Lovely venue, great atmosphere but staff unhelpful and dismissive if you just want a drink or coffee mid afternoon.

This establishment has to be the cosiest, most comfortable, casual bar/restaurant on the planet. More importantly the food and service and friendliness are superb. I have started to go on a Friday afternoon to treat myself and I honestly cannot complain about one single thing....The food is so tasty, plentiful and well presented. It is consistently delicious, not common in this day and age. The roast dinners are actually the best anywhere because they actually taste of old fashioned roast dinners. Well done the Inn, I’m so happy I’ve found you.More
Hadn’t been here in a few years and decided to return as a family as we had rented accommodation in the Mournes and wanted a decent meal. Wasn’t disappointed, the food was lovely and portion sizes were great. The service was good considering the place was...packed, about a thirty min wait. I’d recommend the salmon,it was delicious, my daughter in law had the roast beef and loved it. One small thing though, we had one member of our group still eating and the waitress whipped away everyone else’s plates. Overall a great experience and will definitely returnMore
Recommended by the B&B we were staying at. Service was prompt, friendly and efficient. Ordered one of their specials and their salmon dish. The portions are huge, one could easily feed two. The meal was hot, delicious and plentiful. Good atmosphere, clearly a Favorite of...locals and understandably so. Go hungry and you will not be disappointed. The chef and staff are to be commended. Glad we took the advice of our host.More
The atmosphere, the food & the staff were just fabulous! We came for a family night out & had the best time. The Service was so friendly, with staff very knowledgeable about the menu, such an extensive choice! Cocktails went down a treat. A great...atmosphere in this pub, we would highly recommend to anyone.More
Had a great visit, staff are superb. Loved the seafood chowder and the sizzling platter (beef fillet) was fantastic. We'll definitely be back
Place never disappoints, everything just perfect, beautiful food and extremely fast service, all staff are wonderful. 100% would recommend!
Called in for Sunday lunch which didn’t disappoint, had chicken strips for starter which were amazing and then the roast turkey and ham for mains which was delicious, the portions are great, I had gravy on mine and the son had peppered sauce on his...and both were out off this world, the whole experience was amazing from the tentative and friendly service to the amazing food to the new furniture this is most go to placeMore
Love Maghera Inn, always guaranteed a good meal. Went with the family on Friday for dinner. Food was amazing, we ordered steak which was cooked exactly how we liked it & katsu curry. The sauce is phenomenal 👌🏼 Great service, the staff provided the kids...with drawings and colours on arrival which kept them entertained. Went above and beyond in making the kids feel special when bringing out dessert too. Highly recommend!More
The atmosphere was lovely the service and food was lacking. First we were ignored by a young man when we asked for our table and he proceeded to walk off. The lamb my mother had was dry and her single massive roast potato was rock...hard. My fathers baby boiled potato were more like new potatoes and they were rock hard. My middle and fries were decent. The service was extremely poor taking ages to clear our table yet the bill came almost immediately when we asked for it. This was our first experience of this establishment and I’m sorry to say that we were disappointed with sub quality food and the lack of interest and care from the staff who would rather all wipe the same table multiple times than do there jobs.More
Waitress was so ignorant !! Just sat down and immediately asked to order I ask her to give us a minute and she was not amused .then when she came to take order I asked for mushrooms for starter she told my family we hadn't...time for starter as she needed the table in one hour then brought out the main course followed by the starter and just set it on the table food was definitely nice and tasty but the lady with the tattoos on her arms is In the wrong line of work dealing with the paying publicMore
The booking process was a bit disappointing but we liked the Maghera apart from it taking a long time to place our order - 45 minutes. The food was great and the service good once we’d overcome the original delay.
The food was unreal but the service is really poor. Walked through the door and had to wait 5 mins before anyone would say can I help you. I then sat down and I'm a man that doesn't m8nd waiting on my food if I...have a pint in my hand but took 15 mins until I waved one of the staff down and asked could I get a drink please and some menus. Took 45 mins for our food which again I wouldn't mind if I didn't have to continue waving waiters down for a drink. Don't get me wrong the food is unreal meaning I'll be tempted to go back. But as off the 9th Aug 2023 @ 7pm - 9pm the service was really poor maybe a lack of staff??More
Very nice Restaurant with typical interior and very kind staff. I just had the "special of the day", but this was awesome. A fantastic Burger 🍔 wit Gorgonzola cheese. Very tasteful. It was pretty busy, already a 5 pm. Will come back. Definitely worth a...visit.More
Well what a beautiful pub inside and out service and food exceptional myself and my friend out for a spot off lunch in co.down I had the chowder with wheaten (amazing ) my chum she opted for fish & chips with mushy peas and a...portion off gravy I know odd combination but it works!! Recommended 5*****+ and above a must for anyone out for a drive any day off the week!! A hidden gem in the heart off Mournes with beautiful scenery all around in a quaint little village in Maghera, until next time!!More
