I had never tried pannekoeken. In fact, I had never heard of it at all; however, when I discovered that it is a pancake of sorts, I was downright excited to have this beautiful thing on a plate in front of my face. I ordered the 12 inch, added fresh fruit, cinnamon sugar, and whipped cream topping. After drowning the... More

Cozy inside, loved the fireplace. Nice country decor. Good food, mediocre latte. Average prices. Good service.

Hi Valerie, Thank you for your review, but not sure if you are talking about our Restaurant, The Dancing Moose Cafe, Cape Breton NS. Reason for this is that you mention a fire place and we don't have one in our Cafe. Rest could be us, (even the mediocre Latte. Ours comes from a Nescafe machine and it is okay... More

I can't say enough, dancing moose makes soup and sandwiches into a meal fit for royalty. Every aspect made fresh and with love. They really take pride in what they do. Both the Dancing Moose Cafe (and their lodging - ZzzzMoose ?) offer hospitality that is exceptional in every way. Thank you and please, don't change a thing. We expected... More

I can't even believe the amazing experience I had here. My boyfriend and I were only here 2 days, and Ton was such an amazing host. We got in super late and he came right out and greeted us! Showed us our cabin tent, it was the newest one made with a little triangle window in a loft so you... More

The Dancing Moose Cafe is absolutely wonderful! The location is tucked away on the Cabot Trail but only a 30 minute drive from Ingonish beach. I immediately felt welcome upon arriving at the Dancing Moose and enjoyed the 3 days I spent there. The food was great. It super convenient to be able to grab something delicious and filling in... We came in early and Tom had been killed during enough to already have our cabin ready and the door unlocked while he stepped out to dinner. When he came back he checked out us right away. Was so friendly and accommodating. We didn't bring our own bedding for the cabin and Tom brought us each sets. The bedding was... More

Stop here for lunch. Never have had a Pannekoeken. I had the apple and bacon. It was delicious. The wait staff was great, they had wifi, and we had a good view of the ocean.

The Dancing Moose Café is a full-service restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, afternoon snacks, and baked goods, all made fresh right here. Visit us on the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia—a great place to meet and eat. We're open from 7:00 to 4:00 every day in summer, and for long weekends (Friday–Sunday) in winter.

Our signature dish is the Pannekoek, the Dutch way to enjoy a different kind of "pancake" for both breakfast and lunch. Try them sweet with real whipped cream, syrup, honey, icing sugar, fresh fruit, chocolate, raisins, nuts—the options are limited only by what's in season and our imagination. Or go savoury; green onions baked in, with Gouda cheese melted on top, or bacon and mushrooms cooked in, and an egg fried your way on top—just some of the delightful possibilities.

We prepare Belgian Waffles to order, and top them with your choice of fresh, hand-cut fruit, raisins (we soak them in vodka), cinnamon, icing sugar, and real whipped cream. If you spot something else on our menu that you'd like to see on your waffle, just ask; we'll try anything once!

Every day we make soup, often with a Dutch twist; in winter, there's chili, too. We make sandwiches hot or cold, filling dependent on what's in our pantry; whatever the filling, the bread is made right here. And we make our own granola cereal, too.

Have a hearty breakfast or lunch while you unwind at our picture-window tables, or bring your picnic lunch and grab dessert inside, then head out to where more tables await. Either way, enjoy our stunning ocean view.
