The service and the ambiance was really good. The front of house people were brilliant. Big up to the big, old posh guy! Scallops of the specials board were cooked to absolute perfection, succulent and tender. The coq au cidre was recommended to me by...the big posh guy and it was heaven. The lovely layered dauphinoise potatoes were very good. The chicken succulent and not dry. And the squash (?) Puree was heaven. Had a much better experience here than at the last Michelin starred restaurant my wife and I visited.More
We arrived with no booking and got shown to a cosy spot in the garden by Jack, he was a star ! Made us feel very welcome and gave us some good recommendations. Excellent food and great service. Fantastic!!11!
Even when super busy, the service was excellent and the food superb - a finely oiled machine and a top night out
top tip - walk on the footpaths aaround Copland Meadows from Totnes, it's a lovely way to travel
We had booked for 7.15pm but had a warm welcome at 7.05pm and we sat in the lovely garden. From the on it went downhill, with the waitress telling us we had to order quickly as the kitchen was closing, even though there were still...people arriving for tables. We jokingly asked if we would need to order dessert at the same time, but she grumbled back that we could order those once our starters arrived .. not much good. The food was fantastic which makes it all the more shame that the service was terrible. Trying to order another drink took ages, and the dessert wine we ordered never arrived, but was on the bill. There was another grumble when we asked for it to be removed. No goodbyes or thank yous as we left. I wouldn't return there and would advise anyone else to avoid it.More
Great service, lovely feel, superb outside area and delicious food. Our Sunday roasts were really tasty, prepared with love and fresh ingredients. Tasty local cider, great selection of drafts and very smooth red wine.
Did not stay overnight, just wanted to review the pub.
From London visiting family and came for dinner on Friday night. A bit tricky to get a table as obviously a popular place.
Very friendly welcome, lovely atmosphere, fabulous food. Really great evening. Korean Burger excellent! We’ll be back.
ONLY GAVE IT A ONE DOT BECAUSE I COULDNT LEAVE A ZERO Re visited the Cott inn today ,found the staff pushy for us to have drinks ,we had drinks in our glasses and they still came and asked us if we wanted more ,mains...came with a small amount of vegetables for 5 people ,to be honest the dishes were small and the colliflower/broccoli cheese would have done 1 person not 5 ,sticky toffee pudding didn't come with custard (we did say if no custard it was not wanted) a kitchen person then came out with 2 sticky toffee puddings we felt so pressured into having one it was embarrassing to say no that we didn't want one ,so we took the one with icecream .last time we visit. felt it was vastly over priced for what looked like thin pre sliced meat and a small amount of veg they even charged 50p for a yorkshire pudding felt ripped off definatly not going back and we visit Devon aprox every 6 weeks, plenty more places to eat we are sure to find a good oneMore
We had seven in our party, most of us opted for three courses and every meal was excellent.
Standouts for us would be the Crevettes in Chilli and Anchovy sauce starter and the Pan Fried Sea Bream was a really well thought out main. The...chocolate ganache was enjoyed by all (including those who declined to order their own)
Refreshing in current times to see a really well staffed restaurant with happy, polite and attentive staff.More
Ok, so its been there for 700 years, but we just found it. And it's terrific. A mix of carnivores, pescatarians, and veggies all had great meals in friendly environment. It's a bit of a shlep from where I live, but I'll be going to...Dartington or Totnes just to eat here.More
