Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Food was good but it was expensive, 2 large Coke Zeros where served in the standard 330ml tins and where £5.80 which is whopping £2.80 per tin. We will use the takeaway from now on as the cost for sitting in is just to expensive.

This is such an interesting place. It looks like a chipper from the outside but it has a beautiful seating area at the back. It feels like being in a high end restaurant. The food has to be the best chipper food imaginable. It is...not greasy at all and there are wonderful options. The milkshakes are also amazing. Can't wait to go back for the gelato!More

We went here as an extended family of 5 as it was a favourite place from my dad. The food was average and what was more disappointing was the £75+ bill for 5 people which included 2 from our party having only cheesy chips. What...made it worse is when we were told the coke machines were not working and that they only had bottles as an option, we were happy with this as a replacement until we were faced with the bill of £4 per bottle, I asked why these where this price as the bottles were on the take away menu at £2 and I was told it was a service charge (£2 service charge for carrying a bottle to a table is disgusting). Lovely place however this is shocking and we won’t go back.More

Genoa has always been our location for dinner. From the last visit we were disappointed from the size of the fish we got served. Portion sizes are changed and not accurate to the price we paid. We will think twice before we visit again.

Rude staff give out number tell you to wait till your number is called. Called my number out went to the counter was asked rudely by a member staff what I wanted. Stood back waited my number was called again then went to counter was...told it would be another two minutes complained about them excessively calling out numbers. They continued to be rude and didn't apologise or take my feedback. you give an order number you call them when the order is done. it's not a hard concept to grasp. They ended up throwing my money back at me luckily enough got a much cheaper and much nicer meal at fair tucks. Forced a small chip van out of the town to because there food was nicer and much cheaper and the customer were going to them rather than put up with there bad manners.More

A cafe with toilet facilities and wont let you use them. Im a 55 year man who requires toilet facilities every so often. I'm not a young teenage hooligan but i felt i was treated as such on a Saturday after noon when i entered...this premises for a bite of food after a very enjoyable day listening to some blues music. The council toilets were closed so that wasnt available. So dissapointed at the attitude of an older member of staff who should have known better. I sent a personal email to give them a chance to respond before i started giving reviews ( No Answer ) . Hence the bad review. Oh by the way thanks for not puuting my burger into the bag which i paid for. Really crap service.More

i was at the genoa warrenpoint 15/2/2021 put an order in for two small chips it took them 20 minutes + to hand the chips to me the restaurant was not busy , when i got home i rang them ask for the manager i...spoke to him he said that the chips should only take five minutes, the manager had to get his mummy to ring me and she said she was the owner, i told her how long i had to wait she then said i got the chips in 7 minutes and she changed it to 15 minutes that was a lie, the man that took my order was more interested messing about with the girl at the back then frying fish & chips, i also had no mask on not once did they say anything to me about it, the manager and his mummy the owner was very IGNORANT, badly run restaurant , bring back the old owners, my advice go to fryer tucks or country fried chicken church st warrenpoint, you wil get your chips less then five minutes, WE WONT BE BACK AT GENOA.More

Terribly disappointed with that which I witnessed here tonight. The server was wearing her face mask like a beard. She was handling cash and then food, no gloves, touching her face and uniform without sanitising her hands. The sanitizer was plentiful and beside her work...station. She exchanged food parcels with builders, again no sanitising was happening. The builders were not wearing face masks. The food parcels were returned to food preparation areas and still no sanitising could be seen. When I spoke with the manager, who was very apologetic the server stood there smirking behind her. I would feel sorry for the poor manager having to try and deal with someone like that on my team. On a basic level there was poor food safety measures in place. A complete lack of HACCP training given what I witnessed, and clearly no thought for Covid guidelines. Utterly disgusting given the current pandemicMore

I’ve eaten food here for many years but I have to highly commend Team Genoa on the high standard of food service and safety especially during Covid. The food just keeps getting better The new style batter on their award winning Fish was just amazing....Highly recommend for a takeaway Treat. I asked the young waitress if the fish was fresh. She said it was frozen. I asked if the pizza was frozen. She said the dough was delivered to them and it was freshly made. She, then, returned from the kitchen and said the fish...was fresh frozen at sea, then asked if I still wanted the pizza. LOL. Maybe I should have chosen the fresh frozen fish because the pizza base was undercooked, the sauce unseen, the ham processed and thinly sliced as in a package sold at grocery stores for sandwiches. The pineapple pieces were from a tin. The gelato was crystalized, but OK.More

Was met at door by loud coarse lady. Said they were open but keep distance at tables. Toilets closed. Crazy. I ordered a burger with fried onions and a latte coffee. Took a while. They put the ketchup on themselves. too much. Yuk. Coffee was...ok but both nothing special. Still I expected that. Staff are rough and ready. But hey it is a chippy and ice cream parlour. At 7.35 stg,not that cheap. But Warrenpoint is busy spot. I recommend it.More
