Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Two gluten intolerant people out of three and we are handed a printed gluten free menu with a vegan menu on the reverse. All those dishes that other places cannot provide GF were here. I had battered calamari, sausages and mash and a rhubarb crumble, all GF and delicious. An object lesson to all those establishments that just find it all too much trouble. We'll be coming for lunch to meet up again, all the way from Horsham and Southampton respectively.

Thank you for your kind review, I’m glad you had a good experience! Having an accessible menu with lots of options has always been a big focus for us, so it’s good to hear that we’re getting it right ☺️

First time at this pub, found the service to be very good and so friendly. Choose that days special which was mushroom and goat cheese quiche, chef came out and explained that as it was just coming out of oven and went through choice of side dishes with us. So glad we choice this dish it was so tasty that had we not been going onto a meeting my friend was thinking of buying another portion to take away.

We have visited this pub on a number of occasions when in the area visiting our daughter. Today was her 21st and it was an easy decision as to where to go for lunch based on our previous experiences. Despite the website showing Pie on the menu when we got there it was not showing on the lunchtime offerings but we were delighted when the waiter managed to ascertain that pie was indeed available. It didn't disappoint! Superb service, lovely food, very nice surroundings. Well done The White Swan for getting it so right. Only 1 minor gripe - so many people have learning difficulties or struggle to understand 'unusual' signs and calling the loos Cobs and Pens might be worth a rethink!

We have eaten here a couple of times in the past so we decided to eat here again if it wasn't busy. We found that the place was empty so figured that we would not have to wait long for food. We waited just under an hour for our food which was a fish burger with chips and a steak burger with chips. Although the food was plentiful, the fish burger had many big bones in it which suggested to me that the chef had not de boned the fish before battering. It spoiled the enjoyment of the fish burger.

Fantastic meal with brilliant service. I had a home made steak and ale pie which was incredibly good and my wife had the chicken with garlic and cream sauce which she said was excellent. My daughters kids meal was really good too. We all had very generous portions and in my opinion it was great value. We will definitely come back when we are next in the area.

Five of us had Sunday lunch at the White Swan in Bosham at the beginning of February 2023 and what a great experience it was for all of us. We were warmly welcomed by the staff, all the food and drink we had was excellent, the service was first class. A hugely enjoyable experience and we would thoroughly recommend the food, drink and staff in this pub to you. We will all be returning for Sunday lunch again very soon.

We had dinner here one evening and the staffer were so helpful and welcoming. They had a gluten free menu (and a vegan menu) as well as the standard one, so this was great as my wife is coeliac. The food was very good, home cooked and plentiful. I had meat pie and my wife had tuna nicoise, both were delicious. The desserts were also very good and it is rare for my wife to be able to have a dessert in a pub, so that was a treat. We did not have to wait too long for our food and the room was very clean and comfortable. I would recommend this pub for their friendliness and the food and would eat there again if we are in the area.

Visited for Sunday lunch after going to the Witterings with our dog. The staff couldn't have been more welcoming. The food was really good value and tasty (I love a good Sunday roast but it's always a gamble going somewhere new isn't it)... this was yummy and the portions were generous (the dog is a Labrador so obviously he ate half of mine). Will be coming back next time we travel down.

Friendly greeting on arrival and seated immediately. The pub was busy, but the service we received from Emma was top notch, from start to finish. Beef roasts for us both and wow, absolutely everything was delicious! Lots of lovely, fresh vegetables and a separate, cauliflower, leek cheese, yum. Yorkshire puds were 10/10. Good sized portions. Not much room for puds, but we just had too!!! Fruit crumble, served in an individual pot with custard and chocolate brownie and ice cream were both scrumptious. We can heartily recommend, enjoy!

We chose the White Swan based on previous reviews and we were not not disappointed. We were a party of 12 celebrating exam results for three young family members. We had a lovely long table in the rear dining room. We were welcomed by staff and quickly had our drinks order taken. Our food choices were varied comprising 7 Sunday roasts, two pizzas, two burgers, and a chicken and ham pie. For any kitchen an order like this would be a challenge in cooking and co-ordinating the different meals but the kitchen brigade in The White Swan took it all in their stride and, to their great credit, turned out the 12 meals at the same time, all hot, and nicely presented. The waitng staff did an excellent job too, back and forth to the kitchen with many plates and side dishes of vegetables to accompany the roasts. This was some achievement. Congraulations to them all. The quality of the meals was superb and the roasts had a great selection of nicely cooked fresh vegetables. No one could fault their meal at all. Only half of us could manage desert after such substantial meals but they all looked delicious including sticky toffee pudding, chocolate brownies, Eton Mess and Banoffee Pie. Our lunch was an outstanding success and credit must be given to everyone on the staff of this lovely friendly pub. Thank you all.

The lady at the bar who served us she was so polite and every time she was coming and asking if we are okay and if we need anything else. The place was nice and cozy. The food was cooked fresh and it didn't take that long. I think we waited about 20 to 30 minutes for food to come out. The food was good actually enjoyed the chicken and the chips with the salad. Also I tried the lamb chops from my wife and they were really really nice and juicy. Thank you to the chef for cooking such a good meal. Thank you for the lady who served us.

We received a very warm welcome from the staff as we entered. We both had lamb chops, which were delicious. In fact, we also shared a starter of whitebait - lovely - and we had a dessert, too. My Eton Mess was delightful and my husband's ice cream was also tasty. Our little dog, Sybil, was made to feel very welcome, too, with her own water bowl and biscuits. Would highly recommend a visit here!

Time was getting late on the Sunday and we had been to Chichester Harbour and were trying to find a place that was still serving food. After calling quite a few local places that informed us they had stopped food at 3pm (Don't people eat after 3pm on a Sunday down south?) we found the White Swan was still open and serving food. On arrival, we wondered what we'd let ourselves in for. Looks nothing from the outside, have to park on a side street, but head inside and it's really, really nice. The staff were very welcoming and seated us straight away. The majority of our party chose the Sunday roast and what a good choice it was (the two teenagers had burgers and they were delighted by them). Can't remember having a nicer Sunday roast to be honest - so much so we dragged the chef out so we could embarrass him with compliments. So, the final thought is 'Never judge a book by it's cover'.

We held my partner's 60th Birthday here and it was perfect. Claire and the team did the catering and managed everything. The food was great. They had exactly the right amount of staff to cover the bar and buffet and Claire even stepped in and made a fantastic Birthday cake when the original cake maker had to pull out due to illness. Highly recommend the White Swan as a venue for a party or celebration meal. Thank you for making the night so special.
