Welcome to Nikos Taverna located on the beautiful, picturesque peninsula of Vasilikos in the village of Gerakas, the southeastern-most part of Zakynthos (Zante) Island. This pretty stone restaurant inside a well-kept garden is run by Nikos and his family who are waiting to give you a warm welcome and tempt you with their delicious cuisine. Traditional, home made Greek dishes and selected local specialities, all prepared on site with fresh, quality ingredients, are waiting for you to taste. Families will feel welcome here as the restaurant features a playground as well as high chairs. Free parking is also available.

Delicous healthy vegan food

For my vegan daughter this taverna was gold and they save our holiday, 10days! I knew i will not find a vegan island but at least i hoped i find something proteic not fried stuff which is not healthy for 2 years old kid. But in Zakynthos i never find chikpeas or beans or any other proteic stuff to cook in the kichen. The restaurants had only fried courgette, frenche fries, pittyfull giant beans. Nothing else. But this taverna cooked for us fresh meals each day: lentils, chickpeas, humus, beans (two tipe 2different meals) priam with beans, delicious bread made frech with spice, pasta, also dessert vegan. It was such a joy to eat there. My daughter asked each day to go to Vasilikos. Thank God they exist. No other restaurant wanted to do the same.

Good service, Delicious Food

We ate here regularly during our stay in Gerakas this year. It's comfortable, clean and friendly. The family who run it are all helpful, polite and cheerful, always willing to help and advise. The grills were very tasty and cooked to order, I particularly recommend the pork souvlaki which is SO yummy! Also excellent was the baked cheese saganaki which comes golden and crusty on the outside and softly melting in the middle. All prices were very, very reasonable and most portions big enough for 2 to share. Complementary fruit or pudding always included - a very highly recommended taverna!

After a morning sat on Gerakas beach there’s nothing better than a snack and a draft Mythos at this taverna. The people are lovely and the food is wonderful and great value. The outside tables are shaded and the vibe is special

Marvelous lunch just after beach rest

We had a marvelous lunch at Nikos Taverna just after beach rest. The dishes were delicious, we appreciate dessert and coffee. The lady who served us was speaking English very well, she was kind and helpful. During 5 days in Zakynthos, when we visited nearly the whole east cost, Nikos Taverna seems to be the best restaurant we visited so far. Anna, Leszek, Zofia

Came here for a snack, lunch and evening meal on several occasions whilst on holiday. Service is friendly and attentive, we were made to feel very welcome by the family running the place, food is nice and served in large portions. just a nice place to eat, drink and relax.

Average at best. Food was average - traditional meatballs very very salty. Kids had lemon chicken which lacked any flavour. Was unfortunately worst place we ate on the island, but still adequate. Prices were on-par with everywhere else. With so many other taverna's in this area I'd try somewhere else.

Excellent Choice for Both Lunch & Dinner

We love Niko's, we have visited Gerakas regularly for many years and Niko's is our absolute favourite dinner spot. Family run, friendly people, great service and, most importantly, really tasty and authentic Greek food. The grills are particularly good, cooked to order and served in very generous potions. The papoutsakis are also exceptionally delicious, one of the best meals I've ever had in Greece! Everything seems to go really well with the local rose wine!

Good fresh food reasonably priced

Of the four eateries right by Gerakas beach we tended to default to this one because we found the food the best. Menus and prices in all are pretty similar, but this has more of a home cooked feel to it, and we knew the chicken was fresh, not sure we wanted to know that it has been despatched that morning from the small flock running around in the pen next door ! The only real downside is how unhappy and stressed the couple who run it look. He just sits there on his phone in close proximity to the tables and doesn't move, and the lady who I presume is his wife does all the running around. It would look a lot better if he went elsewhere, they all smiled a bit more, and got rid of the masks !

Prefect Greek Restaurant

Some of the best Greek food on the island. Their stuffed vine leaves, Greek salad, swordfish, calamaris, flat bread, olives, chips (to die for) …… perfect ! Fabulous cocktails…. 2 adults , plus drinks, under €40s The staff made every visit feel very special and we always made sure we arrived just as the sun was setting over Gerakas beach which covers the restaurant in a golden glow…. Highly highly recommend. 🤩

Waitress was lovely and attentive Upon first look the menu and decor look nice. We sat inside and noticed cobwebs on chairs and alot of flies around. We kept having to waft them away while we ate. The food was poor, chips were pale and greesy. Much of the meal wasnt fresh. The portion sizes were large and more then enough, shame not much of it could be eaten.

Nikos is the Best!

This traditional Greek taverna is a not to be missed experience. The food is prepared in the old school village way using fresh local seasonal ingredients. We went there two nights running because the food was so good and each dish was delicious and perfectly prepared and served. Our host was kind & patient & spoke perfect English. The orange pie served with homemade yogurt was the best we had in all of the Peloponnese!

We visited for a family dinner. Sadly the restaurant was relatively quiet, but the staff were welcoming and lovely. It's a very large restaurant and outside there is a play area for the kids. Food was very good, lovely olives, gorgeous bread, the largest Bream I've seen for many years (cooked perfectly) and some very tasted Souvlaki. The carafe of house red was pretty good too. All very reasonably priced.

A fabulous place with very, very cool people. Brilliant food!!! Whatever we ordered, it was extremely tasty, cooked in the traditional style. Very good gyros, impeccable souvlaki. Generous portions, homemade dessert, more than decent prices.

The best restaurant we have made on the island, excellent nothing to complain about. We ate at lunch the best home fried pita gyros excellent and in the evening octopus and squid perfect. Same for the starters. Fresh orange juice is also very, very good. Best value for money
