Found this by chance, a large family from abroad, 3 generations, very hungry after an afternoon at the nearby Butterfly Farm. Got a family table in a quiet back room which suited us fine. Large selection of Bangladeshi/Indian food, also a few western dishes. Excellent service with good advice from staff. All the food was excellent. The vindaloo could have... More

Late review. Here on hogmany 2016 in a group of 8. Service and food was outstanding. Could not find a fault on any aspect of our visit. We changed the number attending the few days before we arrived. 2 up to 4. Then up to 6. Then changed again to 8 at last minute !!! Itihaas were very accomodating. I... More

Great food, friendly and very helpful staff, and overall a great experience. We were 9 people whom all had a great time. This place is marked on my map for future visits.

Ordered from the lunchtime menu, the two course option for £8.95 starter was fine, my main course had 4 small chunks of chicken in the dish. When we were asked ' is everything ok' I replied that I was disappointed with the quantity of meat as I basically had a dish full of sauce, also my husband had the thali... More

After a family trip to the Butterfly world, 10 hungry people (7 adults and 3 kids) needed something good to eat. After a round of Google-searches and a look at different restaurant ratings the decition was made to head for Itihaas in Dalkeith. A very good decision! We were served by Robert who gave good advise on menu choices, and... More

We went to Itihaas for a Valentine's meal. The food was excellent with a particular highlight being the haggis pakora starter. We sometimes find the portions at Indian restaurants can be a bit too much, but thought the mains at itihaas were the perfect amount. All in all, a very good experience. Thanks to Robert and the rest of the... More

I did not take any photos but I wish I had. The colours and presentation were lovely. It is truly the best beef, lamb and king prawns served, I do like to try everything so my wife and I share our different starters and mains. The staff are so friendly and helpful. This must be the best Indian in Scotland.

This afternoon after the rain stopped, I decided on a whim to have dinner at Itihaas, a Bangladeshi/Indian restaurant across the street from Morrisons. It was early – around 5:30 p.m. - and the beautiful restaurant with its white tablecloths, water goblets, and silverware, was empty. I was graciously welcomed and given a corner table, which I preferred, being a... More

Itihaas is a reasonably sized, yet still very intimate, curry house a very short walk from Dalkeith town centre. With a wide selection of commercial & more specialist curries and Indian cuisine on offer there is plenty to choose from for both the "play it safe" and more adventurous diner. Service is to a very high standard and the food... More
