Been modernised from our last visit and much better, brighter and welcoming. Co-vid guidelines in place and was comfortable with everything. Our waitress who did the service could have been more friendly and smiled more, no interaction with us. The gentleman on the host made up for what she didn't do, he was excellent with all the customers. We had a main meal and a dessert and the food was well presented. I wasn't impressed with the specials, beef stroganoff and wouldn't have this again, very disappointed. It was bland and the beef didn't melt in you mouth, it was a bit chewy. Mixed grill special was amazing and all cooked beautifully! Lemon roulade fantasic and the Eton Mess the same but portion size of this too small for the price!

I've only eaten here a handful of times but have never been disappointed, much like this time. 6 of us all ordered a good selection starters and mains and all were excellently presented and cooked to perfection. The Brownlow is the only place we have desserts as they are so delicious. Apologies to the staff as we enjoyed it so much we were the last to leave and could see they were waiting to close but never rushed us.

First of all, I will start with WOW! The food served at the Brownlow Inn is absolutely amazing. We eat here regularly and have never been disappointed with our meals. I would also like to add that the customer service we received, time and time again is outstanding. I have never had a negative experience and have always thought the management of the place is brilliant. The owner of the pub, Mark is extremely friendly, cannot do enough to make your visit as best it can be. Nothing is too much trouble for the owner here, delicious food is always served with a smile from the staff member. I am shocked to read some comments made on here, the Brownlow staff are always professional and most have worked there for years and years! The way that they have adapted to the ‘new normal’ is fantastic, very safe and lots of things in place to keep us safe whilst eating out. I have eaten here for years and can not believe someone would rate it 1 star, I’d rate it 11/10 if I could. Fantastic food, fantastic service and fantastic value. Will always return for more Brownlow burgers!

We’ve been to The Brownlow many times before for numerous BIG birthday parties taking a lot of our family and spending hundreds of pounds each time and I’ve always left them a good review, so I am really disappointed that I have to now write this one.During this pandemic you’d think business’s would be more compassionate to peoples situations, BUT NOT THE BROWNLOW! We were gifted a £50 voucher by our daughter and partner for Christmas 2019, but as we hadn’t used it by the first lock down in March 2020 we thought we’d wait to see how things panned out. We’ve never felt comfortable or safe enough to eat out or have a take away until now, so you can imagine our total disappointment when I’ve recently called up to order a take away to get told my voucher is no longer valid as it’s over 12 months old. I was also informed that they’d been open during this time, so we could have used it beforehand. Pardon me for having to isolate for the majority of the last year and not feeling safe to have food from somewhere I can not see it being prepared. Why is there a cut off date as to when you can use it, when they’ve already had the cash for it?? I was told to go in & speak to them face to face when they reopen, but what difference will this make if they won’t accept the voucher now and I have to explain my situation all over again when it wasn’t listened to the first time! This is the only place I know who is treating their customers this way. SHOCKING!!!

Hanging the phone up on me can not solve your problem of a voucher that expired in Dec 2020 and your first communication was February 2021. My offer still stands for you to pop in when we reopen and I will sort this out. There is now one condition to my offer; your one sided one star review of my business is removed prior to you calling in. Looking forward to seeing you as soon as we reopen or if you would like to meet beforehand drop me an email at mark@brownlowinn.co.uk to arrange. Kind Regards

Booked Monday 6/12/21 for 4 people, young waitress must have been new unsure of what she was doing. I ordered stroganoff, Tasteless, husband ordered Xmas pie, nothing like described, other two meals not too bad. Deserts Sticky Toffee pudding x3 asked for Ice Cream with 2 got cream, by the time they came back to the table they were lukewarm. £110 for poor meals and service. Never again

Our first night out since Covid lockdown so we maybe suffered a little trepidation. There was no need and our hosts certainly made us feel very welcome and at ease. We all had something different, both starters and mains and it was all very nice presented and tasty. I never complain about large portions, so diners preferring a lot on the plate will not be disappointed. Due to the Covid restrictions there were a couple less tables in our area of the inn, but you couldnt tell. The owner mentioned that a handful of staff were furloughed, but again, the quality of service was excellent. I think Laura was the young lady who served our table and she did a great job of making us welcome and looking after us What did we have ? Pulled beef, liver, gammon and tipsy cow pie- each one was very tasty. Thanks Brownlow Inn for a lovely meal.

Managed to get a space on the car park. Very welcoming. Room were in was beautiful and the tables well spread out. Menu wasnt a bad size but a lot of it burger or steak. Pinot was lovely and came in a wine cooler with a proper cloth to hold the bottle so it's not dripping all over you. So many places don't bother so we were impressed by this. Garlic bread starter was lovely. Everyone else enjoyed their main but mine was barely edible for me. Had the chilli and garlic skewer but it was swimming in oil and had so much salt I couldn't eat it. I dont use salt and am not used to it so the amount on this was just horrible. Picked some of the top of it and gave other half the rest. I did say when asked if it was ok and was offered some water. Still it left room for dessert which was lovely. I'd try again with a different main to see if it was nice as everyone else enjoyed what they ordered. Toilets were clean and offered spray to wipe round with which was very much appreciated.

