Called in at the Roots this morning, looking for a big brunch and lured in by others’ TA reviews. We were not disappointed! A lovely, relaxed and airy cafe serving the finest ingredients, every element of which was prepared and cooked to *perfection*. Still-runny poached eggs sprinkled with chives, golden bacon, mushrooms and sourdough bread and crispy black pudding. A total delight! Very good value too. Only concern was the GREEN tea (check the photo!), but this was kindly deducted from the bill without quibble, as it wasn’t to the customer’s taste. Highly recommended and very much look forwards to returning.

Visited for breakfast on Saturday as we were camping nearby . It was a Great cafe which had very tasty food and at a reasonable price. I had a sausage sandwich and my husband had the brioche sandwich - both of which were delicious. It was Really clean premises. The staff were lovely and very accommodating when I asked for just a sausage butty that wasn’t on the menu. I also had a piece of the banana bread which was absolutely amazing!

We were regulars to this venue some years ago when we really enjoyed the food and service. We moved home and only returned a few days ago. We decided to go for lunch arriving at 1245 pm and asked for the lunch time menu. We were given the breakfast menu which we queried. We were advised that they were running on a reduced menu. We were both disappointed as we had not been advised of this when we were booking the table that lunch was not being served. It was too late to go elsewhere and we were both hungry so we both ordered welsh rarebit which turned out to be a poorly prepared cheese on toast with the thinnest spread of cheese which did not reach the edge of the toast. There was a scattering of chives over the cheese and a meagre side which comprised a piece of cucumber and a tomato quarter. This took over 30 minutes to arrive with no apologies offered. In fact I had to query what had happened to our order. The restaurant had few customers, 3 waitresses and 1 cook. My wife had a cup of tea and this sparse lunch cost just under £17. Needless to say we will not be returning to this venue as it does not offer value for money and the service is diabolical.

Googled restaurants and cafes that sell pancakes, this came up so we drove 35 miles. Parked up, seated and presented menus.. I wasn’t told of anything sold out or items they don’t have etc.. Ordered drinks, Then began to order food, and as I requested pancakes, I’m told they don’t sell them anymore(some excuse relating to covid) I mentioned it was plastered all over their website and menu.. Disappointed, if you don’t sell a product anymore, don’t advertise it. I ended up ordering a cooked breakfast.. rather small given the hefty price tag.. Unless they start doing pancakes again, I won’t be returning, I’ll stop at one of the 20 cafes I passed on the way, with better value for money. Thanks

Me and my 2 friends visited here on Saturday for a late breakfast. We were told there were no tables as the ones we could see available she had to keep for people coming in for lunch. She gave no eye contact and no apologies, we went to leave and noticed all the tables on the lawn were free outside. We then asked was it ok to eat outside as it was a sunny day. She just nodded ok. We sat outside for 10 mins with menus we picked up, no one came to take our order. I went inside to the counter and said can I order 3 full english breakfasts , to be told someone will come outside to take your order. I went back outside and me and my two friends sat a further 10 mins and again no one came. We got up and left. We have never been treated so rudely and with such disregard. We are in our 50,s and 60’s and expect the courtesy and respect we give to others. Shocking place. Rude woman.

Welcoming staff, good coffee, quality ingredients used + lovely comfortable cafe/bistro = fantastic experience! The egg yolks were a vibrant colour and they were perfectly poached. We had a full breakfast and eggs benedict - the food was well presented and very appetising. It's nice to have a meal that uses good quality produce, is delicious and full of flavour. I will be back - thank you.

Arrived at 0930hrs during the week and wasn't too busy (filled up a bit whilst we were there). Eggs "Benny" was a good choice (eggs benedict) - the Ham was nice (thick) and the eggs were perfect, the muffin was also enjoyable. A dash of tabasco (my choice) finished it off nicely. Would have liked a little bit more salad on the side but we shall not let that detract from the experience. Fantastic large Cappuccino. Decor is light, airy and pleasant with attentive staff. Parking outside, if it is full, fear not! There is the free library parking and if even that fails, just pop over the road to the big Tesco. Certainly worth a visit if looking for breakfast in Abergele.

We've been here a few times now and the quality of the food is excellent. The staff are always pleasant the menu is good and to date everything we have tried has been top notch. You might wait a little while to be served but its worth it.

A mixed experience but ultimately a sour taste left - the worst thing is the food was very good, the location is good and the cafe is clean and bright, so all in all that is a massive positive. However, the first impression you get, is often the one that is left with you and if there is one thing I hate, it is being made to feel like you are a burden to the people waiting on. I have never seen less interested staff, clearly did not want to be there, and didnt want us to be there. Its a shame as I am sure that is not how it may be, but it was that day, they were very young and maybe didnt know the importance of a warm smile and some decent customer service, it isnt hard. Maybe it was a off day, maybe they were tired, but it really made a bad impression on me and even my 16yr old step son thought the "attitude" was noticeable. But as said, food was excellent, so if that sort of thing doesnt bother you then I do recommend.

Never underestimate the importance of good toast. Theirs is golden with plenty real butter, good bread, and served hot. I had ordered toast in a well-known cafe in Rhos the day before and it was awful, I abandoned it. Great cafe, lovely food, good service and spotless.

The "service" was SO SLOW. All we had was a bowl of soup and cheese on toast! It must have been an hour coming. The cafe WASN'T busy, we were there on a Thursday. Besides ourselves (2) there was one lady who, seemed to wait ages for her smashed avocado and three young lads who just had. So dear reader if you are in a hurry, have a train to catch or something you need to find a quicker ROUTE.

We thought we start our holiday with a cooked breakfast. On entering the cafe we were told that there was an half an hour wait. No worries we thought. Waitress took order drinks arrived. Then after an hour wait our breakfast arrived the food was very nice and presented and was at a good temperature. The thing that I couldn't work out the place wasn't busy as a section was screened off. Three waitresses were standing behind the counter. The plus things were the food very nice when it eventually arrived. The place was clean.

Couldn’t be happier that roots is back open. Food is amazing and so fresh. Everything tasted amazing, we had a veggie breakfast and a roots breakfast. The veggie breakfast is by far the best I’ve had, everything was cooked perfectly! The staff are lovely, welcoming and helpful. Can’t wait to come back 😊

Nice little cafe and clean, polite staff. Good food, we had the eggs benny with salmon which daughter loved and I had the festive bap which was very nice. I would of liked a larger section of cakes but that’s just me and my sweet tooth. Would definitely return again when in the area
