A quaint, traditional tea room just a few steps away from the market square in the middle of the town. Tables of two, three and four covered in oilcloth, rustic bare floorboards, a good number of patrons. We popped in here for coffee. The cheese scones were nicely flavoured, although a tad crumbly for my taste, especially as the butter... More

Always a very nice atmosphere and friendly, obliging staff. My partner had the pie and gravy and thought-on this occasion-that the portions had become smaller for a similar price. Please tell us this is wrong? I had the vegetarian quiche and salad with new potatoes. The sweet potatoe and coconut soup I really liked but my partner thought it to... More

I was taken to the Old Tea rooms by a friend at lunchtime and was quite delighted by the atmosphere and interior. There was a display of delicious looking homemade cakes which was tempting but I was here for lunch. The menu for lunch is not large but certainly ample. I ordered a chilli con carne and was surprised to... More

At last:a town cafe/restaurant which is really, really good.A lot of cafe staff elsewhere always seem to have had a good row just before opening time, but here they are so,very friendly and accommodating it's a real pleasure to be there.Great food, and atmosphere. Nothing to beat it.

Visited this pretty tea rooms on Saturday with my partner, I had the full English which was the best I've ever had! When I ordered I had the option of fried or scrambled egg, the choice of white or granary toast and whether to add black pudding and mushrooms. When it came I wasn't disappointed, cooked to perfection and non... More

We asked in one of the local clothing shops and they recommended this Tea Rooms. We were so pleased we had followed their recommendation as the place is a delight. Everywhere was spotlessly clean, and the staff although young, were all well trained, very friendly and welcoming. The hot menu is concise but adequate, however the choice of beautifully presented... My friend and I had a lovely lunch here. As it's a tea room I was surprised at the range of hot meals they did. We had homemade beef hot pot which was more of a stew really. It was piping hot and was very tasty. The meat was soft and was full of vegetables. The portion could have been... More

Not sure what Kim P is on about but my wife and I eat here regularly. There is a lovely atmosphere and the building lends itself well to this business. The owners are always trying to do what is best for all there customers and this has included experiments with table positions. They have created as much new space as... More
