Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Well over-priced and unfriendly, rude staff. Food quality is a bit like that of a pub in the 70s. There seems to be a total lack of consideration given to customers.

Had such a lovely dinner tonight. Went for a vegetarian option despite not being vegetarian, just because it sounded interesting. I was not disappointed, it was absolutely delicious. My husband really enjoyed his steak too. The desserts were also so good. Couldn’t fault the service...and the pub was busy with a lively but relaxed atmosphere. So lucky to have this on our doorstep.More

The experience from start to finish was absolutely perfect. We walked in on spec as a group of 4, a table was found in the restaurant, starters, main meals and drinks were excellent, the staff were friendly, attentive and professional. The attention to detail was...above and beyond throughout the evening - The Glynne Arms is not one to be missed. Thanks Again 👍🏻More

The food here was really good. Let down by the service. We had to ask for our drinks after the starter arrived, we had to ask for Toast with the pate - the server didn't know if it came with it or not. Roast beef...dinner was the best we have had for miles around though. We asked for dessert menus which we then had to ask for again after 15 minutes. We eventually ordered ten minutes or so later, and then decided to get the bill after 20 minutes when the desserts never arrived, we did get soup spoons though as apparently that's all they had. I imagine there were dessert spoons somewhere but it was probably easier to just give soup spoons as it saved them having to leave their chit chat to go and find them. There were a couple of efficient staff behind the bar but the floor staff, of which there were plenty just stood chatting and drinking by the coffee machine ignoring everything that was going on. Such a shame, especially as the food is really good. If you can't offer efficient table service then just adjust your offer so customers can order at the bar. Customers don't mind paying a fair price for good food if the service is good too. Its not hard. It seemed the place wasn't managed tonight maybe it was just a bad day but puts you off a revisit when this is already the second time we have had this experience.More

Six of us went for a meal just before Christmas. A very disappointing experience with both service & food. Discussed with member of staff at the time but no real apology or resolution. Emailed the manager (had to follow up 2 weeks later for a...response). Glad to hear they’d address staff training issues but disappointed with their response to food issues. Six dishes over 3 courses were not good (under/over cooked, cold etc) and the response was that we should have sent them back to the kitchen. I think an issue with one dish is acceptable but 6 dishes?!! Emailed again questioning their response to the food issues…2 weeks later & still awaiting a response (again I have followed up to prompt a reply…but nothing). Would definitely not recommend for food - maybe nice place for a drink. Going out for a meal at the moment is a real treat with cost of living etc so feel really cheated by our experience at the Glynne ArmsMore

Beautifully decorated and welcoming pub/restaurant. I would say, Edwardian decor. We received a warm welcome, drinks, then through to the restaurant. There the Sunday lunch was served, roast beef, fresh vegetables and Yorkshire pudding. Absolutely wonderful. As was the dessert, heavenly, light sticky toffee pudding....This is a great place for dog lovers. Nearly every table had a happy dog either under it, the small dogs, or next to it, the bigger dogs. Our dog happily stayed under the table. The friendly, helpful staff weaved around the room offering great service. We will definitely be going back.More

We come here most weeks and without any notice we were turned away on New Years Eve afternoon. There was no notice that they would be closed prior to the paid entry in the evening. Whilst staying at the Village Hotel, a gentleman began to chat to us, who lived locally and recommended a couple of pubs in the village, where we could grab a bite to eat. The Glynne Arms and the Fox and Grapes. We ate at the...Glynne Arms and had an amazing meal. The staff were attentive, the food was beautiful, the pub was clean, the ambience was perfect and the location was opposite a great park, which we enjoyed a brief walk around before heading back to the Hotel.More

Lovely place, good for a quality sandwich! I dropped in for a lunchtime drink and a sandwich and was met with a friendly greeting and a choice of sandwiches and breads that would suit everyone. I opted for a fish finger sandwich on granary bread....It came with freshly fried fish goujons (fingers, whatever!) spread with tasty homemade tartar sauce, salad and crisps. A meal and a half and excellent value for money. Worth a quick stop (or a longer one if you like....)More

We were regular users when this restaurant when it had Michelin Stars, however how it has fallen. Limited over priced menu mainly burger and chips or fish. One dish came out cold. Expensive drinks.

I had removed this place from my places to visit as I found it overpriced and underwhelming but I’d won a voucher in a competition so decided to give it a go again and I’m so glad I did. It is still a very expensive...place to eat but you don’t mind when the food is top notch and it was. My partner and I both had steaks. Everything was well cooked and well seasoned. I couldn’t find a fault with it and the service was spot on too. It shall be going back on the list now. Thank you for a great meal!More
