Oliver's Fish & Chips is a long standing business which has operated in the Redcar area for over 30 years, formerly known as Russell's Fish & Chips. The current owners, Michael & Helen Roberts, purchased in the business in 2011 and decided to rename the business Oliver's after their only son.Oliver's Fish & Chips has both Takeaway & Restaurant areas and operates Monday through to Sunday, during the hours of 10am-8pm.

First time visit Staff were really lovely, I couldn’t have asked for better. My husband said the fish was 10/10 and the portions were a good size for a reasonable price and the drinks were branded which makes a difference to me. We will definitely be back Thank you for a lovely meal

Fish and Chips Served with a Huge Smile and Change in Our Pocket when The Bill was Paid .

Prices are just Brilliant and we came to meet up with friends and The Service was so Lovely and The Staff will have a Banter with you as you get served. We got Change from our Bill and this is were we really do see that Olivers Fish and Chip Restaurant really is taking into account the Cost of Living But That people Still want Fish and Chips hence why they have kept their prices to what people can afford. Lovely Mushy Pea's by the way. This Restaurant is well worth a Visit when your in The Lovely Town Of Redcar. Chips were of 100% Quality Standard and cooked to perfection. Well done to the Whole Team.

Great fish and chips in a friendly restaurant

When visiting Redcar today, there was a few options for fish and chips. But looking at reviews this place seemed the best for a sit down experience! Well, I’m glad we chose this establishment for our lunch. The restaurant was very clean and had lovely decor and staff were immediately friendly and welcoming. We had two small cod and chips, which were still generous. Curry sauce tasty, fish = fresh and was not greasy and light. Kids meal was good value and staff ensured the food was cooled down for the toddler in our group! Which we appreciated! Will visit again on our next visit to Redcar beach.

Oliver’s is tops for fish and chips in Redcar

Oliver’s is a gem for fish and chips enthusiasts visiting Redcar, whether for takeaway or dine-in. Its friendly service and pristine cleanliness elevate the dining experience with its cozy seaside ambiance. Reasonable prices are complemented by prompt service, making this a perfect spot just off the promenade to unwind while relishing quality food and drinks. The generous portions of fish and chips were soft and sumptuous with a light and crispy batter. Oliver’s is highly recommended for a delightful meal and relaxation.

Waited in the queue for over 30 minutes, when we finally got to the front of the queue the young girl serving us was very abrupt and missed things off our order, when our number was called our food in the box was not what we ordered, I asked and paid for curry which was not in the box, I simply said I paid for curry and the male sever said they forgot to cook more curry although the man infront of me had received curry on his order, I asked how long it would take to make more curry and another female shouted ‘it will take ages, it’s not even cooking yet’ no apology or anything, surely if your customers have ordered something you would make sure it was available? they also forgot to make us the 2 ice blasts we had paid for, so after waiting over 30 minutes in the queue we didn’t get the food we asked and paid for.. plus once we had walked to a bench to eat the food i found several black short hairs mixed in with my chips which I was not impressed by, we will not be returning! Staff seemed lazy and not had a rush in them!

So helpful - food absolutely delicious fish and chips - yes a treat but Worth it !

Popped in today for fish & chips x 2 - Ordered 2 large fish - I asked if I could have the fish separate, member of staff popped my two large fish in boxes - chips in boxes too - she could see I was using crutches - she popped my food into my larger carrier bag then into my “ cool bag “ Absolutely delicious fish and chips - I don’t drive I’m a bus user . Popped my fish ( had only half it was beautiful) into the airfryer for a couple of minutes - same with my chips - Bit long winded I know but Honestly that member of staff was so helpful . It’s the little things in life that really make a difference - well done 👍

Asked for small fish & chips he asked if I prefer the small fish & chips in a bigger box I said yes ok only to realise later he was giving me a regular potion without me agreeing not knowing what prices were at the time and no pot of peas ect was offered as I was intitled to with my small fish & chips so feel like I've been scammed to get more money from me. Well thats Redcar for you! shame as he was very friendly just need to tell customers there will be two pound more charge and no side.

Hi, I think there has been some miscommunication upon you ordering your food, we offer a 'Lite Bite' meal which is a set meal with a small cod and chips, which comes with a side order of peas/ curry or gravy. If you have requested a regular sized cod and a small chips, your food would of placed in a bigger box. Our apologies you have felt you have been scammed but I think it has been more a situation of miscommunication, we will speak to our staff internally and ensure this does not happen again. Nice fish and chips. Shame about the sauce

Called for cod and chips which I had done previously. I asked for tartar sauce and then when the waitress came back I asked for tomato sauce. She asked if I wanted one or two so I assumed she meant sachets. I replied two. Lovely food no issues but when I paid bill I was charged 30p for tartar and 60p for tomato! It doesn't seem to be mentioned on the menu and the waitress didn't say anything. Left feeling I was being ripped off. Should be explained with every order.

