Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My husband and I popped in here for a beer on a beautiful sunny day! I've got to say we had the most warmest welcome from the staff in there, it was like we were locals. We walked through a lovely looking restaurant area and...sat in the back garden patio area where I looked at their website and the pictures of the food looks amazing.. will have to try one day! If you want a place where you will be welcomed by some friendly faces and conversation then this is the spot for you! Thank you to all you lovely staff!More

Roast beef was lovely Would I cone...again not sure as I like to go different places and too me it was averageMore

First time at this pub, found the service to be very good and so friendly. Choose that days special which was mushroom and goat cheese quiche, chef came out and explained that as it was just coming out of oven and went through choice of...side dishes with us. So glad we choice this dish it was so tasty that had we not been going onto a meeting my friend was thinking of buying another portion to take away.More

We have eaten here a couple of times in the past so we decided to eat here again if it wasn't busy. We found that the place was empty so figured that we would not have to wait long for food. We waited just under...an hour for our food which was a fish burger with chips and a steak burger with chips. Although the food was plentiful, the fish burger had many big bones in it which suggested to me that the chef had not de boned the fish before battering. It spoiled the enjoyment of the fish burger.More

First visit to the White Swan while visiting the area. There is nothing bad to say about this fine pub, so I’ll just give my highlights. Beer. Good choice and well kept. Particular enjoyed the Camden IPA, beautifully chilled on a summers day. Staff. All...lovely and friendly, couldn’t do enough for us. Nothing too much trouble. Food. I had the Sunday roast. Beef delicious, amazing giant yorkie, nice veg, especially the cauliflower cheese. Wife had the red onion and goats cheese pizza. Clearly freshly made, looked and tasted amazing. Chicken burger for the lad, good sized piece of breast meat. No processed rubbish here! Chips got a special mention from him. I think it’s fair to say we’ll be back next time we are down this way!More

We have just returned from this pub after having Sunday lunch . Unfortunately it really was very poor today !The roast potatoes were very hard ,really undercooked ,as was the parsnips .The Yorkshire puddings were actually burnt black We like our veg slightly on the...firm side ,but this was so raw my elderly parents couldn't bite into it ! I ordered vegetarian roast ,I was really disappointed when I saw two tiny sausages on my plate ! I don't think I have ever gone anywhere for a vegetarian roast and not been offered some kind of nut roast ? The gravy for the meat eaters tasted bitter ? And very watery ! Mine was tasteless . I don't usually write a review , but honestly felt a need to today .At £15.95 per person I would certainly expect to be at least edible. We have had many meals here during the week as live local .The food has always been good , but am sorry to say we will not be returning . The only positive was the staff are really friendly .More

The lady at the bar who served us she was so polite and every time she was coming and asking if we are okay and if we need anything else. The place was nice and cozy. The food was cooked fresh and it didn't take...that long. I think we waited about 20 to 30 minutes for food to come out. The food was good actually enjoyed the chicken and the chips with the salad. Also I tried the lamb chops from my wife and they were really really nice and juicy. Thank you to the chef for cooking such a good meal. Thank you for the lady who served us.More

Just had an amazing meal. What a pleasure to have REAL, PROPER homecooked food.....Steak and ale pie with hand cut chips and the biggest piece of smoked haddock ever, placed on a creamy mashed potato. Cannot find fault !

We received a very warm welcome from the staff as we entered. We both had lamb chops, which were delicious. In fact, we also shared a starter of whitebait - lovely - and we had a dessert, too. My Eton Mess was delightful and my...husband's ice cream was also tasty. Our little dog, Sybil, was made to feel very welcome, too, with her own water bowl and biscuits. Would highly recommend a visit here!More

We're so glad we made the short walk to the White Swan for the Valentine's special. The food was plentiful, extremely tasty and an interesting variation on the normal menu produced by the ever improving chefs team. The seafood sharing platter had new, yet appropriate...flavours especially the carefully selected marinated anchovies. The meat main dish was of a very high standard and the vegetables were fresh and perfectly cooked. The desert of crepes and fruit was a wonderful Valentines treat which we both enjoyed immensely. A nice bottle of wine and great service made it a special night. Thank you.More

We had booked to go on Valentines Day but had not visited before. We received a very friendly welcome and were the first to arrive in the restaurant. Our servers were also very friendly and it was a pleasure to be there. Food wise I...chose Baked Camembert, my wife the Arancini. Both starters were hot and delicious. A good sign of things to come! For mains, I chose the Lamb shank and my wife chose Mussells. Oh my goodness did we enjoy them. My Lamb on a bed of superb mashed potato and side veg was so tasty. I did not want to finish it! Finally, we both had Crepes with berries and ice cream. Lovely sweet to end a perfect meal. All the staff we met were so friendly. Definitely a place to return to.More

A hugely enjoyable experience and we would thoroughly recommend the food, drink and staff in this pub to you. We will all be returning for Sunday lunch again very soon.More

We have been here quite allot as it is our go to place when returning from the west country. The staff are very helpful and welcoming and the food is great, the portions are massive and never can finish everything. There is a bar area...where you can sit and there is always lively conversation and out the back a sit down restaurant area where you can be as quiet as you want. Great pub food and roasts on Sunday.More
