We called in to the Wheatsheaf for lunch and were not disappointed. We thought the menu was excellent with numerous different dishes that we liked the sound of. For our mains we chose the pork Stincanto and slow braised fillet of beef. Both dishes arrived...piping hot and were very tasty with very generous portions. For desserts we both chose the homemade apple and cinnamon crumble. Once again these were served piping hot and unusually for a crumble were deliciously light. We really appreciated the time that the owner and chef Mike spent talking to us and explaining the history of the Wheatsheaf since he took ownership. The service from every member of staff was friendly and efficient. Along with 2 pints of tasty Brixton ale and a soft drink the bill came to £60.00. Had a busy day so decided to have a take away. Very accommodating gentleman took the order and hubby collected at the given time. The food was really delicious. Braised fillet of beef is superb. Lovely fresh veg to accompany it and apple crumble to...finish. Food was hot and very well packed to safely transport home. Recommend and will certainly be using regularly ourselves.More

Another gorgeous meal at the Wheatsheaf this is our favourite place to eat with our 2 small boys. All the staff are very accommodating and so lovely with our boys. We drive 50 mins to get there but it’s so worth it. Food is always...piping hot, fresh and delicious! Thank you again for a very delicious lunch.More

Visited for a birthday lunch . Really good . This is a proper pub doing excellent food , not trying to be a pretentious gastro pub. Great friendly service with a smile. We had calamari and squid for starters (different starters ) both hot crunchy...and presented very well. We both followed with the world renowned pies . Mine a chicken and stuffing pie , other a lamb pie. Both delicious ,mine served with mashed spud and veg and with a jug of gravy . Other served with chunky chips , pot of gravy and veg. Both meals served lovely and hot , great presentation and very filling. No room for pud . Thanks for a lovely meal and will definately be back.More

Having been refused food at 9.05 pm by another local pub, the landlord of the wheatsheaf took pity on 2 very weary travellers and arranged for food after 9.30 pm by the time we actually got there. Service was friendly and helpful and we enjoyed...a lovely late evening meal in pleasant surroundings. Would highly recommend.More

Got caught stranded on route home to manchester due to our car breaking down. Mike was massively welcoming and offered us amazing food and service throughout the night until accomodation was sorted. Drinks were flowing with extremely friendly people and the food on offer was...brilliant and accomodated perfectly for my partners egg allergy, would highly recommend a visit and will be back again at some point.More
