Great transit hotel multi language staff !!

Excellent Hotel friendly English speaking staff made us feel welcome! I have stayed here every year for 17 years and the hotel and great restaurant represents fantastic value for money!! As a weary traveler usually travelling from Bistrita Romania to Crediton Devon this hotel is perfect !! Key points: Great location on the Austrian Hungarian border ! Clean spacious rooms , Comfy beds en suit shower/toilets with clean soft towers. T.v. With international channels. Air Co to all rooms plus great winter heating systems. Safe secure free parking! Fabulous restaurant serving excellent meals throughout the day ! Locals come here to eat ! International dishes but mouth watering Hungarian classics are the best ! I tried everything but the half duck is the best on their multi language menu !! The food is top quality way above what you would ever expect in a transit hotel ! Our waiter spoke good English having previously worked In Cornwall U.K. Most waiters speak English or German and Romanian ! Mostly all 3 and Hungarian of course si I fail to understand some obviously untraveled people’s complaints!!!?That is pretty good for a village hotel in Hungary!! It’s got a great local produce shop and a nearby pub /café nightclub! The breakfast is extensive with fresh baked bread and the best creamiest scrambled eggs on planet Earth! Avoid if you they are near closing

If closing time is near you can only it Cordon Bleu or Viener Schnitzel. We have visited this place a dozen times. It's always a great option if you can go over the bad attitude by the waiters. We would've understand that we can only order those dishes but they way they say it is very rude. Also, it's not nice to be able to order only some dishes if the schedule of the restaurant is still open... hopefuly next time it'll be better. price is ok tho

Great food

We stay at Paprika at least once a year when we travel to Austria. The rooms are vert clean, the staff us helpful and friendly enough. The food is special here and there are people stopping by only for that. All in all, if you are in the area, stop for lunch or dinner. Everything in the menu is tasty.

Very disappointed, this place used to be a very good memory to me, but not anymore…the staff was very rude…

When I was a kid, I used to come here with my parents pretty often because we were travelling to Germany/Austria and we used to stop here to eat, sometimes even stay in the hotel, we really used to like the food and the waiters were always nice and sweet, so they had really good service… After a really long time, we decided to come here again to stay in the hotel and eat at the restaurant, it was a bad idea, first of all when we arrived at the restaurant they told us that they don’t have anything else to eat besides schnitzel, cordon bleu and goulash soup, we overlooked it and ordered goulash soups, schnitzels and cordon bleu. After we ate, me and my family went back to our rooms in the hotel, around 22:50, realising that we do not have still water for the night, mentioning that the restaurant normally closes at 23:00, so I ran to the restaurant to buy 2 bottles of water, when I arrived the waiter told me that I can only pay in cash for the water, I only had the card with me, so I ran back to the room to get cash and arrived back in the restaurant around 23:02 the waiter I spoke to was no longer there, so I went to another waitress and told her that I need water and I just want to buy water for the night, she yelled at me “closed”, I asked her once again: “So I can’t buy a water? I’m a guest in your hotel”, she yelled again: “CLOSED”; I told her one more time that I stay in the hotel and I need water…she yelled again “closed”. Now I am writing this from my room, I am extremely thirsty, I’ll probably drink some tap water…but I am so disappointed and mad, I loved this restaurant and their hotel when I was a kid, now that’s just a memory, the food got really bad from how it used to be and the waiters were mostly rude to me, I will no longer stay in this hotel and no longer eat at their restaurant.

Deeply disappointed

Our recent dining experience at Paprika Csarda was a mix of highs and lows. The restaurant is situated in a charming location, and the ambiance was lovely. However, several aspects of our visit left us feeling dissatisfied. Positives: The restaurant's atmosphere and decor were charming, providing a cozy setting for a meal. Negatives: The disappointment began with the goulash. It lacked the authentic taste I was hoping for. The service from the waitstaff was unfriendly and less accommodating than one would expect, especially considering the location's appeal to tourists. We were taken aback when we noticed dogs were allowed in the restaurant, which disrupted the overall dining experience. The most frustrating incident occurred when we wanted to settle our bill. In many countries, including Belgium and other Western nations, it's common to pay when leaving. However, our request seemed to offend the chef de salle. He reacted angrily and insisted we remain seated, saying "SIT" multiple times. This was a surprising and unnecessary confrontation that left me extremely anxious. In many other places, paying upon departure is standard practice, and nobody takes offence. As a result of this unpleasant encounter, we decided to leave earlier than planned. We had intended to dine here more than once during our stay, but after this experience, we're exploring alternative dining options for the rest of our visit. Overall, our visit to Paprika Csarda fell short of our expectations, and we were deeply disappointed by the goulash, service, and the confrontation with the chef. We hope this feedback helps the restaurant make improvements.

Horrible experience

They should say from the beginning that you are not welcome if you speak English. The waiters did not even speak with us when we try to reserve a table for our group. Twice. Too pitty as the place is very nice and used to be a good stop, but the personnel ruin any experience.

I only stayed one night there, the room was ok but the curtains didn't make any dark. So what my point is that at night time it wasn't dark and that wasn't the most comfortable thing, But overall it was really helpful, the food was good.

Stayed there, rooms are dirty, showers bad functions, smelly... Was there because of the food in restaurant but... Sadly I can say, it is worse Tha I can imagine... And in the end the waitress is horibble... He was asking for tips everytime he came at the table... What the hell is going on there???

All the time when we travel to Austria or Italy from Romania, we stop within this restaurant, where the food is a traditional Hungarian one; especially I love babgulyas from beans and also a cake with poppy and vanilla - yummy

The restaurant is located on the border between Austria and Hungary, easy to find! The portions of food are large and tasty! The waiters are friendly and serve you fast, they speak english! The restaurant has many places, it is Hungarian specific!

The breakfast was ok, with limited selection of products. However, in the evening, we arrived at 11:10 and although on their website it says that is open until midnight, the doors were closed and the waiters told us that the restaurant closes at 23:00 (on the doors the schedule was until 23:30 for eating and 24:00 for drinks). Had to drive 5 km to get a juice and some sandwiches.
