't finish it all. Thoroughly recommendedMore

We came as a family for my dad's 60th birthday, 7 adults and 3 dogs. Absolutely wonderful service and Sunday roast - so good in fact I'd go so far as to say it's the best Sunday roast I've ever had from a restaurant, and...I've been to many 😂 I always love a roast but this one was particularly special, the cauliflower cheese was a highlight, and the lovely slow roasted 'jammy' shallots with the red cabbage. I had the mixed roast and the meats were perfectly cooked. Thank you so much for treating my dad to an Old Fashioned too to mark his birthday, he had a lovely time.More

Lunch with visiting friends. On a rain soaked day, The Cott was warm and welcoming. Delicious menus to choose from. Brixham crab cake, steak, lamb and sea bream were all enjoyed with good beers and wines by the glass. Staff are friendly and efficient and...didn't rush us so our lunch was relaxed and convivial. Perfect.More

From Start to Finish our Celebratory 70th Birthday Weekend was such a wonderful experience. The Cott catered for bespoke requests without hesitation, their accommodating attitude together with the most excellent customer service from their staff, guaranteed that the whole weekend, a surprise for a former...military man, remained just that. 20 former military and police attended together with family members most having travelled long distances. We booked accommodation for 8 of us too. The evening meal was a fish'n'chip supper, every meal came out at the same time, hot and absolutely delicious. All welcome drinks were served exactly on time on arrival. All, Just everything was fabulous for such a real auspicious occasion that only close friends, colleagues and family will understand. The rooms were just lovely, comfortable and functional, the breakfasts amazing and the Sunday roasts delicious.....but the welcome from Mark, Vicky, Jack and Alfie, together with the rest of their staff was beyond expectations.More

Not the relaxing evening meal expected - felt under pressure to vacant table almost from point of arrival despite table booking suggesting we had it for two hours! Throughout our meal the atmosphere was far from calm, Food was well below average - although served...very quickly after order was eventually taken, it arrived lukewarm with overcooked vegetables that you couldn’t really distinguish what they were, mushy roast potatoes and soggy Yorkshires. Sadly pudding was also tasteless and failed to meet its description. All in all, very disappointing, very overpriced for what it was - not a place that I could recommend or that I’d choose to return to.More

Another perfect dinner at the Cott. The food was spot on. It's like fine dinning on steroids! They are so well organised and it's incredible how they turn out such high quality food and service on this scale. The Cott has a wonderful old pub...feel and character, can't wait for next time.More

Sunday roast disappointing to be honest. We went for mixed meats at £24 and its not good value. The meat must be cut on a slicer as its so thin you can hardly taste it there roast potatoes that were not good not crispy but...had a leather skin. The Red cabbage just taste of spices, Cauliflowe /Calabrese cheese not good. The chestnut stuffing how every was excellent so was the small amount of cream mint sauce. Service was very good little slow with the drinks. The cool plates are large and go cold very quickly. So will I go back for Sunday roast again ? Sorry No there are other Pub doing better Roasts at a lower price,More