Front of house gentleman was attentive to us describing the menu etc however i overheard him speaking to one of the young waiting staff he was very rude and abrupt to which she looked terrified so was a little off putting. All four of us had the braised beef Sunday lunch which was nice if a little over priced.two of our party had puddings which they both said were poor sticky toffee pudding small portion and cold.

Visited the restaurant for the first time initially after a breakfast. After arriving we realised that this wasn’t something on the menu so asked the waiter if there were any other options. Mark, the owner kindly offered to do us a full English breakfast due to having all of the ingredients bar the sausage. The breakfast was done so perfectly we didn’t even notice the sausage was missing, it looked and was incredible. By far one of the best breakfasts we have both had, made even better by the amazing service! Can’t thank Mark enough for our food and the service, left feeling more than impressed - Will definitely be back!

First time I have eaten out in a restaurant for them to actually take my request into consideration for a quite table. Staff were friendly and attentive. One lady in particular (South African accent I think) was funny and made conversation, really nice bubbly character. Had 3 courses and a few drinks for 70 quid, reasonable considering the food was delicious. My husband said it was one of the nicest steaks he's had, (and he knows his steak) we are new to the area and will now be frequent customers.

What an absolutely fantastic evening we had as a family at The Brownlow. As soon as we arrived we were welcomed and taken to our table where the staff were so friendly and polite. Nothing was to much trouble and time was taken by the staff to have conversations with the customers. The food was beautiful and for those of us who had steaks, they were cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was brilliant and you could tell that the customers and staff were glad to be back out enjoying themselves. Once we had finished our meal and our allocated time at the table was up we were able to move into the bar area for some drinks (cocktails are a must to try). I’m now looking forward to returning with my friends next weekend as I know we’re going to have another good evening. Mark and his team have really kept this beautiful country pub going during lockdown with their take always and it’s so nice to be able to continue supporting them now their fully open.

We’ve eaten at the Ryles Arms (sister to the Brownlow) many times without fault so decided to try The Brownlow. I needed to amend the booking and it was incredibly hard to reach the restaurant by phone. When we had the meal a small request of putting the cheese on the side was made to feel like a huge request. In general the service was poor with the waitress not having a good attitude. In addition we were not warned of exceptionally hot plates and one of our party burned their hand in front of the waitress, who didn’t even acknowledge it. Along with that we had to help the waitress on several occasions with the drinks and empties, not necessarily a problem but the attitude made it so. In all fairness the food was very nice, but overall experience at most average.

After our chef's had finished scowling and muttering obscenities to the front of house staff that took your order they duly obliged and removed the stilton from your stilton and bacon sauce. Glad you enjoyed it.

We often visit the Brownlow inn and hav been on many occasions but this visit wasnt up to the standard that it usually provides. As always the staff were very welcoming. The large beer battered cod was great as always. However the cheese pie was bland with not alot of taste to it which was a shame. The hot chocolate cake was quite dry. The service wasnt the best as we were often waiting a long time for plates to be cleared and for the bill.

Had one of the worst vegetarian burgers I've ever eaten. I couldn't eat it, it was so bad and I'm not a picky eater at all. The starter however was lovely and I ordered a pudding to try and make up for the awful main. Really disappointed considering the cost of the food. You normally can't go wrong with a veggie burger. When our plates were collected, I was asked how the food was I politely said the vegetarian burger was a huge let down and I couldn't eat it, they didn't seem surprised when I told them and reccomend a different main for me next time, I said I'll order a pudding to try and make up for it . I was a bit surprised they didn't offer a gesture of goodwill. Either a discount on the main or just anything really. My partner and I visited a few years ago and he was asked to remove his beanie hat when we were sat at our table which we were quite shocked about. He has a lot of insecurities about his hair and it wasn't like he was wearing a baseball cap or looked untidy. So after two visits where we have left feeling disappointed, I don't think we'll be back.

8 months have passed since you visited us so I'm really struggling to remember any details with your veggie burger feedback, sorry. We still have a dress code and we do politely request all gentlemen to remove their hats when entering regardless if it's a bowler hat, baseball cap or beanie. It is rude and disrespectful to your host and fellow diners to leave your hat on indoors. Sorry you won't be returning. Kind Regards Mark

I ordered chicken skewer with half rice and half chips which came with a BBQ sauce. A third of my plate was white, absolutely tasteless, rice. Another third was very pale, tasteless chips and the other third was a chicken skewer, which was very hard with BBQ sauce. Awful!! The table was sticky and I had to ask the waitress to wipe it over. I complained when we went to pay and to his credit the owner/manager didn’t charge. However he did say that I must have ordered the wrong thing and suggested next time I should order something different. Hello???

Hi June Your husband ate the exact same tasteless chips and rice with his meal and his plate was almost licked cleaned he enjoyed it so much. I thought we were going to be friends and like all friends do, we take good care of each other, we have eachothers backs, I'm Goose you can be Maverick and we always remain loyal to eachother. I got your back and when you told me you were dissatisfied with your meal I said no problems Maverick I've got this and took it off your bill with no fuss or hesitation. How do you repay the ever faithful Goose, as soon as my back is turned bang like a knife in the back a 1 star review!! A very sad ending indeed, roll the credits.
