This little bar is what 'BARS" are all about, FUN! There is nothing modern or pretentious here, plywood bar - plastic chairs - a TV....the catch is the famous "Batanga" tequila-lime-coke on ice created back in the 1950's... It's a working museum.

If you don't know, you need to know! This is the only true cantina in the village of Tequila. Simple, down to earth, friendly - what more do you need? Founded by Don Javier Delgado Corona in the early part of the 20th century, this place is a living relic. Enjoy it while you can, and ask for Don Javier's... More

This is a must-visit place when touring the town of Tequila. Fun little cantina with a rich history.

La capilla was a must on our to-do list while staying in Tequila. We were a little disappointed in the atmosphere. It was grimy, needs a little up keep. There was no music so the vibe was not there. They had a movie playing instead which makes socializing a little hard. The famous batanga was good though! We were there... More

The bar is ok. The batanga, the famous drink, is good. Try one. Just one. They use regular tequila so the drink is quite strong. I sit in a table with a plug so I charge my phone. Not really much more to comment. If you are in tequila, want a refreshment and want to spend between 20 and 30... More

This is a no frills hole in the wall that serves a great drink in the Batanga, which is dangerously delicious, in a warm and friendly environment. We even met up with the bartenders later at another bar for a nightcap. Probably not for everyone's, but for those that "get it", it's a must.

Amazing local Cantina. Delicious Batangas, went twice with the hopes of meeting Don Javier sadly the first trip we had just missed him. Super excited the 2nd day we went and saw him in his corner table reading the local newspaper. He is the most friendliest/humble man cracking jokes. You have to go at least once as it is one... If you blink you might miss this hidden gem in the small town of Tequila, Jalisco but - it's world famous. Celebrities, rock stars and tequila aficionados from far and wide make a point to try Don Javier's 'Batanga'. Even Carlos Santana himself comes once a year, plays a free concert in town square then drinks the night away in... More

Very unassuming when you first see it, but with genuine "amistad" of the bartenders and regulars (which seem to swap roles at will), who were singing along to the recorded music at the top of their lungs when we first walked in. I feel like I left a little bit of myself there. I hope you have a similar experience.... More
