Visited this family run restaurant on a windy Saturday night, warm welcome to a tastefully decorated establishment, no flock wall paper and some nice arty ornaments. Service was excellent, friendly, helpful and not overbearing. Catered well for my wife’s dietary needs (vegan, GF) food was promptly served, best onion bhajis I’ve ever had, delicate side salad garnish with pomegranate seeds and a very subtle spiced dressing. My wife had the veggie Aha dish which was lovely but could’ve done with more chilli heat, my king prawns arrived sizzling on a skillet, smothered in onions and spices, at least 7 massive split prawns and was fantastic. A great experience, nice calm atmosphere and lovely food, quite a few obvious regulars turning up, so that’s a good sign. You’ll need to bring your own drink as Raginis has no alcohol licence. Recommended highly.

Hello, Thank you so very much for the lovely detailed feedback. We were delighted to serve you on Saturday. The secret recipe of the Vegetable Aha originally created without any heat, but gladly next time we could add some heat in it as per your taste not a problem atall. Thanks once again for the review and looking forward to seeing you again. Kindest regards.

Passing through from Brighton to Exeter we stopped off here. it seemed some of the reviews were mixed but the staff were lovely and the curry was great - all seemed covid conscientious which was appreciated. Had a mix of food (kebabs/ curry/ breads) it was really tasty and well presented. Bring your own beer - was well worth the food price especially seeing as they don't charge corkage!

people are complaining on here about the price dont they realise that you have to pay for quality, best they stick with fish and chips.
they dont sell alcohol but you can bring your own which will be cheaper !
the food was wonderful I had a king prawn dish which for once were not chewy and the flavours were wonderful. I allso had a lime and ginger drink with fresh ginger in it was very nice. I live in essex so cannot make my local but please rangini open one in essex. locals appreciate what you have.

Have just had a take away meal for our golden wedding anniversary, we normally would go to another venue in town but tried this one on Trip Advisor and other recommendations. Big mistake, we ordered the set meal for two at £29.95, price seemed ok but the meal was not. Very disappointed, The girl who took order was very polite and she was also very polite on collection. I elected to collect at 19.30 and food came out pretty quickly, we live about one and a half miles. from restaurant. The starters consisted of 3 luke warm vegetable samosa and what was supposed to be Mix Kebab? This consisted of a small tub containing two pieces of tough chicken a few onions and I am not sure what the other thing was that looked like a sausage? again luke warm. The nan bread was ok ish, the papadoms did not taste crisp and fresh and the dips were pretty tasteless. The main course rice was good but not really enough for two. my Chicken Tikka Masla was very bland and looked like several large lumps of meat in a watrey reddish coloured sauce, my wives Prawn Bhuna was very watery and not good, neither meal was hot. My wife likes Saag Aloo but declined after one bite from a potato. The one saving grace was the two bags of salad which was very tasty and crisp. Overall a very disappointing experience. I am sure that the people who gave 5 star ratings did not have the quality of food that we had? Such a shame.

A group of around ten of us visited Ragini on Sunday night after the annual Grizzly Run in Seaton and I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough.
The surrounds were tastefully decorated and we were welcomed warmly by the staff/owners. The menu was varied and interesting. As well as having all the standard dishes you would expect for Bengali/Indian restaurant there were also a large number of dishes I had not heard of before giving a us a wide choice including plenty of options for the several vegetarians among us. I went for the Benaroshi Chicken which was delicious and all of our party enjoyed their different meals immensely, the kebabs looked particularly impressive.
The service was also excellent. Extremely friendly and quick despite being quite busy.
We'll definitely be back next year when we visit again!

I'm really sad to have to write this review but after giving the restaurant polite feedback directly via private communication, they unfortunately couldn't care less. They couldn't even be bothered to respond. I would hate for others to waste their money like we did.
Our takeaway delivery was an hour and a half late. When it arrived it was cold, the order was wrong and food was missing. The food was really bad, a lot of it wasn't even cooked. We actually threw most of it away but we still ate enough to give two of us dodgy stomachs. We spent the next morning in and out of the toilet! There was not one redeeming feature for the whole experience.
Ordering from Ragini was a massive disappointment and an expensive mistake, made worse by the restaurant not even offering an explanation or apology, let alone a refund for the wrong and missing food. It was a complete waste of money and it made us ill.
If they were just having a bad night then it happens but to consequently ignore us shows that they are happy to rip their customers off and make them ill.
Avoid.

