The atmosphere was great. The meal was tasty enough BUT it is nice to be given a choice when you go out for a meal. We were a largish party and most had travelled that day to Cromwell so we just wanted a good pub...More

Welcome and service was fantastic. Food, wines, and beers also excellent. Had an excellent evening sitting by the fire.

Bannockburn is a bit out of the way. It's off the main route between Cromwell and Queenstown and because of that is easily missed. But that's a big mistake. It is a destination in its own right. You could stay here a week and not...More

We popped in here for a late lunch (4pm!) and what a great find!! Anna, our host, advised us on sharing plates and fabulous Central Otago wines. Do not go past the SLIMMERS' baked Camembert with pancetta, date and mushroom. Yum! We also tried the...More

Great food and very friendly staff! Went back a second time it was that good! The staff moved us outside to eat our desert so we could enjoy the amazing view!

Fantastic friendly service! As welcoming to us as 'out of towners' as they were to their clearly loyal and local customers. Food was great and wine list phenomenal. Can't recommend this place highly enough. Everything was top notch. A credit to the region.

The Bannockburn Hotel is a Wine Country Restaurant and Bar is just across the bridge from Cromwell, a thriving township in the heart of Central Otago. We are privileged to look out over some of the finest vineyards in the world.

We’ve seen the Gold Rush of the 1860’s, the Chinese settlements have come and gone, the valley has flooded and we’re still here serving great food, beer, and amazing local wine.

With over 150 wines on our list and more than 40 of those are available by the glass, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to sample some fantastic wine with your lunch, dinner, or lazy grazing snack.

Our restaurant and bar menu is a sharing or tapas style and features a varied list of innovative dishes for you to experience together with friends and family. Alternatively, you can choose from the list of classic pub favourites.

Come and lose an afternoon or two in our beer gardens, taking in the views or relaxing in front of the fire… after all, this is a pub with history, in fact we had the first liquor license in Central Otago.

The historic nature of the pub’s name does indicate that we have accommodation on site, however there has been no accommodation since the late 90’s. This will be rectified in a few years’ time so watch this space …
