After driving past this place for years and meaning to pop in, we finally did! The setting is gorgeous, there is a great playground, a bonsai display and a cactus garden to explore!! The food and coffee were sublime, with fantastic service. Won't be driving past again, will be stopping in a lot more regularly!! Thank you for a wonderful... More

Eight of us cyclists stopped for lunch during the week. Bike rack at the gate and p,entry of tables to choose fro. We sat on the back patio under cover looking out to the cactus and bonsai garden. Our food was ordered inside at the small counter. Staff were cheerful and helpful. The cheese scone was cheesy and peppery, hot... More

5 of us had an excellent lunch to celebrate a birthday. 3 had the special, sirloin steak 'sandwich', and although no steak knife was provided they had no trouble cutting the meat with an ordinary table knife. It came with bacon, mushrooms & tomato in a stack and all said how tasty it was. I had the vegetarian quiche which... More

We stopped here for lunch. I had the chicken mushroom leek pie which comes with salad. It was so tasty and was had been freshly made. The salad was also yummo + seemed like the lettuce + salad ingredients had just been freshly picked from garden. My hub had chowder and said was fab. This place is a must for... More

Good place to stop for lunch. Quirky and decent size. Food not exceptional but pretty good for a driving break.

A friend and I stopped here for lunch. The cottage atmosphere was wonderful as we walked up through the rambling garden. When we ordered our food the waitress, a lass from England was so warm friendly and helpful. The chicken pie and salad was one of the yummiest pies I have ever tasted. It went well with the glass of... More

Had breakfast here after spending a night in Nelson. Quality home made food and we enjoyed it thoroughly. We had the pancakes. The lightest pancakes ever and they were a real treat. Also had the bacon and eggs with the homemade rye bread. The freshly baked scones looked absolutely delicious. If I ever get back that way will definitely visit... More

This place was a great stop after descending the Tasman View trail from Tasman to Motueka. Count the monkeys in the downhill section in the tree and you get a food prize 😃 We tried the local Hop Federation beer. Very good. Food is good and staff really welcoming to bikers.

Winner of Wild Tomato magazine's best regional rural restaurant 2010 and recommended by both North and South and Cuisine magazines, Riverside Cafe is an integral part of the historic Riverside Community (est.1941). We serve fantastic fair-trade coffee, and a delicious selection of home made cakes, slices and our amazing brioche, with gluten free options always on offer. Our seasonal menu includes Tasman specialities, wild meats, great vegetarian options and lots of produce from the extensive Riverside gardens, plus superb wines from the plethora of vineyards in the Moutere area. You can dine al fresco in our lovely garden or on our sheltered deck area, or grab a table inside the historic cafe (built 1860) and be inspired by the local art which adorns the walls! A unique and wonderful cafe, offering a very warm welcome. We are open 7 days a week from 9.30 To 4.30Pm, plus open for dinner on Saturdays evenings. We will open both Fridays and Saturday evenings from Dec, and throughout summer: please call to check our evening opening dates to avoid disappointment!
