Took our American guests to dine here. Food tasty and portion sizes adequate. Cocktails tasty and average £8-9. Steak cooked to perfection which is a pleasant surprise as I often find restaurants overcook them. Only negative feedback was the noise level in the dining room...More

As always the white oak maintains its standards of great customer service with some of the tastiest steak. It’s 30% off on Monday and we take a drink in for £5 corkage- it’s a bit pricey but worth it.

After a very tough day at work and not too interested in football we took ourselves off for dinner. What a lovely treat it was to have such a friendly greeting as we arrived, we were asked if we wanted our drinks and some menus...More

Maybe it was a bit of an off day but the pace of cooking and getting the food out was very slow. Front service very pleasant. Starters are rather pathetic for the money; far too small. Some of the mains were lukewarm and the chips...More

We booked here for Sunday lunch on Father's day and were not disappointed. Food was excellent and the service very friendly. Evertlything ran smoothly despite being very busy. We'll worth a visit, we will no doubt be back.

Fantastic lunch on Fathers Day for 9 of us! Service and staff were excellent from start to finish. Everyone enjoyed their food and roast potatoes probably the best were ever had! Excellent all round and very much enjoyed our visit. Cheers!

Description
Bridging the gap between country inn & local restaurant The White Oak is an independent and contemporary 'Gastro Pub' where the kitchen & service sets out to please. A L Carte & Set menus also decent value (£15/19 for two/three courses at lunch and dinner). The traditional Roast is served on Sundays alongside the A La Carte. There's also plenty of good drinking on the Corney & Barrow wine list (look for Delamotte Grand Cru Champagne, Archaval-Ferrer Malbec, & 'Psi' Tempanillo from Michael Sisseck), Local Ales & Cocktails in the Bar. The relaxed dining room's thick beams, cream chandeliers and widely spaced, bare tables match the food's smart, unfussy tone, while warm, engaging staff and a compact, broadly priced wine list also fit the bill.
