A previous review saying 'safe for coeliacs' gave me the hope to try this place on a mid week works nights out. Upon arrival, I informed the staff I was coeliac and they told me the entire restaurant was gluten free and I could even...eat the bread (!) Obviously being sceptical I asked what the flour was being used in the bread, to which I was informed 'plain'. When I asked them to double check with the chef, the return answer was 'self raising flour'. Unfortunately, I found the staff to be unhelpful and lacking in knowledge around what gluten is. The menu is not marked with allergies or intolerances which made choosing a meal highly stressful process and relied solely on the same staff telling me if the meal had gluten in it. I appreciate I asked a lot of questions and was an annoying customer but the staff did very little to reassure me or answer my questions well. The food was lovely and the whole group had high compliments for their food. However, being coeliac, the staff made my evening fraught with panic that I was going to suffer the consequences. Had I been with just my partner, we would have left and not taken the risk, but as we were in a large works group I felt unable to leave. I simply wouldn't eat here again and if you have intolerances / allergies, then err on the side of caution and contact the restaurant BEFORE booking.More