The staff at ragini were very welcoming despite the late / unbooked arrival after our long drive down to Seaton. As two vegetarians they were accommodating and let us have paneer with traditional meat dishes, both of which were delicious! A particular shout out is worthy for the ragini rice and peshwari naans, as both were v tasty.
Thanks to the staff at ragini, I am sure we will both return soon.

Over the last 6/7 years I have spent several months each year in India. This is what my review is based on. I live in Seaton and through these dreadful times I am trying to support local businesses so that when coronavirus goes away these local businesses will still be here. We ordered several dishes and those in a gravy came in the same gravy. The lamb bhuna was nothing like a bhuna as I know it. I will order exactly the same meal very soon from Monsoon which is almost next door. Watch this space.
Ragini, I am very sorry to post this but extremely poor.

This restaurant never fails to surprise me with its menu of amazing Bengali food. during lockdown they offered deals and free meals to key workers and volunteers in the town. They also raised a lot of money for the NHS. They are amazing people who deserve to be supported all year round - and their food is excellent.

We ate at Ragini as part of the eat out to help out deal. The staff were friendly and there was plenty of room between tables. The food was well cooked and tasty especially the Thali. As it was on the deal the bill the price was really good. Had it not been on the deal the cost of the vegan meal one of our party ordered would have been £18 which for what was essentially a veggie curry seemed on the steep side.

This is a BYO. We booked a table on line but they weren’t expecting us when we arrived. Food was tasty and fresh but the dishes were
The most expensive I’ve seen for an Indian anywhere in the country. My daughter is veggie and asked for a paneer korma. When the bill arrived we were shocked to see they charged us an extra £3 for this than for meat or king prawns korma?! Left a very sour taste unfortunately so disappointing. Not the way to treat your customers if you want them to come back.

Thank you for your review. We book the table under the name of Shaw was on the table with a sticker for 4 person. When you arrived the newly joined server could not find the name on the list but within less than a minute you were given the allocated seat. When you said fresh and good food and the service is very good that's where we spend the money which you find the price is comparatively more than the other average Indian restaurants. As our moto is to serve best quality food by sourcing best ingredients we have to pay extra. High quality chefs demand high wages. And our menu price is clearly visible on our website. There is no hide and seek. We are working day and night to please our customers with the best quality food with a high standard atmosphere. However, it is not easy to please everybody, so we take your feedback as a complement as the food satisfied your palate and the criticism as an opportunity to improve. Thank you again for visiting us. Take care and stay safe.
Kindest regards.

We visited the restaurant whilst on holiday on the recommendation of a friend - and we’re not disappointed! The food was absolutely delicious, there was a really good choice of dishes we hadn’t tried before and the portion sizes were great. The service was perfect too.
There are a couple of reviews that mention the price but we definitely felt that we got excellent value for money - it is a little bit more expensive than some other restaurants ..... but you get what you pay for!
Would definitely go back.

We collected a take away order from here at the weekend. We ordered a selection of dishes for 2 people. The Like food was pleasant enough but nothing outstanding. A couple of the dishes were a little bit similar tasting. We were very surprised that the cost was nearly £50 and that was with 20% having been deducted from the menu price. It was also disappointing to see that one of the waiters busy in the restaurant and bringing out takeaway orders was wearing his mask around his chin rather than covering his mouth or nose.
I would not rush back.

We ordered three dishes as a take away. Two of them had obviously been cooked a long time ago and heated up. The texture of the chicken in the tandoori chicken was rubbery and practically inedible and the king prawns tasted as though they had been cooked, frozen and defrosted for this occasion. The nan was undercooked and soggy, I had to finish cooking it in my oven. The whole meal was so disappointing, we were looking forward to a night without cooking but in the end had to make something edible from our fridge. We will never be tempted to eat there again and they should be ashamed to send food of that caliber out of their kitchen.
