After a long walk along the estuary I arrived at the Greyhound ready for a plate of fish and chips. The pub is unusual as it's built on two levels but it's attractive although my welcome wasn't the warmest, perhaps due to ordering food after the main lunch time ordering period. I settled with an excellent pint of real ale... More

What can I say ?? Nothing that good !! We came here today for a wake, and the food wasn't great. The place was freezing, the fire had almost gone out and the smoke wasn't great. Knowing they were expecting a number of people 2 bar staff wasn't enough. The food wasn't great, I wouldn't choose to come back here

Always good food here and you don't always have to book, unlike some other Wivenhoe restaurants.Nice garden area toes it's great in the summer months.

Decent venue with seating for nice cosy chats. Traditional pub with friendly locals. But the head barman did not like my choice of larger and said that an alternative that was a pound dearer is what I should be drinking. All because he served me a flat pint. He was rude, slow at serving and talked to his staff like dirt.

Great food and beer. But what can sometimes ruin here is a lot of kids being left to run riot. Once we came in and the back room was completely full of kids.

While visiting my daughter at university we decided to go for a meal. Tried to find a food serving roast dinners at 2pm on a Sunday. Drove past this place as it didn't look very nice on the outside in the end the other places were full or not serving food so took our chances. My 11 year old and... More

Hidden away in a quiet town lies a small but perfectly formed pub. Great service . Good menu. Delicious food. Reasonably priced. Popular with the locals

We visited on Saturday with our friends and their family for the 'family fun day' which consisted of a bouncy castle! It is a lovely pub with tasty pizzas and decorated beautifully but it's not family friendly. There was nowhere to change a nappy so I had to change my daughter on the floor in the toilets. The family fun... More
