Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We popped into this place after a visit to Alnwick. The main cafe was full, so we were directed into the house, which has a few rooms where guests can sit. Everything is homemade on the premises, and the fruit scones were to die for!...Service was friendly, and they love dogs - we even met their resident collie, Rock. We’re planning to go back another time for breakfast.More

Visited here a few times and never leave disappointed. The owner and staff are very friendly (along with the beautiful dogs). We are two adults and four young children, so not everyone's cup of tea, but we are always made to feel very welcome and...the staff are extremely accommodating. The care and attention to the quality and presentation of the food is fantastic and well worth the money.More

Called in today following a Tripadvisor search. Great decision. The welcome from staff, the food, the atmosphere and the cake all spot on. Highly recommended. Excellent for humans and dogs, but if you’re not a dog lover don’t worry as you will not be pounced...upon. Had a the ploughman’s, quiche and cake. We were planning to eat out this evening too but that was put on hold having eaten at Rocking Horse, 5 star.More

Came across this place totally by accident when I went to view a campervan across the field; Lovely coffee and cake in a really nice cafe, owners and staff are welcoming and the dogs are well behaved and adorable, really enjoyed giving them all a...cuddle; made a stressful day so much better. I’d come every day if I was local!More

An unbelievably friendly café with delicious food and also is extremely dog friendly too. From first entering the café we were made very welcome by Andrew and his team, and together with the warm homely ambience of the ‘Rocky’s’ surroundings it assured us that we...had made the right choice for a meal and that we were in for a good time! Andrew has gone the extra mile to provide everything that a discerning diner might need, whether it be a tasty snack or a more substantial meal – not to mention the choice of delicious if naughty confectionary! You also might be lucky enough to meet his special and impeccably trained ‘meeter and greeter’ team of Collies, who when necessary, assist him in providing this hospitality! It has also been known (if requested and time permits), for him to share some expert tips on how your own pets can emulate this lovely trio. All in all it was a truly successful visit which we intend to repeat often especially as it is so handy just East of the A1 near Alnwick. Contrary to our usual selfish secrecy on finding good places, we unfortunately cannot keep this gem to ourselves and we thoroughly recommend ‘The Rocking Horse Café’. We are sure you will very definitely NOT be disappointed……!!!More

Very nice food and friendly owner /serving staff. Had breakfast stottie - very tasty and filling, plus cheese savoury toasted stottie (nice chutney and mixed salad). Got used to the collies pottering around (a bit strange at first) - owner checked we were okay with...them.More
