Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very accommodating as we had another family member join us at very short notice (10 minutes). We were a large booking on a Tuesday lunchtime. Definitely a great place to go with kids and dogs, which are welcomed. Great choice of dishes on the menu...and plenty for fussy children. Staff very pleasant and all the food was well cooked and everyone’s dishes came out together which is always the test of a good chef with a large party. Thank you!More

Girlfriend and myself travelled here with a very last minute (24hr) booking online to run some quick morning errands in Bristol before flying on to a long break in Italy. Booking in, we had a slight issue: no fault of 'Angel Inn', just a very...simple one-off oversight with the online booking company we used. As a result, the boss went out of her way to ensure everything was resolved literally without any complaint from ourselves, just a friendly beer table conversation and went well beyond anything considered necessary in what was evidently an emotional and stressful time for her. The resolve was beyond expectation and we feel guilty accepting it. It's a kindness we will not forget. We even forgot some trainers and had a call from her within minutes of checking out, literally as I was coming back through the door for them. We travel to Bristol once a month or more and the 'Angel Inn' will be where we stay going forward, many times. The location is superb, the staff super-friendly, lovely old rustic pub, clean rooms, beautiful old building, nice locals. Most of all, however, the owner is an absolute superstar who I can only wish the very best for! Thank you many times over and we will see you again soon, you would likely remember us. Our condolences for your dog passing once more :( xMore

Visited here with a friend for lunch. I was early so on arrival I was directed to a side room, with filthy seats and tables, and swarm of flies. There was no way I was eating here! There’s no excuse for bad cleanliness, I dread...to think what the kitchen is like. So I walked out and my friend and I went to The Ashton up the road.More

Not impressed at all, be careful about the step into pub as I fell over, not good after having a hip replacement recently, scampi good, lluke warm chips and cheap peas, loud music above booked table had to ask to move, polite server, but nobody...asked if food was ok. Pub was then invaded by parents with loads of kids running around the pub, not being supervised, had to leave early as was very uncomfortable.More

Great place for a weekend stay. We were a family of 4 doing a Uni visit and had two rooms adjacent to each other. Really good value for money with a lovely breakfast included. Great location for the park and ride to get into the...city. If you're a light sleeper ask for a room at the back of the pub. Landlord and staff really friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back and wouldn't hesitate in recommending it!More

A fabulous village inn. First rate beers, with plenty of premium lagers. Home cooked food, that is delicious and reasonable. Amazingly friendly management and staff. Even the dogs are welcomed with treats and lots of fusses💖. They also do B&B and though never used ourselves,...friends have stayed and said it was lovely. A relaxed atmosphere and a warm welcome greets you every time.More

We had a lovely lunch at The Angel on a cold wet January day with our 4 whippets. The Angel is small with only 6 or 7 tables spread across two cosy open-plan rooms on split levels plus a small bar in the centre. It...is traditional but not cluttered, warm and welcoming, cute and quaint, a proper English pub. The landlord is a star, really calm, friendly, genuine and patient despite a big crowd at the bar when we arrived. He worked non-stop the whole time we were there steadily serving everyone with good humour and giving the place a lovely atmosphere. It felt very homely, the tables and bars were clean, great selection of drinks including Fentimans sparkling cordials. The food is good value honest pub grub. We all had scampi and chips because it looked so good at the next door table! Nice hot scampi and golden crisp hot chips, generous portion and peas that were actually edible unlike many pub peas. The kitchen even did a bowl of sausages cooked specially for the dogs! The young waitress was lovely and did a great job. Will definitely return, this is a hidden gem. Feels like you're way out in the countryside and yet just on the edge of Ashton Court.More

A cosy, traditional pub/hotel in the Bristol countryside with pleasantly fitted rooms which combine tradition with modernity. We recently stayed at the Inn and everything was fantastic. Rooms very clean with the bathroom comfortable and modern. Would definitely stay again!
