Lovely village pub. Very friendly and helpful. Food came out piping hot and there was certainly plenty of it. We all ordered the chicken en croute which was beautiful with a tasty creamy sauce and lots of fresh veg and chunky chips on the side....Will certainly visit again.More

Bit of a last minute booking by our son who wanted to go here. Arrived a bit early and table was just being prepped but had some drinks from the bar and then sorted quite quickly to the table. The host advised a few items...were low / off the menu - not really an issue as we wanted to try to mix up the starters. The pie of the day really caught our attention - so planned to have that. Ordered up piri prawns and a couple of the lamb bites. The food was delivered reasonably quickly and was well presented. Lamb bites almost like lamb arranchini - I guess the sort of thing they would call a bon-bon on masterchef! Very soft and tasty lamb in a light coating and served with a very tasty herby type mayonnaise. The prawn dish had large juicy prawns in the buttery / garlicky sauce. Bread served was a baguette type - seemed to be the sort part baked from supermarket - so would prefer a slightly better offering and also possibly a bit more chilli heat. But all tasty and devoured up. We did ask for a bottle of water - possibly this could have been offered earlier, ice and lemon and suitably refreshing. Two large pies with a side of triple cooked chips were delivered to the table and the pork medallions in sauce (with cheesy dough balls) as well as a side of the same chips. The veg offering was in contrast a bit poor - several veg in a platter and these were over cooked and just not had the same level of attention as the rest. Pies were very generous, hot and packed full of meaty chunks in the 3B gravy - really fantastic. My son said the pork was great too - good sauce and great side (which we didn't have as a starter) and he didn't share any :-(. The main plates were definitely above average - not cheap but based on what was received good value. The veg offering really needs to be upgraded so its not over cooked - it was hot but just lacked that care. We were all pretty stuffed and as we had a birthday cake waiting at home we just observed the menu for the desserts - maybe another time and skip starters!!. Service was all pleasant, the general ambiance is good and would recommend. I knew a fellow guest dining there who I had a quick chat to and didn't realise the patrons were previously involved with the 3 Crowns - which we used to visit many years ago. Sio this could become a bit more regular for us as its more local.More

Dariusdave had a terrible 2023, January eldest daughter's funeral, March heart bye-pass operation recovery then diagnosed with Cancer. Told no steaks or bread end of November Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy started. Treatments over, PET Scan 25 March await results but feeling better. Booked The Bell for...Easter Sunday Lunch. There were times in Chemotherapy chair "piped up' Dariusdave dreamed of Sunday Lunches at The Bell. What a wonderful Easter Sunday Lunch. Roast beef tasted of traditional beef and texture perfect. Roast potatoes crisp full of flavour, firm sliced carrots, lovely leeks and juicy red cabbage all served with The Bell's own cider gravy perfect. Plus The Bell's own created Yorkshire Pudding delicious. Sadly no Rubarb Mess for pudding but what a plate for cheese and biscuits. Tasty Cheddar, creamy Brie and Strong Stilton with chutney, red grapes and a generous portion of biscuits. Sadly daughter has returned to London but can't wait for her return and another epicurian feast at The Bell.More

Unfortunately was a little disappointed, having heard so many good reviews! Generous portions but in my opinion food and service was decidedly average. Good gluten free menu. Probably won’t rush to return.

Our favourite restaurant (many years ago) was the Three Crowns at Brinkworth, so when we discovered they had moved to the Bell Inn we had to go. We had the cheese dumplings - too doughy and not enough cheese and then the shoulder of lamb...which was absolutely 'yummy'. We were going to go for the steak, but weren't keen on the choice of sauces. The Three Crowns used to do a Cafe de Paris sauce which was so good, but even a bernaise sauce would have been fine. No, not as good as the Three Crowns was, but definitely potential to get there. Staff friendly, service good, so we'll definitely go again.More

We went in the summer so the umbrellas were out to give us shade! Maybe give them a call? A lot of pubs have outdoor heaters to allow groups of up to 6 to dine together
