Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Excellent lunch and attentive staff. We had a great meal and a couple of pints mid-walk. Friendly and beautifully located, it was undeservedly quiet for a Sunday lunchtime.

We went to the Pheasant to celebrate my daughters birthday; the staff were so welcoming, evening putting up a ‘Happy Birthday’ banner above our table. They made her feel so special; thank you for the excellent service and fabulous food.

A warm welcoming pub with good efficient service and nice food. fitted in our U3a dining group of 20 for lunch at very short notice. After we had been let down elsewhere. Much impressed.

A great find of a proper old English pub. On our way to Saffron Walden and needed a spot of lunch. A really good choice of starters or sandwiches, served by friendly staff and without a long wait despite there being a funeral wake in...progress. Would highly recommend this place when many of this ilk are disappearing fast.More

Best Sunday roast out for a long time. Great atmosphere. A fine pint of Guinness according to my Irish fella. Big thanks to Liam and the team - we'll be back.

I have been here to eat twice recently and both times it has been great. Delicious food and good, friendly service. The first time was a Saturday lunchtime for my mum’s birthday. I had calves liver and she had duck. The second time with my...other half for Sunday lunch. We both had the roast turkey which was moist and delicious. It came with roasted carrots/parsnips, cavolo nero, cauliflower cheese, stuffing, pigs in blankets, roast potatoes and a Yorkshire pud. Couldn’t fault it. Will definitely be going back!More

We had another lovely evening at The Pheasant, enjoying a very pleasant meal by the roaring fire. Beautifully cooked and presented pies – one chicken and leek the other beef and red wine, with superb proper chips (none of these skinny fry things). Tempted and...succumbed to desserts which were definitely home made and quite delicious. Served by friendly and attentive staff, altogether made for the perfect evening. Admittedly the Pheasant is our local but I would like to think that this is an unbiased review, we are so lucky to have this lovely pub on our doorstep.More

Living realtively locally to this establishment one wants to support it and see it flourish. Its never a good sign to see the 'Brakes Brothers' factory supplies at any establishment. For Sunday lunch , two main courses and 'deserts' with a basic bottle of red...wine £110. What a shame deserts cant be home made to warrant this kind of pricing? Unfortunately, either the food has to improve or the prices loweredMore
