Nice food and service the pub could do with a little upgade, other than that the place is ok little bit out the way

Reading the recent review by Smithy, he obviously went to a different place than we did. The beer was good, the landlord friendly and the food good. The portions were very substantial and require a good appetite to do them justice - perhaps a little...More

Service great, friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Food was very average though, meat clearly just warmed up not freshly cooked, like a school dinner plate of food. Orange juice from the bar tasted off and that was because it was the cheapest carton orange juice...More

We really enjoyed our visit to The Royal Oak. The food was great and the staff were very friendly. Loved the beer too! We were staying just down the road at Tortworth Court Hotel and rate the food at Royal Oak better than the hotel....More

This pub has a gf menu online which is why we chose to eat there, along with its easy accessibility to the M5 (although it is in a quiet country location). After some initial confusion with a new waitress, a very lovely lady came over...More

Our party of seven thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Very quaint setting with separate rooms. There was a variety of meals too choose from (not just a Sunday roast) which pleased us. Was also impressed that we had table service not only for the meals...More

Lovely pub set in beautiful surroundings. We partly chose this pub as it has a really good gluten free menu. I have a few other food intolerances and the staff were really friendly and helpful in guiding me through the menu. The food was great...More

First time visiting this local pub tonight and we will definitely be back! The food was amazing especially the chocolate brownie! Service was great, only two staff but both were very friendly and helpful and had big smiles. All round an extremely pleasant night.

Popped in on a Sunday afternoon for a quick drink to escape the hot sun. Was faced with demotivated bar staff, a chef who was sitting at the bar complaining about the heat. Didn’t feel overly welcomed. Wouldn’t go back sadly.

Booking advised but not essential. Meals are excellent and good value. Price is typical for good "pub grub".

Description
Why not come for glass of wine and relax on our sofas in the Library or treat yourself to our delightful cuisine. We are well behaved dog and child friendly and offer a number of separate areas for either dining, relaxing or catching up with Premiership Rugby and Football in our TV Lounge courtesy of BT Sports. We offer private dining for large groups if required or for that special occasion why not set up your party of 8-10 around our glass topped Oak table situated over the Well. Our Double AA Rosette awarded Chef and his team are unbelievably passionate about their offerings .....We serve plentiful dishes based around English Classics - with a twist, we promote creativity in the kitchen and the chefs express this through regular menu changes and interesting 'Specials'. We pride ourselves by using traceable local produce prepared to an exceptional standard. Everything you see on our menu is freshly made from from scratch....Due to our popularity and exclusive number of covers we always advise booking in advance to avoid disappointment, we serve food Tuesday - Friday Lunch Time 12pm until 3pm, and Dinner 5pm until 9pm. Saturday we serve food all day from 12pm until 9pm and Sunday Roast 12-4pm though when it's gone it's gone! For that truly unique 'Royal Oak' experience why not try Chefs cave aged Charcuterie or Double Worcester Cheese hung in our very own 38ft Medieval Well. Our exceptional food is complimented by our extensive range of Wines and Champagnes and a great range of local Real Ales, Lager and Cider. Currently holding our 'Regular' slots are Cotswold Spring of Old Sodbury with their award winning Stunner and firm favourite Codger and Severn Vale of Dursley with their Award Winning Nibley Ale. We always feature an additional 'Guest Ale' with favourites such as Box Stem Breweries 'Funnel Blower', Butcombes 'Crimson King' and Hook Nortons 'Old Hooky' featuring to name a few.... Fancy something a little different then why not sample Cotswold Springs Aviator Cider and Lager? Both brewed locally and proving extremely popular. A number of favourites are also served to include Thatchers Gold, Old Rascal and Kingstone Press Ciders along with San Miguel, Carlsberg, Corona and Moretti Lagers with of course Guiness and Guiness Extra Cold. We are confident you will truly enjoy your experience look forward to seeing you soon....
