We stopped in at Lanyon Homestead for afternoon tea after an afternoon further south. The cafe is out the back near the old homestead kitchens. We weren't sure what to expect, but it was surprisingly good - very nice coffee & we shared a slice of really delicious gluten-free cheesecake. At 2.30 mid-week the place was deserted - only 2... We visited Landon Homestead for afternoon tea and we're looking forward to Devonshire scones and coffee. The view and venue was great. Great coffee but the afternoon was let down by the scones, they were quite crusty on the outside and not fluffy inside. The service was poor and we had finished our coffees and had to remind staff to... More

Looking for a nice lunch in beautiful surroundings? This is it. The food is high quality (not particularly cheap) and you can soak up the beautiful view of the Brindabella ranges beyond the Murrumbidgee River. You can enjoy the gardens and historic outbuildings or you can walk through the historic homestead for a fee ($30 for a family) if that's... More

The food was good and the staff were very pleasant. Unfortunately the fire was smokey and filled the cafe whilst we ate. Having said that would go back for anothet meal.

Dined here on a gorgeous sunny winter's day. We sat outside to fully appreciate the natural surroundings and views, but there also were tables inside the cafe with 2 fireplaces. Quite a decent menu selection, nothing gourmet, but totally appropriate and comforting for this beautiful country setting. Service was friendly, coffee was delicious, meals were generous sized portions and tasty.... More

My friends and I love having lunch at the Lanyon cafe and normally sit on an outside table to enjoy the tranquil views. The food and coffee are both very good and the service is exceptional. The menu is quite varied with lots of vegetarian options. This is a wonderful place to visit with the lovely homestead as well as... More

A long walk in the mountains and the subsequent need for sustenance led to an impromptu lunch date at Lanyon cafe. We were welcomed warmly and invited to enjoy a coffee while pouring over the extensive menu. Two excellent specials but we decided with the ploughmans lunch and roast duck pizza. Food was very quick and substantial. All was beautifully... More

I booked the night before but for 9am it's probably not necessary unless you're a large group. The food is fabulous and very generous servings. Service good. Very peaceful, a real hidden gem of south Canberra.

After high expectations we were utterly disappointed with the service and quality of food. Would not recommend.

We had an impromptu lunch at the cafe today. I enjoyed the roast pumpkin soup with sourdough bread and my partner enjoyed his grilled sausages and especially the accompanying roast kipfler potatoes.Even though it was cloudy, we sat at a picnic table outside and enjoyed the view of the valley. We are looking forward to going back for breakfast.