Check prices don’t assume sauces are free.

Queued for over half an hour. Customers inside with finished meals, appeared to be killing time inside, even though the queue outside would be visible, to them. Fish and chips were nice enough. Especially the fish. However, I would advise anyone to check prices of extras’, as in tartare sauce and sweetener and don’t assume they are free.

Apologies for the delay in you entering our Restaurant it has been extremely busy of late, however as you can imagine we can not usher people from their tables they have a right to relax after their meal - as much as you would not like it if we asked you to leave after you finished your meal. We appreciate your feedback regarding the food and so pleased you enjoyed your visit, however in relation to sauce these are not free as we do not get the sauces supplied to us for free therefore we need to supply them to you at a small charge of 30p, if you ask for a large pot it is 60p... again not something that is hugely expense. Also, we do not charge for sweetners or sugars or salt or vinegar, or even scraps ( i have heard recently a local Takeaway is chagring a £1 for a bag of scraps = could you imagine). We do hope you visit us again next time you are in Redcar and if you are unsure of any costs the crew would be more than happy to assist you with your enquiry. Many thanks!

Great fish and chips

We popped in here on a visit to Redcar Beach We had fish and chips mushy peas and our grandson had a sausage The food was absolutely delicious and the fish was very fresh The staff were very nice and we took our food away and sat on the seafront and ate it up and there was not a crumb left There was a bit of a queue, but this did not detract from the enjoyment and we very much look forward to our next exercises

Average, overpriced, dirty toilet and hidden charges.

Standard seaside fish and chips. Curry sauce was very runny and lacked flavour. At £17.40 for a large haddock, chips and curry sauce it is over priced. We were offered additional sauces and when the bill arrived it turns out we were charged 30p each for the tiniest of tubs of tomato ketchup and tartar. I requested tartar and the amount lasted for about 3 mouthfuls. Couldn't see the 30p charge on the menu. Toilet was very unpleasant, soiled but through no fault of the previous user, there was no toilet brush but also no visible cleaning schedule so not sure how often they get checked. All in all, I'd potentially get a takeaway but it's nothing to shout home about with hidden charges and overpriced average food with dirty toilet facilities.

Apologies you felt your overall experience visiting our restaurant was not to your expectations, in response to the issues you have raised I can confirm that our prices reflect the overall costing for supplying you a sit down experience with waitress/ waiter service. The curry has taste but our apologies you felt it was runny on this occasion. The toilets are checked throughout each shift and the cleaning schedule is placed in the staff unit and not visible to customers. If for some reason the second person previous to yourself (and the customer prior to you) had soiled the toilet and it was like this in between toilet checks, we apologies for this however this is just based on timings etc. The sauces are charged at a small charge as you can imagine the sauces are not supplied to us for free and are therefore not supplied to our customers for free. We thank you for your feedback!

Consistently outstanding

We normally call in on our way home from the North Yorkshire Coast or Moors, but today it was a bespoke visit from our hone near Durham. The cod and chips are to die for, the fish can't be bettered anywhere and the chips are ace. Mushy peas spot on. Staff are lovely. We shall be back before too long.

Decent food at a decent price.

Four adults went here on a Sunday because it had good reviews. We had to queue at the door to be let in which took about 10 minutes. You can choose to sit downstairs or go upstairs. We ate at a table downstairs right next to the serving counter. The service was very good and we all ordered the standard cod and chip special. This comes with bread and butter and a cup of tea. The tea was freshly brewed in a tea pot and was excellent. The meal took about 15 mins to be served and apart from runny mushy peas was very nice. The cod was really good and the chips not bad either. I also had a pint of their lager which was one I’d not tried before but was very palatable. The bill came to £60 which was reasonable and overall this was an enjoyable eating experience.

OUR FAVOURITE and WHY

My wife and I went to Oliver's yesterday just before 2, and were welcomed, as always into the cosy, bright ultra clean restaurant. We ordered the cod and chips, tea, bread and butter meals, along with a portion of mushy peas. Quick service from a smiling, attentive and cheerful young lady, asked for lightly battered. It came, nicely plated, and was just perfect. The table was cleared promptly when we'd finished. Great value at £27.00. We've been many times, busy or quieter, the service and quality is always spot on. Of all the many fish and chip establishments we've been to, some excellent, others not so, Oliver's is our favourite.

Really lovely and friendly service today, on a very busy day in Redcar. Had to queue outside as they were so busy but we were kept informed and given a table quickly on the ground floor as we had our 10 month old granddaughter with us. Sarah looked after us, talked and laughed with the baby, took the pram so it was out of the way and was just really kind and helpful. The food is really well cooked traditional fish & chips and I couldn’t pick fault with anything. My granddaughter was brought cute child sized cutlery, even though we didn’t order for her (she ate from our plates). Just good service, great food and fabulous staff (who were coping brilliantly with the mass of customers). Would recommend.
